I was looking for some pork for my homemade sausage and one of the better places is the Meat Market. I needed some pork butt to add to my venison and elk meat and there are only a few places to get it. It was about 10 pounds in weight and plenty of fat (you need fat for the lean wild game) it cut up nicely and grinding it was very easy. The quality was good and the taste is what we were looking for. They keep them in the back in the freezer so you have to ask for it, and it being frozen helps when grinding. I did see some of the biggest tri-tips I've ever seen, and leg of lamb, anything you might need is there. read more

Stopped by to pick up my online order. Was told by the manager that my order was canceled. I order twice the first time I received an email stating that my order was canceled. I ordered again thinking I did something wrong. That order went through. When I arrived at the store the manager was called to speak with me. He told me that my order was canceled and that I should have received an email stating so. I did not receive any cancellation email. Manager was rude and did not seem to care about my order which totaled out to be a little over $350.00 dollars. No apology nor offered another product. This is my third time coming to this store, unfortunately my last. I own my own business and I know how to treat customers, this is not the way. I will tell everyone not to go there for their meats. This sure isn't the meat market I remember. I used to like going here for quality cuts of meat. Was willing to pay a little more to have some good stuff to grill up. Bought 2 tritips to make for the 4th of July and those things had so much fat it was just ridiculous. This isn't the first time. I started buying them at Costco for that reason but that I'd give the meat market another try and it's just gotten worse. Definitely will not be going back anytime soon. read more

I have been going to the meat market for at least 25 years. I started going to the Clovis one at least 10 years ago. I have always gotten a beautiful, wonderful, tender, juicy tri-tip sandwich from them. Today I expected the same. When I got home and looked at my sandwich, the meat was burnt. They look like I got the burnt ends of a roast. When I called to complain about this, I was told I could bring my receipt and the food back and they'll give me a different one. I live 15 to 20 minutes away. I cannot do that tonight. I did not get a receipt. I was just told my number. I was told they would give me a refund if I bring the sandwich and the receipt back. They also mentioned that they "trying something new" on their meat by dipping in Ajou and then frying it on the flat top grill. This clearly doesn't work as they are burning the meat. They dried it out and it's horrible. Buyer beware. I don't think I'll be back there for a long time as I cannot trust their oath to the customers nor consistency with their beef. read more

During our current Covid-19 stay in place directive I decided to head over to get a few items to put in the freezer: Italian sausage, chicken, and possibly salad. 1. Tri-tip Tuesday is cancelled. 2. Social distancing spots are not marked on the floor. 3. The young guy wrapping my items behind the counter was wearing gloves but put the sticker on his cap before removing it and placing it on the package of my items. I haven't been back to the store in 2 weeks so maybe things have changed and additional steps have been taken to support a healthy environment during this pandemic. read more

Clovis-19 phase: The worker was very nice. I went up and ordered a bbq chicken sandwich with no mayo or mustard and added provolone and mushrooms. Paid for it and he said it would be ready shortly! It was pretty empty, but really simple. My order was ready pretty quickly and I took it home to enjoy! One of the workers even wished for a good day before leaving. Appreciated! The bbq chicken sandwich was really good! Just wish it had more bbq sauce. Luckily I ended up having my own so it made it better, Really good with the provolone and mushroom! Reccommended! read more

We will never go to meat market again! We've had multiple bad experiences there. Tonight was the worst. Yesterday I bought some beef there yesterday opened it up and it smelled terrible and was gray. I took it back to them today to return and he said no returns unless you have the receipt. I told him the packing slip is right there on the package, you can see this was this yesterday. I come here all the time . He said no it's our store policy. It was like $60 worth of meat. I said well I'm never coming back here again then I'm gonna tell everybody that you sold me bad meat. He said fine. I've been here for 14 years I know more people than you. I said OK. He refused to even sell me steaks for my dinner that night so I had to go somewhere to get food. That was the manager! Terrible staff! Horrible customer service!! Costco has great beef and meat. In general, Whole Foods is amazing, sprouts is great! The market off of Herndon and West is awesome! And Meat up is probably the best beef in town. Go anywhere except the meat market! read more

Meat Market quality has dropped considerably over the year's! I quit buying their hamburger due to the taste! They still had good Tri-Tip but over the years even that has been getting more & more fat on it which for a meat you buy by the pound is not a good thing! I can actually go to the big box store and buy Tri-Tip with a lot less fat on it! I actually had one Tri-Tip I bought that I swear was half fat so this time I decided to take pictures and post them and all though it's not half fat but in my guesstimation it's at least 25% fat! read more

I would say that this meat market isn't exactly the best. You can see in the photos their efforts into their Togo food isn't exactly very good. But besides that I took the chicken tenders out and those were good! But I didn't like the brisket Sandwhich very much and the loaded fries weren't worth the money. To be fair this place really needs a separate review for the grill and the market. I have always come here just for the market. They have excellent quality meats and have the best cuts of porterhouse I can find. It has extensive marbling of fat and yet always perfectly trimmed on the outside. Most other places also cut the portion way too thin. The thickness is key to be able to search the outside of the meat at high temps and yet leave the middle rare. I have also called them ahead when I need to order Korean stay brisket. They freeze a portion for me and then slice it thin when I there I am not a fan of the grill, it's not anything special and I echo sentiments that the meats can come out lukewarm for sitting around for too long. Paper on counter says refills are 50 cents. My girls went up to get a refill. The guy told them it was $2.15, and was rude and laughed at them. I went back up to complain, he laughed at me, he said he can't give me a refill no matter what the menu says or what's advertised. I said you should honor it because it's false advertising. He said he can't do anything. I asked for the manager and said she was in the main store. He then proceeded to laugh again super loud and annoying as I walked away. Went and found the manager to complain, said that was their policy. I said then you need to change your sign because that's false advertising. Told her also about her rude employee. She did nothing to make a customer happy or even return. She could have given my girls a drink for free, or honored the freaking 50 cent refill, but she didn't. Awful customer service all the way around. Our sandwiches were made wrong, and not given the correct condiments. They were cold/ lukewarm as well. I wouldn't have complained about the food, but because of the one employees attitude towards my girls, who are 12, and the awful customer service of both the manager and employee, just in regards to a freaking 50 cent refill, then I'm gonna complain about everything. This was my first time to the Clovis Meat Market. Have only gone to the Fresno location (worked about 1 mile from it). They have such a nice selection of cheeses, spices, various meats, etc at decent prices. We picked up 4 very large marinated chicken breasts for around $5.50 & 2 packs of twice baked potatoes for about $4.50. The potatoes had lots of bacon on top and chunks of ham - tasty!! Bought boneless skinless chicken thighs and "Bulldog Steaks" (Very tender and not ruff ) and the wife and kids loved it.
