Took advantage of 2 Disabled ladies. Got quoted from a service person for 4000.00 to pack all artworks, all of the garage, all room's and all we got was the heavy stuff. Threw all of the stuff on top of the heavy stuff on the middle of the room. . We had to hire another moving company. (2 men) to help us finish. We tried calling to talk to them one person ( Jacob) said they usually send some more men to get everything they forgot. Guess what? Never heard from them again. So, thanks for taking advantage of us Disabled ladies. If ur a woman, don't use this company. If I could, I would give them -4. After eight years living in the flat lands not far from the coast, we decided to move into the hills to enjoy the panoramic views of downtown Ventura and the Pacific Ocean. We had initially planned to do the entire move ourselves, that is, until we came to our senses and decided that getting professional help was a much better idea. I did Google & Yelp searches and opted to contact Meathead Movers. The booking & estimate process was, in my opinion, very easy and straightforward. I contacted the local office, received a suggestion that I use their website to complete an inventory form, and then they would contact me with the pricing and finalize the moving day & time. The two movers that came to our place were on time, ready to get to work, and they worked way harder & smarter than I could have imagined. Hired them a 2nd time. WORSE service, took advantage of payment. moved with meathead in 2021, 0 issues, perfect job, paid an est $950 for the job of a 2+2 apartment moving 20-25 min away. Moving me from an upstairs until, to a bottom floor unit. Moved with them again in 2022, had all boxes at the front end of the garage & 90% of stuff in the living room to move. 2 kids showed up, updated my inventory, updated my quote by double & added 2 guys. Thinking this would be a quick job if there's more help..wrong. These guys talked, WALKED (when their slogan is they jog when they don't have things in their hand). It took them 4 hours to pack my stuff into their truck with 4 kids & all my stuff organized for them to take. They took 3.5 hours to move my stuff in to a 3 story townhome. I was floored when they charged me $2600 total. My "inventory" didn't increase by 260%, why did my total for my move go from $950 last year & $2600 this year..???? My move was on a non premium day which made my hourly rate about the same or slightly less than last year. & I was moving from a ground floor to a 3 story townhome. You would think they would take more time to unload than to load, but of course they were done by the time they were scheduled to get off at 6pm. They broke my power base bed frame & didn't say anything about it. They broke my cat tree and didn't say anything about it. They offered $230 off & to remove $91 because the "team captain" did his math wrong and over charged me by $91. They also left multiple boxes in the garage that said MASTER bedroom, LIVING ROOM or had my daughters name on them for her room. The laziness is embarrassing. DO NOT USE THEM. You're better off supporting a small business moving company who will charge you a flat rate and get the job done. We use Meathead movers for the second time The first we didn't have the best experience. But the second crew out did themselves. We had Mentor - Dillon Cravens and Meathead Mover - Malachi Parker. Very disorganized and slow to respond. I am a designer and hired this company to handle a move for a client. Items were moved out of the house for a floor refinishing project, then back inside when the floors were finished. A few pieces of furniture went missing during the process. I reached out numerous times to dispatch asking them to check with the guys who worked the job to see if they remember where they were located. I never got a call back, and every time I called to follow up it Was like groundhogs day, having to explain the entire story again and again. it took nearly a month before they sent out a new crew to help find the items, and when they couldn't be located, I was told there was nothing they could do. After nearly a month passed, it's no surprise the items couldn't be found at that point and I had to pay out of pocket to replace the items for my client. During the job the movers were VERY slow. One guy was training and my client was billed for time spent explaining and teaching the new hire. Movers would stand around talking and waiting while one guy was wrapping furniture. That sort of thing. The whole experience was very disappointing and put me in a difficult position with my client. I won't be working with them again. read more

