I have moved many times, and the service/professionalism I received with Meathead Movers was, by far, top notch. From the initial phone call to intake all my belongings, their customer service was stellar. I had no issue in scheduling my move date, changing it when something came up, and the 2-day long-distance move was a breeze! There was a huge crew that showed up that packed up my belongings incredibly. No damage, no issues, and only a few hours for packing up and unpacking things in my new home. I used Meathead Movers on 4/6/19 to move locally but from a 2 story house to an apartment on the 3rd floor. I had some pretty heavy items. The crew of 4 (Anson Araujo, Jaime Lopez, Edgar Ramos, Javier Aguilar) showed up right on time and worked tirelessly all day until 7pm. They never complained about climbing to the 3rd floor with very heavy items and everything was put back together without any breakage. Their work made my move much easier and I greatly appreciated their respect for my property and their excellent work ethics. And at the end of a very long day, they even said it was a pleasure moving me. That made my day. Thank you Meathead movers for making what could have been a terrible day to one that was a good day. Meathead, or S---head movers as I refer to them. To make a long story short, we contracted for a move within our building. There was no truck necessary. They proceeded to damage an expensive leather chaise, and the dresser to our bedroom set. They broke two legs and the frame of the chaise....: a $700 repair. The dresser was another couple of hundred. They offered us .60 a pound on what they damaged. Unfortunately, it is in their agreement and I missed it. We had the Meathead Movers Camarillo team come down to the South Bay to move us from Hermosa to Redondo, a move of about 1.7miles. I did research beforehand, having never used movers in the LA area, and with the help of good Yelpers, I decided on Meathead (good reputation, refreshing business model, and comfortable pricing). First off, let me say the pre-move people were great. We got an estimate from Torrey, who came out to look at the furniture, boxes, and layout. He was prompt, polite, well-dressed, and very friendly. He was not a pushy salesman type sent to close the deal...he was honest and his comments on the estimate were intelligent. Secondly, for the paperwork and billing I dealt with Molly, she did a great job with the emails, forms, and a few of my questions on the Yelp! $20 for $40 deal (which was great!). Now on to the move...we definitely had an A-team with Lance and Jeremy. It was a Friday morning move, and the boys helped us get a jump on the long weekend ahead. They showed up on time, quickly went over paperwork, took a tour of the pre-work we did with boxing and breakdown of items, and they got to work. - The truck was packed quickly and efficiently. We had about 3 bedrooms worth of furntiure and boxes, a few garage items, and a couple bulky things. The loading process took about 90 minutes. - We got some sandwiches and took a lunch prior to the unload, the guys were polite, gentlemanly, friendly, and appreciative. They were also very motiviated to get the job done and save us a few bucks. - The unloading went very well, they worked quickly and also safely. They put things where we wanted them, they hustled, and their attitudes were great. We made the move in the estimated time, with only one scratch on one item, and it was minor. Lance and Jeremy were a good team. Very clean-cut, out going, friendly, funny, and dedicated. Both these guys deserve kudos because they kept the move on track. We had a lot of things going on with utilities, appliance delivery, Verizon, and moving two cars, two motorcycles, and a lot of little stuff...I cannot say enough about the team, and Meathead Movers. We were completely pleased from beginning to end with the moving process and the cost. I will strongly recommend Meathead Movers, and certainly use them in the future. How wonderful to have movers who actually do what they say they will! This company is honest and their movers are hard-working. After experiencing two really bad moves (one local and one cross country) by other moving companies that resulted in my having to contact the BBB, I chose Meathead after reading all the positive Yelp reviews. Scott did our initial estimate and when he got to the "not to exceed" amount, I thought they were a bit high and began to question myself for not getting multiple estimates. However, Scott called later and told me they could eliminate having the 4 movers drive down to OC, and instead 2 guys from the OC location would meet at the new location. This took a good chunk out of the original estimate. I decided to go with them, hoping they would be worth it. Scott was also excellent with my follow-up questions. For example, the 1st estimate came back with the original cost of 4 movers traveling from VC to OC, and an addendum was added which I then signed. I've been burned too many times and wanted everything we'd agreed to verbally in writing! On the day of the move, they showed up about 30 min. early which would normally be a good thing, but I was scrambling to get my cats into the bathroom and last minute prep done. However, they waited patiently until I was ready. Long story shorter, these guys were awesome. They really busted their behinds to get this move done quickly. It only took them an hour to unload an 1000 square foot apartment. My "not to exceed" cost was almost $1900, but thanks to how fast they were (and no traffic on a Sunday), the total amount came to only $1100. The move-to location was a 3rd floor apartment, and they still got it done so quickly. