White Glove Treatment - Super Professional I'm going to start with, I am mechanical and can fix just about anything, except HVAC. My A/C went out and I was worried I'd have a crazy time getting it fixed. I put a request on Angie's list and "Salty", yes "Salty" - is what the owner of the company and that's what he goes by. He was super helpful on the phone. He said he would have a Tech. out asap - yes on a Sunday, I couldn't believe it. 1 hour later - "Marvin" was on his way. He diagnosed the issue and I wasn't surprised (remember I am mechanical), when he told me the system had a non-reparable leak, he even showed me where it was. Marvin called Salty and Salty called me back. They said they would put me 1st on the list Monday (in one day) to replace the system. They showed up at 8:30 am on Monday just as they said they would. Steve, Eric and Marvin got to work. By 1:00pm they were finished my house is cool, my wallet is lighter, but not as light as if I would have called one of the big HVAC guys, and a little less costly than I initially expected. I would give these guys; 5 Stars for answering the phone 5 Stars for communication 5 Stars for the work putting the new system in 5 stars for overall - everything 5 Stars for what I was charged, meaning a great price. My AC went out Sunday night, I called the company that installed the unit ( Don Brock) and they could care less. They said they might be able to get someone to look at it in 4 days. Recommended by "Anji" when a/c unit failed early Aug. Responded in timely manner and determined there was a damper failure and parts needed to be ordered. Things went bad after that. Poor communications. Second tech came and got unit running, but said damper was on another truck. Tested unit and said it was very low on coolant that I likely had a lead.He added 3-4 pounds(?) of coolant and shot a dye into the line. I was told he would return in 3-4 weeks with a special (blue?) light to locate the leak. I was charged $584, less a$38 military discount. for the service call and coolant. That was Aug.12. Never heard from them again. To their credit, they did disable the dampers and we paid our regular provider (Tate's) his normal inspection fee and he verified the dampers were disabled and that it was a good idea. However, because of poor communication (right hand did not know what the left hand was doing) high cost of coolant and failure to follow through with the leak test, I cannot recommend Mechanical Brothers and will never use them again. read more

Our A/C unit stopped working on a Saturday. We contacted someone first thing Monday morning who was recommended to us who said they would contact us back to schedule us. By 2pm I still hadn't heard from him so I got on Angi's list and received a call from a rep within minutes. She advised she had someone in my area and he'd be out in 1-1 1/2 hours. He was on his way in less than 35 mins. Salty was my tech and was professional and had an answer for me within a few minutes. He told me he could come back out the next day and replace the compressor. In the meantime, the first guy finally texted back and said someone would let me know when a tech would be in my area. I told him I found someone and thanked him. Salty was back the next day before 8am and had us up and running again in short order. I never price shopped him or checked around with anyone else. I was so impressed with their service, they earned my business. In the meantime, the other company texted me back and asked if I knew what the failure was, I told him, he quoted me. Not only did he take too long in reaching back out to us, his quote was a ball park and was $1000-$2000 higher than Mechanical Brothers. I hope I don't have to call them again but if I do, hands down will not consider anyone else. read more

Contacted Mechanical Brothers for a quote on replacing the evaporator coil on my 3.5 ton heat pump. Received a quick reply and good price for the labor and they took care of getting the warranty part. An appointment was set up the next day and Steve (a 30yr pro) got the job done and answered all my questions. The week before P*rker & Sons diagnosed the problem, but charged an excessive amount for refrigerant and leak test and wanted an outrageous amount to replace the coil. read more