I'm leaving this review in the hopes that it helps someone else determine if Meathead Movers is the appropriate moving company for them. It wasn't for me. This company is pricey compared to others, but they have all the necessary permits, licenses, and insurance, so I figured "better safe than sorry." Well, it didn't work out well for me. On the day of the move, the movers refused to move me. I had signed a contract days before, confirmed everything-- they even looked up my apartment on google maps. I lived at the edge of Koreatown on a street with multiple apartment buildings. Parking is rough. The day of the move, there was no parking available. That typically isn't a problem-- there is a middle lane with yellow lines on each side that movers (or any other large truck) typically use when loading/unloading. I saw this happen nearly every day I lived in that apartment. The movers who moved me in did this too. However, Meathead movers refused to park there, worried they would get a ticket. A police officer drove by them and said nothing-- when we pointed this out to them, they said they wouldn't park there. They also said it was "too dangerous" to cross a lane of traffic to get to the truck with my belongings. We were going back and forth about this and a curbside spot became available. They pulled into the spot but felt that the spot was too dangerous because a tree and the truck were touching. They were afraid of damaging the truck or the tree, so they had to leave. At this point they were parked in the spot, so I'm not really sure why they couldn't just load my stuff into the truck. What did it matter if they pulled out of the spot now or in two hours once my stuff was loaded into the truck? Ultimately they left and left us without movers. Someone did call later that night and wanted to know when we were going to reschedule. We declined to reschedule as we couldn't guarantee a parking space for them that would meet their requests. So, unless you can guarantee the perfect parking spot in your neighborhood, this company is not for you. read more

These guys were awesome. Very polite, helpful, FAST. They run doing everything! They finished in way less time than I thought they would. My sister used them twice and referred to me after we had a terrible experience with another moving company. I highly recommend Meathead. They stopped the clock when they were trying to get their truck up our driveway and it was taking a bit of time (we didn't ask them to stop it, they just did which we thought was nice) They were very conscientious, wrapped items that the other company left unwrapped (like our baby's crib) and mostly were just quick and easy to work with. 5 stars! read more

While I agree with other reviews that they are a bit on the pricier side, it was worth it and I was quite happy with their service. The 3 guys they sent arrived on time, we're very friendly, followed our directions well, and got the move done quickly and efficiently. We hired this company again since they did our last move & everything went just fine. This time was an entirely different story ... the quote they gave us was reasonable based on the fact that we had 2 locations to move out of, a storage unit & our residence. When the movers got to our storage unit we were then informed that they 1 - could not take anything that was loose and 2 - items that were not on the "inventory" they were given. They had to charge us more to take anything that hadn't been added to the manifest they were given. Plus charged us 30 minutes of time to bring my Peloton which took all of 10 minutes to bring downstairs. So, unless you have an extremely detailed list of all your belongings or enjoy being nickel & dimed I would recommend not hiring them. read more

Moved everything efficiently and in one piece. Courteous and polite movers. Sent the contract in advance to review. Protected the floors and my furniture. TIP - book a week day mid month for a discount. While it wasn't the cheapest company, I liked that they jogged between loads to save time and that they had a rigorous training program. Other companies contract out just anyone. I liked having the peace of mind going with a higher quality company. They wrapped up everything to keep it safe during the move and put it to where I directed. TIP - keep an eye on things while they're loading up. One of the movers was trying to deconstruct an IKEA bed and I had to stop him, assuring him it'll fit out the door in one piece because it came in that way. Also since I wasn't moving a lot of stuff, the furniture could stay in one piece. read more

Everything about buying our first home was so stressful, but once they arrived they took charge, handling everything so carefully and efficiently, relieving my stress immediately. We had just spent 2 weeks moving everything that we physically could. We finally threw in the towel and hired a moving company. Getting a quote and locking in a moving date was fast and easy. The guys came from the Ventura office. Both guys were courteous and explained everything right up front. All items were wrapped in blankets and plastic wrap to prevent any damage to the items or walls. They were in and out in no time flat. Arriving at the new house was just as fast and easy. I used Meathead movers for a move not even 2 miles down the road. I was quoted a little over $700 for two guys. I didn't have that much stuff, I was moving out of the room I was renting so that was basically it. Well when the two guys showed up I was presented a stack of papers (prob like 10-15) and told to sign all these paragraphs. I asked what would happen if I didn't sign it, and wanted to take a few minutes to read through everything. They told me they would leave, and then i'd be stuck. So (stupidly) I signed everything. then he told me the cost wouldn't be $700... it would be $1,100! Again, if I didn't agree they would leave. Once they started moving everything, the "supervisor" was barely moving. and the younger guy and myself where sweating profusely! It took from 9am - 4pm with the supervisor having to take frequent breaks because his Achilles kept hurting... like bro, then you're in the wrong business...all to move 1 bedroom! They then cracked my dresser in half... literally in half! but because I signed all those papers they weren't responsible... like seriously?!? Then when they left, they left all their paperwork, power tools, multiple blankets, and plastic wrap. long story short... DON'T USE THEM!! I wish I would have done more research. :( read more