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Meathead Movers was immediately responsive when I called, and was able to provide services on very short notice. In the days prior to the move, they were very communicative, and happy to answer questions and be helpful. On the day of the move, they were on time, and prepared to go. The two young men who did the work were tidy, friendly, polite, careful and accommodating. They were patient, and happy to make sure that we were satisfied with the placement of items in the new residence. They simply could have not better represented the company. The one "heads up" that I offer is that the company does not require that their movers be vaccinated for COVID. If you want that assurance, they will accommodate your request, but you have to make arrangements well in advance. Vaccination status aside, the movers wore appropriate masks at all times. Let me start off by saying that our expectations have been beyond met with Meathead Movers! Today we moved from Oxnard, where we were living in a 3 story townhome. On our 3rd floor housed our tempurpedic CALIKING. On the second story housed our Living-room set from Ashley furniture full with a coffee table, l-sectional and side tables w/ matching lamps along with our wooden dining set. The picture that I am trying to paint is that in my eyes our move was going to be the hardest ever especially with it being 3 stories... But with the help of GREG GIAUQUE & FERNANDO GONZALEZ their hard work made our move sooooo easy. They literally come to your home and move everything for you. I heard rumors about a "VIP Chair" which we didn't get (no big deal) but my fiancé and I enjoyed watching them work on our own chairs. Really friendly duo, so request that they be your movers! Note: I did not end up moving with Meathead Movers, so this review describes their in-advance customer service only. I called Meathead Movers about two weeks ago to get a quote for my move. Immediately, I was impressed by their professionalism. I was excited to use them as a moving company, particularly because I knew that they moved women leaving DV situations for free, and I wanted to support that cause. Unfortunately, there is a clause in their contract that would have required me, as a signee, to sign that I had done something that I had not done. As signing such a contract not only opens me to liability for which I didn't want to be liable but also would constitute me signing that I had agree to something I hadn't agreed to, I couldn't in good conscience sign it. Their paperwork is non-negotiable, and as such, I had to terminate the agreement. BUT they were very professional about it and there was no issue or charge for having made a reservation and then cancelling it. Here is the offending line from the contract: "I hereby relinquish any claim for damages as I have, against advice, asked that Meathead Movers refrain from using floor protection to ensure my floors are not damaged." It makes NO SENSE that this is a required line in their paperwork for all to sign, even if you have expressly AGREED to floor protection (which I had). Why would I sign that I have declined floor protection when I specifically asked for floor protection? Their response to my complaint was that all lines here are hypothetical--that I as customer would only be liable IF I declined floor protection. And they are right that many of the lines in this section of the contract are hypothetical, but this line isn't. And as such I couldn't in good conscience sign the contract. I hope that Meathead Movers will update their contract to make it possible for customers who do not decline floor protection still to be able to use their service. But unless they do, I cannot recommend their services. read more

Meathead Movers were efficient and friendly from the very first call to completion of the job. They moved our office under adverse weather conditions, rain, hail, etc., but jogged along with smiles. I have moved 8 times in the past 30 years and have never been more impressed with any other moving company. I spent the past several days in Thousand Oaks moving a family member from Southern to Northern California. From the moment I received the confirmation call to load the household goods, the entire experience was phenomenal. Five stars isn't a high enough rating for both Andrew and Tim! They each deserve 10 stars!! Both Andrew and Tim were prompt, professional, polite and extremely accommodating with some tricky logistics. Both Andrew and Tim arrived exactly on time each day at the agreed upon time. They moved quickly