I called Shaun about getting a broken valve cover bolt out. He said he could do it, and we booked an appointment. He quoted $250, which I agreed to. He came on a Wednesday, I believe...and worked for about 1-1/2 hrs. He called me and said he was unsuccessful in getting the bolt out. He also said he could drill it out and put in new threads to screw a new bolt into. He stated he was busy, and couldnt get back till that Saturday. I never heard from him again. These pictures reveal why. He broke the area where the bolt was. The repair would be more difficult now, so he just bailed on me. Thanks Shaun, I took care of your screw up. read more

Giving Mechanics Pros a 3-star rating due to unexpected turmoil resulting from brake inspection. To make a long story short, I had called Shaun for 3 things, most importantly and on top of my priority list; a long going issue regarding my brakes- terrible stuttering/dragging noise when pressing on my brake pedal after driving for a period of time (rear & front brake pads are good + had new rotors recently installed). Other 2 inquiries was to change my spark plugs and replace my coolant. He did a great job at this and even went beyond as to educating me on what a "tune up" actually is, and the steps it took. (Free service) My issue came after when Shaun inspected my brakes, took em apart, and lubricated both pads. The worst screeching sound came the next day when I drove my vehicle. I did not even have to press on my brake pedal to hear this noise. Thereafter I decided to take my vehicle elsewhere but I did not give Shaun a fair chance to re-inspect my brakes (Shaun did offer this and was very much available/did not have to wait long). This caused me a huge inconvenience as Shaun was the first person I hit up in the North Bay which nearly resulted in more harm than good (I confirmed with the alternate shop that what Shaun did was a direct result in nearly causing serious damage to my car). In spite of this, I would still like to highlight Shaun's upstanding diligence & professionalism in offering to come back around and offer to fix my issue. (Free or charge) Good caring person, and wish our exchange ended in good spirit. But at this point, I did not hold complete faith in Shaun to fix this but would not question his integrity or work ethic. read more

Shaun came to our rescue several years ago when our minivan wouldn't start in an underground parking lot. Tow trucks don't have enough clearance to hitch vehicles in underground parking so we searched for a mobile mechanic and we're glad we found him. Most recently, our check engine light came on and it was the knock sensor. Shaun ordered the two sensors and the needed gaskets and showed up when he said he would and did a thorough job. His price is fair, not cheap but market standard and he absolutely deserves to be paid for his expertise and hard work. He's a nice guy and seems very trustworthy. My car battery light came on, told my wife don't drive the car. I assumed it was a bad battery as I just bought a new battery from o'Reilly approximately 6 month ago.. I pull the car out of the garage and I lost power steering to the car! I left the car parked in the driveway. Waited for wife to come home so I can jump the car battery so I can drive the car around to charge up the car battery. After I jumped the car battery I tried to drive to o'Reilly. The steering wheel lock up immediately again (pretty scary) and I had to do my best to park the car on the side of street. I pulled the battery out and brought it to o'Reilly to test the car battery, wasted 3 hours of my life. It was a good battery. I bring this story up, if you don't have a multimeter which I didn't have at the time (bought one now). I would've have known that my battery was good by testing it with a multimeter (YouTube it). It was my alternator that went bad. I called Mechanic Pro's because of all the 5* review (all true) and most importantly (mobile mechanic) I spoke with Shaun, after telling him my car battery problem. He immediately said my alternator went bad. Labor/Part very reasonable (repeat mobile mechanic) He order my alternator part for my 2010 Toyota Corolla, we time blocked 10-11am appt. for the next day. Shaun (owner) showed up promptly at 10am. Before he started any work he tested my battery to show me that I had a good battery, it showed 12+ volt with his (multimeter) he told me to start the car. The voltage dropped immediately to 11.98 when it should've jump to 14+ volts. He said my alternator is bad. Shaun has all his tools on his truck, very knowledgeable, professional but most importantly a honest mechanic you can trust. He started working on changing my alternator and was done in less than hour WOW!!!. This was all done with my car parked on the side of the street while I'm at home! if I had to tow my car to and drop my car off to a mechanic shop, no way my alternator is done in (35 mins) less than 1hour, no way! Don't forget someone need to drive you to the mechanic shop... Shaun is incredible! New alternator = Battery light off! Shaun then when over the warranty of my alternator and his labor guarantee. I contracted him to do a pre-sale evaluation on a car I was thinking of buying and he was very knowledgeable. However, I almost gave him 4 stars because I think he could have done a better job of instilling confidence. I wish that he had been more opinionated and confident in his statements. I feel that he's a very experienced and knowledgeable guy, but that I had to do some digging to get at his personal/professional opinion which is really what I feel I'm paying for. I wanted someone who knows what they're about to come and tell me like it is. I got the feeling that he was hedging his bets a bit and I would have appreciated more communication and straightforwardness. All that being said I really do appreciate the work he did, and ultimately he's deserving of the 5 star rating.