Very unhappy with our experience especially after multiple attempts to get in contact with a customer service manager. They keep telling me they will call me back but never do. The movers damaged our baby's crib; there are two decent sized nicks in the wood. They also poorly reassembled our guest bed frame leaving hardware lying next to it (screws and dowels). The bed frame is loose and wobbly, so I will have to disassemble it and reassemble again which is unfortunate since we paid them to assemble it. On top of that, they charged us for two trucks for our move but they only ended up needing one. We questioned why we had to pay for both trucks when writing the check and the mover said they called their corporate office to get a price change, but said they didn't answer so they would give us a call and offer some sort of reimbursement for the second truck. The icing on the cake though is one of the packers used our bathroom, which is completely fine, but he somehow got poop all over the toilet seat and seat cover and did not clean it up. Weird move and very unprofessional. I get that things happen, but the packing/moving service was pretty pricey so I expect top notch professionalism. Still waiting for a call, and for some sort of reimbursement. read more

Watch out for this company. They don't back up their estimates and they don't provide quality employees. It took three men 8 hours to move a simple two bedroom apt. They don't jog as advertised. They don't even walk quickly. It took them double the the time that was quoted. And when I talked to management they blamed the elevator which worked and had no traffic. I had high hopes for this company after viewing their commercials for years. It started off well enough and we went over the items to be delivered multiple times. The quote was higher than expected but I liked the idea of paying student movers, so I accepted the price. On the day of the move the team leader did a walk through and took plenty of notes. After about 15 minutes and a call to a supervisor he came back and said our price would be $1000 more (25% higher) and the truck might not be big enough. He asked if I was willing to pay more or reschedule? Well our house was closing a few days later so I was stuck. He said there were no TVs on the list while we had 2 large screens. He also noted that our storage bins we were twice the amount on the list. I was very upset but had to keep moving. It turns out that the estimator Sara misquoted our inventory in what I believe was a "bait and switch". Give a low quote and then extort more fees later. I filed a complaint with her supervisor Nick who said he would review the audio of our calls and get back to me the next day. Well he didn't call so I reached back out and he agreed that Sara did a poor job and would use it as a "teaching moment" with her. I asked "what about the overcharge"? I pointed out that I still had to make two more 200 mile round trips to get the items they left and he said he was "unaware" of this... Sooo, they bait and switch your estimate, overcharge for services, under deliver on product, and extort higher fees. Half of the stuff on the extra list weren't even delivered!!! Save yourself the trouble and go with another vendor, there is no shame to this company! read more

We had two movers come to move our items into a POD. The movers were quick, and for the most part followed our directions of which items to place in the back and which to place near the front of the POD, for easy access once moved. They did scratch our hardwood floor somewhere in the process, but the customer service team was quick to offer us a discount. I have yet to fully unpack my POD so I cannot speak to if anything was damaged due to poor packing. There were items that were just thrown on top with no regard to keeping them safe, or making it easy to unload. I was happy that they were fast, I was happy with the price, I was not super happy with the way things were packed. read more