and cautiously with all the household goods while simultaneously staying positive and upbeat and their energy was contagious!! They are fine young men mature beyond their years who will truly be successful in life! DON'T USE MEATHEAD IF YOU VALUE YOUR THINGS! I am a local Realtor and have always recommended Meathead movers to my clients, friends and family. Recently, my husband, mother in law and I moved from Thousand Oaks to Longmont, CO. We were excited to have Meathead come and load up our three trucks with our 4,000 square ft home. The guys arrived late on a Sunday and the excuse was that lead guy had called in sick. They had to put together a team and during the truck loading, one guy was sick and left. They added another person and we had 6-7 guys throughout the day and late into the evening. By the end, they were literally throwing things in the trucks to get them off of the driveway. When our trucks arrived in Colorado, we were all shocked at the damage to our precious things! The unloading team took plenty of photos as they pulled the broken furniture out of the trucks. Couches and chairs black from insufficient wrapping, dining tables in pieces, our brand new Pottery Barn, leg snapped off! Called Meathead immediately and they told us of the claim filing procedure. We filed a claim for our $10,000 in damages and we just received a letter from them telling us that we had signed off on any liability at the job and that they were not reimbursing for us one penny! Updated review: Jeremy was able to handle all of our complaints professionally and promptly. Thank you for rectifying a situation brought to your attention! This review is mainly for their Princess Packers that came two days before our move. The guys on the day of our move, albeit behind schedule all day, still hustled and all but one were polite and courteous. We had to relocate from LA to the OC for my husband's job. We enlisted Meathead for the move because of the great word of mouth we've heard. Our busy schedules led us to the Princess Packers. Not only did they use way more boxes than necessary (because Meathead charges on a per box basis during the actual move, we later found out $$$), they broke a wine glass used in our wedding reception and another kitchen item gifted to us by my mother in law. The ONLY reason we found this out, was my husband saw them do it. They tried to hide the wine glass and kitchen item in the trash. Speaking of trash, they left trash everywhere. Including packing tape attached to one of my dog's toys which he could've choked on. When they arrived my husband told them if nothing else gets done that day, to finish the kitchen. Well, they spent 5 hours packing and only a portion of the kitchen was packed and a few things off the walls. We have an 1100sq ft apartment, not a mansion! We had to have additional people come the next day to finish a mediocre job. At least the company had the better sense to not charge us for the second round of packers. When we called to voice our displeasure, we were only offered a 10% discount (insulting considering or bill was over $3000 total) and a more "tenured" moving team. So you're admitting you sent amateurs to pack us? When our rep assured us you hardly break things and do the job properly? We never received a follow up call after the move, either, to see if the experience improved. When we called the day of as the movers were severely behind schedule, they offered to call their Santa Ana office for reinforcements. Well they never came, and neither did a phone call to update us. Upon unpacking the disaster boxes (very poorly labeled, by the way), I had 7 32oz garbage bags FULL of dusty packing paper to throw away. The packers JAMMED this dirty paper into the glasses so tight, I almost broke more items trying to get the paper dislodged! No wonder they broke our stuff. Couple that with the poorly labeled boxes, and items with their various attachments strewn in multiple boxes instead of kept together, it took me double the time to unpack our stuff. Needless to say, you've lost our business. I suppose "Meathead" accurately describes the type of people employed here. Poor product, poor customer service, and very unhappy clients that will definitely not be recommending this company to anyone. My father, who lived at the Ventura Townehouse, a retirement community, passed away and we had to make some rather sudden decisions, one of them being how to move all of his belongings and furniture out of his apartment. We chose Meathead movers to move his stuff, and I couldn't be happier with how they handled the move, starting from the initial contact and scheduling the pick up and the move itself. The two young men, Jacob and Angel, who were did the moving called us when they were on their way and showed up on time ready to work. They were very polite and professional. Since the Townehouse is very busy, the move needs to be coordinated carefully so as not to interfere with the residents' use of the elevators. After seeing the costly bid, I contacted Meathead Movers. The online estimate process went very smoothly and I was able to "rent" two movers at