When a factory defective motor caused one unit to fail, Mechanical Brothers had a new motor from the factory delivered and installed in five days which was fantastic. Called them because my unit didn't sound like it used too - works fine just didn't sound the same. Joe D came over (before my wife got there) and came off the roof with my motor in hand saying "you need a new motor" AND "you need a new motor mount". To the tune of $982 !! Umm, the unit is already disassembled, so now it doesn't work and beyond getting another quote. Looks like they've got me! Home run!! AC went out on a Friday night. Called Saturday morning at 0615 and a technician (Salty) was out to the house by 1030. He told me what needed to be done and that they'd call me on Monday with a timeframe for the repair. Monday rolls around and at 0600 I get a text stating a technician (Matt) would be out from 12-2. Waited until about 0215 to call the office and I was told that the part wasn't at their warehouse and they'd call me Tuesday with an update. The office wasn't told by the technician the part wasn't in either. He left them in the dark as much as me. Tuesday around 0300 in the afternoon on my break at work I called the office. They claimed they were just about to call me with an update. They said technician would be out on Wednesday first thing in the morning. On Wednesday our time slot was 8-10 and the same technician from Monday would be coming to my house. Had to have a family member come and work online in my hot house until the technician showed up. 1015 rolled around and technician wasn't at our house. Called the office and they said he was driving near our house and he would be there soon. 1130 and he still wasn't at the house. Called again and the office had no idea where technician was. Technician finally called me personally and said he was at another job and would be to my house in 30 minutes. It took him 45 minutes to show up. He performed the repair and got in his truck and drove away. Didn't verify the ac was blowing in the house, the temps were right. Nothing. No phone call saying he was done, no knock on the door. About as poor of customer service as I've ever received. I called today 08/29 to pay bill. Office attendant gave me the total as if I knew what the total was. She asked if I got an email and I said no. She looked me up on the system and none of my contact info was in there. I paid my bill but I won't be calling this place again for any ac issues. read more

So waited 5 days and finally called them and cust service rep totally remembered me and apologized for ghosting me.. she then booked me for the very next day and the whole time apologizing to me... Saved me in a pickle. I kept putting off a/c maintenance and knew it was going to bite me in the rear... So called around to schedule something (mid day of day 1 without a/c) got a different business than "mechanical brothers" and they told me not until tomorrow...luckily we had a window unit to keep us cool. But when I missed their call (I know that's on me too) and had to rebook next availability wasn't until 2 more days. So I called around more and filled out a home advisor or something to hopefully get someone sooner...I did for the next day. Getting sad cause were going to be without a/c for another day...I get a call from Salty. I tell him "Hey yea I have a appointment tomorrow, I was just calling around." He's like I can be out there in an hour or 2. Took the family for quick ice cream to cool down and he was there as we were getting back. Wasn't even an hour to fix and had the part on hand. Mechanical Brothers Heating and Cooling came out to my home for a service call. they went on my roof took out my A/C filter and said it needed glued back in. They said they didn't have any glue and would need to return. They said there were several other items that needed servicing also and would get back to me with a quote. after 3 attempts of contacting them I now have decided they aren't worth the trouble and will get someone else. I do not recommend this company. it may be that they have had a change in personnel or something else, but I'm just not sure I would recommend them if you can't even get them to follow up. read more

Our a/c stopped working at about 830 pm last night. I requested a call online and they were calling within 10 minutes. They scheduled us between 6-8am the next morning which was fantastic. The service technician was professional and I could tell he was an expert. He texted at 6 letting me know he was on the way and I got a phone call when he was just a few minutes away as well. I'm not sure if was just the tech I got or the company as a whole. I requested them to come by and service my non working AC. They came by July 21st, on the 24th I called stating I never received an invoice or estimate. The call service person admitted that the tech had issues getting invoices in and while waiting for an estimate I called another AC company got an estimate and scheduled a repair. On August 3rd I finally received my invoice for payment stating the work was done on the 26th without an estimate. Would not recommend this company if your AC is out and expecting a quick turn around while sweating in the 110+ degree heat. read more

Called them to come out to service AC unit and check air temp. This time of year is very busy for them but they came out within a week. Our service tech was helpful and professional. Very experienced. Time was supposed to be 8 am but he called at 6:15 am .. fortunate my phone was even on as I put it in airplane mode normally. He arrived at 6:25.. super hot in AZ in July so can't blame him. Unit will need replaced. But it's still running. So a check up for 69.00 doesn't include cleaning coils ... I guess that is now about 160.00? Will get bids on replacing unit. read more