I hope that this helps someone else by sharing my story. BEWARE. I hired Meathead Movers to move my mother one month before the set date to move. She sold her home after almost 50 years and had to be moved on the day scheduled because the new owners were moving in. The Meathead Movers truck was supposed to be at the house at 10 am. At 9:30 a.m. I received a call from the dispatch, saying they were sorry but they would not be coming. They were cancelling the move. They said that they had two guys call in sick and could no longer do the move. We were promised 4 guys. I asked them (begged them) to pull one or two guys from one or two other jobs, we could do it with 3 guys... I offered to help them load the truck myself. I did everything I could... they were not coming. They would not budge. Bottom line, you cannot count on Meathead Movers and if you do plan on them doing your move, you should have a back up plan. NO NOT hire these guys. I did, and I feel so stupid for doing so. Their 2 movers just left my house and the service was PITIFUL! They sent 2 very young, very small, VERY inexperienced movers to move 2 pieces of exercise equipment and a dinning room table. They were not strong enough and didn't know what to do. They damaged my home trying to remove the treadmill so they called 2 more guys. The 2 new guys show up after 1/2 an hour and didn't know what to do either. I finally had to tell and show them how to remove the treadmill. After the truck was loaded, the 2 new guys left so the two original guys were left to off load the truck. When they were moving the table into my house they, for some reason, decided to turn it on its side even though they did not need to. When they tried that, they dropped it breaking off one of the legs and chipping off a big chunk of the corner. I was able to fix the leg with some screws while they were still there so we could turn the table right side up. One of their young guys was two tired or weak to keep working, so ME and the other mover easily carried the table into my house. I called the office to speak with someone about this nightmare before they left, and was told I had to speak with just the movers they sent. read more

We used meathead movers five years ago and they were terrific. We called them again this week to move an antique Chinese hutch out of our independent parents residence to our home. Unfortunately when they got there the hutch was not there (long story). They left, we got the hutch back and meathead came back, very kindly for the second time. I have moved countless times in the last ten years, from a 3 story house to a studio apartment, etc. this his is by far the best moving company ever! I had a very last minute move when I didn't find out my roommate didn't pay (I paid him, he paid the building) the rent, and I only found out from the building manager (not him) until the 25th of the month, and we were already in the eviction process. They were so helpful in every way, including being able to fit me into there busy schedule. My boss has used them a few times, with no problems, and he has some expensive art a a lot of framed photography, no problems ever. I always like to use local businesses when possible and so glad I did. My experience with the typical well known companies such as Atlas, etc. was no where near as pleasant or inexpensive. I called Meathead Movers and had the most pleasant and professional experience I've had yet with a moving company. Alyssa was great about following up and ensuring I had all the assistance I would need. Raine and Johnny showed up on time and with a positive attitude. Not only were these two strong but also very fast! We got a 20 foot truck unloaded in less than an hour - they did offer us a "VIP" seat so we could chill while they did all the work but my husband and I were fine to help unload our things. Giving Meathead 3 stars (generous) because: - their "customer service" person needs to understand a few things - like when you should hang up on someone giving feedback because she "sensed hostility." Know when? NEVER. Give me a break. She needs to realize that she's working in a SERVICE INDUSTRY. If you don't want honest feedback - don't ask for it. And don't call & ask for it either. She is rude and condescending - not very good at her job. Maybe she should be a barista. (Just a suggestion.) - The actual mover guys were decent. Not great. Just decent. Young and seemingly ignorant about reading clearly marked boxes & putting them in the correct room. A bit of eye rolling too - they need to watch that. They need to remember that they're in a SERVICE INDUSTRY. Gave 'em a good tip nonetheless. They worked pretty hard. Some advice: call around. Meathead seems kinda meatheaded. Expensive. Strange "rules" about maximum time so ASK FOR CLARIFICATION. (The "Customer Service" person is kinda dim and has been described above.) Beware! Rip Off Alert! I hired them to move a 4 bedroom house less than 1 mile away, I told them the packers need to use my boxes before charging me for some. They did not charge me a ton for boxes I did not need, forgot to pack many items and the trucks could not hold it all, their comment? You should have estimated better! WHAT! they did estimate via video chat when I asked them to come in person, no we can do video chat and get it all, well not so much! 5k! and I still ended up packing some of my own stuff and moving via my own car! I'm the poor sap that had to help my sister fix everything that they screwed up after they had the simple task of emptying and then putting back item in her storage unit in a more orderly fashion ..well they got everything out alright but it was a complete nosedive after that! We have used Meathead Movers three times over the last ten years and we have recommended them to everyone we know. They are professional, clean, quick, and super careful. They have never left a mark on a wall or damaged any furniture. This last job was a smaller one- just moving some furniture from one house to another but yet again, they were amazing. They put the furniture together expertly and efficiently. They are also patient and great with kids who like to "help" with moving or assembling. Angel, Jacob, and Dale were just great.