a 3 hour minimum. A few years ago I had Meathead Movers move my belongings from Public Storage in Valencia to Public Storage in Westlake Village. Two men worked all day loading the truck...or rather one man worked while the head guy talked on his phone most of the time. Toward the end of the day, they said they were going to have to come back the next day to finish! I wasn't having it, so they ended up sending about 10 kids to help. While all of these people were loading my belongings into the new storage, it was chaotic to say the least. There was no way I could keep track of everyone. They also charged me a blood sucking fortune. I just moved my belongings into my new home after several years and come to find...my beautiful area rug is missing, as well as my Keurig coffee maker. Who knows what else they stole? I guess I'll find out as soon as I finish unpacking. Oh and the 3 guys that just moved me...did it in 1/2 the time for way less than 1/2 the money! Just had the packing and moving at our house today. We had to get help on short notice, and I thought from reviews I had read that these would be great people. And the Meathead Movers themselves were great. Worth every penny I paid for them. BUT STAY AWAY FROM THE PACKERS. They didn't use the boxes that we already had like they said they would. They were supposed to use them first. Instead they used huge boxes and charged me through the nose. Despite being told what we would and would not want packed they still managed to pack up garbage instead of real items, packed things we specifically requested they not pack, and didn't pack some items that we specifically requested they pack. They actually packed some empty Kleenex boxes that needed to be tossed, and failed to pack a multi-pack of Kleenex boxes that was unopened. The packing portion we will never use again. The movers we might, but the packers, no. Incredibly disappointed. And at a time when we're having to move out-of-state because of the high cost, having lost my father six months ago, and me being disabled it has made our day more trying not less. read more

If I could leave negative stars for my experience with Meathead Movers I would do so. Where to begin? Was told 5 men would show up at 10 with appropriate materials to safely transport antique Tiffany Mirrors, occupied Japan 1930's advertisement framed art. In fact I was told they wouldn't transport the framed art in picture boxes (because they didn't have any) but rather wrap them the way they knew they should be transported. Pls see picture of broken , one of a kind, professionally framed antique poster. Many items broken, a Bose stereo system rendered worthless due to how they transported it. I have sent multiple pics & e mails to the company with no resolve! I was quoted $1,300 minimum with a maximum of $2,600 & they ran my card for $2,900! I was bullied by the "Athlete " Movers. Threatened they would take my belongings in the truck to the facility & I would be charged for the overnight stay of my items . The time they spent asking me what went could have been better served moving the boxes previously professionally packed & in the hallway for them to take to the truck. I witnessed the crew in the parking lot tossing my boxes as if they were a football. I have video of the "Team" driving erratically with my belongings on their truck. It wasn't at all what I was led to believe would be a professional moving experience. I was also told by the young man who broke the antique vintage adv poster it was a mere $10.00 fix. I can't get management to return my call or e mails therefore if u have personal knowledge of the individuals who own & operate said company I would appreciate contact! read more

My movers did not jog when not carrying items. I marked boxes for master bedroom, office...etc. They left boxes in the garage that were supposed to be put in the office or master upstairs. They "lost" a box of expensive vases and other living room items. They also "lost" a box of kitchen items along with my Alexa and Bluetooth. They never sent anyone out to check out inventory and once they arrived to move, they added an additional 1,000 to my bill. I had no choice and had to agree to additional charge since my escrow was closing the next day. When I called their office, they agreed to refund me 257.00 which was not acceptable. When I asked if that was the max, they informed me it was. How do you determine that 257.00 is the max??? I will never use them again and will be contacting the BBB. read more

Their answer was to double the payment and go rent my own truck that I would drive myself. I'm not stuck with 25% of what was supposed to be moved with a house 3 states away. i got quoted $1450. i said how much stuff i had, the distance it would be, everything. and somehow ended up with a $2900 bill at the end. that's insane. you have to be more honest with your quotes. especially since you sent 5 movers. that should have been a much quicker job. they were nice, but i'll never you use again because of the price. edit to the reply: it was not thoroughly discussed at all. i was told the minimum and the "to not exceed price" and was told that with the amount of items i had it would likely meet the minimum. i'm also not asking for an excuse, i'm letting you know that you need to be more transparent with your quotes so that people are not being charged DOUBLE what they expected. it's honest feedback, not looking for a rebuttal. if i was reading reviews, i would want to know this information. read more

