Tri tip dinner plate

Location: Chucks BBQ Clovis Date: September 15, 2025 Service: Take Out First time ever at Chuck's BBQ restaurant located in Clovis area. I was referred by friends to try this barbecue spot out. The drive was short, which is great and there is parking right out front of the establishment. It's been a minute since I had some barbecue cuisine. The restaurant setting was like old school. I was able to get my food and under 15 minutes. The server Sandi was super nice and very prompt with helping the customer. I was the tri-tip meal with rice, pilaf, and mac & cheese. And some barbecue sauce. Check out the photo attached to this review.

Almost left it out! Fresh roll to top it off! =)

9/4/25 Been a while! BBQ sounds good! I called and ordered the half chicken plate with potato salad and hickory smoked beans . The worker was very kind and said it would be ready in 30 min. Arrived!! Short wait. Let worker know and it was ready and waiting! Paid for it and wished a good day! Appreciated! Safe and clean inside. Lots of seating. Comfortable. Lunchtime! Really Great, DELICIOUS lunch! Tender seasoned chicken. Spicy BBQ sauce made it even better! Hickory Smoked Beans were FLAVORFUL! Great hickory taste! Potato salad was really Great too! Tasty GREAT lunch. Oh, almost forgot, fresh tasty roll too! It's A LOT! 1/2 was plenty! Another lunch! Good service & Really GREAT lunch! Highly recommended!!

I wish they had multi-meat combo deals. But the family meal was worth it for $60 since you can choose multiple meats. We personally like a punch of flavors so wasn't for us, but solid BBQ. Worth checking out!

Food was delicioso ! A hidden gem. Had brisket baked beans rice pilaf. Service was great. Small place but well worth it.

Still love this place and after trying a couple more things-the boneless ribs are a favorite!! So are the dinner rolls. Service is top notch and everyone is so nice. I went with my 7 month old daughter about a month ago and she was fine waiting for a bit then got fussy so I took her to the car and was going to give a few minutes and then take her back in to wait, well the gal working brought my food out to me to my car. I appreciated it! The only thing so far that has not been a winner to me is the coleslaw. It had way too much dressing for my taste and I just couldn't do it. I'm sure some folks love it like that, but it's not my cup of tea. Always pretty relaxed here and usually folks waiting for their food but I've been with an overwhelming amount of people. They do a great job with phone orders too. Highly recommend those during lunch time!

Pulled pork, potato salad, and boneless ribs. This is after I made my first pass of eating LOL

What's convenient is they have a posted paper at the front to tell you what they ran out of, so you know when you order. They ran out of their 2 cobblers, chicken lollipop (I usually find that they run out of this often) and pork belly today. Took 10 mins to get food after ordering. A good amount of spots to eat inside and outside. We ordered two 2-meat plates + cornbread. All in all, we had their brisket, burnt ends, tri-tip, and ribs + coleslaw, potato salad, Mac & cheese, and beans as sides. We've tried almost everything at earlier visits and burnt ends are still my fav. All meats are tasty with their special rub, as well as their OG bbq sauce on the burnt ends. No notes for any of the sides- just delicious! Also if you like some heat, definitely get their spicy BBQ sauce on the side. This will forever be my fav BBQ spot!

Ordered a two meat platter of brisket and chile verde ribs with a side of potato salad chili beans with brisket. While chile verde ribs weren't my first choice it was surprisingly really good and tender. Brisket was amazing, fall apart and full of flavor. The barbecue sauce on the side was just an added touch but honestly it's so seasoned you don't really need much. The sides were both delicious! What really stood out here besides the amazing food is the amazing staff! The owner Anthony went around and chatted with everyone like we were all friends and family. His aunt brought us honey cornbread on the house just to try which was so thoughtful ! Anthony's wife at the counter was so nice and helpful because we knew we came at closing time yet she still got us two full plates of what was available. Now helpful tip: you gotta come early ! Everything sells out fast !!!!! There are literally lines to the parking lot before they even open! Everything is so damn good people are willing to line up at 10am. Barbecue for breakfast type good! I will back soon and plan to load up on the Texas twinkies I see all over tik tok

The tri-tip sandwich is my go to and it never disappoints, tender, flavorful meat every single time. It's great as is, but I usually add the BBQ sauce on top, which just takes it to another level. The bread is buttery and garlicky, exactly how I like it, and it pairs perfectly with everything. The pulled pork is great too, and the hot link sandwich is another solid choice, full of flavor with just the right amount of heat. This time I only ordered the rice pilaf, but I usually get the chili beans as well, they've got a nice little kick of spice. It's a bit farther from me, but not nearly far enough to keep me from back!

The pulled pork sandwich was excellent, with contrasting textures and balanced flavors that…read morecombined smoky, tender meat with tangy sauce, crunchy slaw, and a soft, toasted bun. It was succulent, saucy, and deeply comforting. The pork was rich and exceptionally moist without being mushy, carrying deep smoky and savory flavors from the slow-smoking process and well-seasoned rub. The BBQ sauce was equally well-balanced--subtly spiced, tangy, and slightly sweet. It complemented the richness of the pork rather than masking it, and I appreciated that it was neither overly drippy nor sticky. The vinegary housemade slaw added the perfect contrast, bringing fresh crunch along with a briny, acidic sharpness that balanced the savory meat beautifully. The garlic-butter French roll held everything together nicely without falling apart, yet remained soft enough to absorb the sauce. I was not nearly as impressed with the tri-tip sandwich, which happens to be their best seller, though I still enjoyed it overall. The tri-tip itself was on point: thinly sliced, tender, medium-rare smoky beef piled onto a garlic-toasted French roll and complemented by tangy BBQ sauce. It delivered smoky, savory, juicy flavors with a satisfying contrast between the tender meat and the crunchy bread, which held the juices well without becoming soggy. That said, I thought the sandwich could have used a little more meat, which likely explains the popularity of the Jump Tri-Tip -- a larger version of the regular tri-tip sandwich that adds more meat on the same excellent bread for only a few dollars more. I also felt the sandwich needed an additional element to elevate it further--perhaps caramelized onions for sweetness, melted cheese for richness, or a sharper horseradish cream or garlic aioli to add more depth and contrast. Service was warm and friendly throughout, and I was always greeted with a smile.

Ordering is done at an outdoor window--no indoor walk-in--which actually adds to the charm. It's quick, efficient, and keeps things moving. Don't let that fool you though, the quality of the food is top-tier. We tried the brisket sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak, and both were outstanding. The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with deep, smoky flavor--exactly what you want. The Philly cheesesteak was just as impressive, loaded with meat, perfectly seasoned, and full of bold, rich flavor in every bite. Easily some of the best we've had. Seating is outdoors, and honestly, it's not bad at all--especially in good weather. It's a laid-back vibe where you can just enjoy your food without feeling rushed. Between the unique ordering setup, great flavors, and solid outdoor seating, this place hits all the marks. Definitely coming back to try more off the menu.

I'll gladly pay more for high quality and less processed meats and produce. This time around I left with a maple brown sugar brats and jalapeño cheese bratwurst. Like I did said, the staff here is always nice and they're still serving tri-tip burritos and sandwiches. Support local!

I loved the coleslaw because it wasn't too mayonnaisey, more of a subtle vinegar flavor.