Mechanical Brothers is a great reliable and dependable Air Conditioning company that is open 24 hours. In Greater Phoenix Metro area with temperatures soaring over 110 degree temperatures from June through August air conditioning is very important to make a residential home or commercial building so it is safe and habitatal. During the summer my air-conditioning went out. To try to keep cool at night, I opened up all of the windows and doors that have security doors on them with all ceiling fans running on the highest speeds. Even though the outside night time temperatures were in the mid 80's for the low temperature, the house was over 100 degrees. Having a 24 hour air-conditioning company like Mechanical Brothers is a must with dangerously hot temperatures during the harsh hot summer months living throughout Metro Phoenix. read more

The pluses are that they come out promptly and are very nice and "professional. " My major complaint is the charge for Freon. My unit uses R22 which is being phased out for 410. These folks wanted to charge me $75 per pound of freon. The whole can only cost between $300-350 (family in business in another state.) I don't mind a business making a profit but since I needed 14 pounds I could have bought three cans. That is not profit that is rape. read more

These guys are lifesavers! This is a review I should have left a long time ago when my father's AC unit just broke down and left everyone in the house frantic. Since I live on the other side of town, I had to find a company that was closer to my dad's house and would come ASAP (it was literally 110 degrees outside.) As soon as I spoke with the owner, he told me not to worry and that he would have one of his technicians over right away. Well, "right away" in customer service world is usually an hour or two, but nope! The owner had someone at my dad's house after 15 minutes!! Now here comes the shocker... we were 100% positive the AC unit was kaput, and ready to shell out the $5k or whatever it is for a new system. Again, nope! The technician was able to repair a faulty wire and the AC was blasting within the hour. Saved us thousands of dollars! As a resident in the Phoenix area resident the past 15 years, I have a great appreciation of that feeling of cool air rushing over me as I walk into an air conditioned house or store. Also as a Phoenix resident, I know the dreadful, sweltering, triple-digit heat we experience in the summer months. However with the simple push of a button or two, my home stays at a cool 72 degrees at all times. That is, until my AC unit decided to go on summer vacation and stop working last night! The indoor temperature displayed on the thermostat began to creep up slowly causing a mild internal panic as I thought of the idea of trying to sleep in the rising heat. Thankfully we live in the 21st century and I can quickly find some help on the Internet. My only dilemma now would be the outrages fees I was expecting to come along with repair services that would be marked up with "after-hours" costs. Also the worry of what time they would even make it out to the house late at night. After calling around a few places I found here on Yelp to compare the costs of just coming out and seeing what was wrong, I came across the Mechanical Bros. LIFE SAVERS! Besides, providing me a lower quote without even letting them know what others were going to charge, the gentleman on the phone said they'd have someone out to us in around an hour. Not too bad of a wait considering the circumstances. Just around 30 minutes later, the tech was already at our house ready to go. Took him to the AC unit after checking out the thermostat inside and let him get to work. Before we knew it, the glorious sounds of the AC unit kicking in filled our ears! Quickly followed by that glorious feeling of cool air! The tech informed us that a belt and fan (not too mechanically savvy here!) gave away from years of hard work and beating sun. I saw the reviews for this company and thought they would be great to do a tune up on my a/c unit. I was lucky enough to find a Groupon for the work I needed done. I purchased the Groupon and called to make an appointment. The number I called was a mobile number and I guess it was a tech that answered, and he said he would have the office call me right back at my number. An hour later I still hadn't received a call, so I called back and got the office number to call myself. I made the appointment, letting the woman know that I had a Groupon for the service, and was able to get scheduled for that same day. Twenty minutes before the tech was going to show up, the same woman calls me back and said that she talked to her manager and that they wouldn't be able to accept the Groupon because it was no good anymore and that it wasn't even supposed to be available to purchase. I asked her if they weren't going to honor it since I had already purchased it and it was in fact for their company and she said no, unfortunately we won't be able to take it. She then offered for them to still come out for $49.95 and I told her no, I had already purchased the Groupon and that I would have to somehow then get my money back for that. If they were going to provide good customer service, they would have accepted the Groupon that was for their company, even if it was "expired" or should have been taken down. read more

There were a few tweaks that needed attention after the initial install and they were on it immediately. I have used them over the last several years for Repairs, yearly maint. and finally a replacement. Last Thursday my AC went down. I noticed it around noon. They were there at 1:30. My unit was 20 years old and about done. The tech did what he needed to do to get me up and running but let me know it was toast and wouldn't last.