I used Meathead Movers for the first time to move a piece of furniture that has been in our family for over 55 years. Hawk & Angel did an exceptional job, they made sure to be super careful while moving this piece if furniture for us. We had two separate drop off locations for the furniture and they accommodated all of our requests. I am so thankful for their help and their attention to detail. Even the way they communicate with one another to pick up and set the piece of furniture is so professional. The quote process and scheduling process is so easy and all of the customer service reps are so nice and reassure you that the movers are the best. Second experience. First was great! This time... They really lowered their standards on who they hire. I got a call that my move was delayed. They were supposed to start at 9 and didn't show up until 11. Thy took an hour lunch in the middle of our move, so they took our stuff with them and we were honestly concerned they would run off with it. They broke a light in my home, they lost a tiny piece of my furniture that SURPRISE rendered it useless. It makes my blood boil that I paid these jerks so much money to act like teenagers instead of men. I called customer service after. Some young guy answered and was really trying to be professional but ended up only refunding me for the 1/4 hour they wasted being rude and not listening to me. I hate meathead movers now. Never using again. Do yourself a favor. Hire professionals if you have important things. Not college kids with zero work ethic. Why is this place so bad? UPDATE: Was contacted by the Quality Assurance Manager- Jeremy. Very nice, very helpful and I'm truly impressed by how he handled such an experience and the aftermath. I was promised a 25% refund (Friday May 26th) as of Wednesday May 31st has not been received but they stated their intentions to help cover the cost of my light which is the goal. Will send update upon resolution. UPDATED: Received my refund Friday so it takes a few days to process if anyone was wondering about that. We feel some closure to the matter now so thank you again to Jeremy. You couldn't trust these movers with a rubber ducky and 1000lbs of bubble wrap, I mean it is truly a sight to see how incompetent they are. After having Meathead Movers move my belongings 4-5 times within Same Barbara, my first call was to Meathead. A nice young lady answers and said they move belongings to Colorado and have done so for years. Fast forward about a week and Brayden was dismissive and couldn't care less to even give me an estimate m, and wasn't the least bit interested in talking to me. This was a wonderful experience. Moving is stress and dealing with Meathead movers was so easy. I called around to find a moving company and I had minimum amount of furniture, but they all had a four hour minimum. I heard through a friend to try Meathead movers, I called them and they made it so easy for me. They got me in the next day.They gave me a three hour minimum which is exactly how long it took the whole move. The guy on the phone was very easy to understand and the movers were amazing Tim and David we're very competent and work really fast, they actually jogged back-and-forth from the truck. I would give Meathead Movers more stars as most of the guys were good but there were to many issues - which caused the move to take much longer. Our move was set for 4 movers and 3 hours. We moved 7 miles away. The guys that were supposed to come were reassigned and they sent another team. The lead showed up sick and got sick in front of our apartment. The move went down to three guys. Which took longer because most of the furniture required 2 guys at a time to move. Another guy walked through our apartment screen door. Then the sick lead was the one that drove. A 15 minute drive took 30 minutes. They charge double time during drive time. They charged us an hour in drive time for driving 7 miles. Oh, and they took a longer lunch in the middle of the move and charged us for drive time for that as well. In the end a 3 hour move turned into a 5 hour move, which was roughly 6 1/2 hours in total after their lunch. Not to mention they wanted to comp us per weight for the property damage, which seemed extremely odd that they didn't want to cover the property damage to the apartment. I would not recommend Meathead Movers to anyone. While the guys were really nice and the ones who worked did a good job, they quote you at a lower rate to get you to hire them and then screw up the move and end up costing you $317 per hour in addition to what they originally quoted you. My $900 quoted move ended up costing us over $1500 in the end. Be careful to add additional time on to the quoted move. Or you'll regret it. read more
