This is my third or 4th trip to Chucks. I am trying to order something different every time I go! I also go at different times of the day, and of the week. The service is always excellent and down home friendly. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming always! The tables are always clean and the food is just mouth watering good!!!!! Today I had a plate of boneless ribs with two sides: potato salad and rice pilaf. My daughter had tri tip sandwich with fries and hickory smoked beans Plate. The meat tender, juicy, and fall apart delicious! Everything is just homemade delicious! I think about it when I am working! Cooking! All the time! This place is small and when they get busy, it gets loud in here! They do have outdoor seating, but not the most comfy. During our visit they were out of a lot of items and only had tri-tip, boneless ribs, and pulled pork. I was bummed because I love burnt ends. I went with the boneless ribs, baked beans, and coleslaw. The boneless ribs were delicious! Super tender, juicy, and slathered in a tangy BBQ sauce. My son loved the ribs as well. I tried my wife's tri-tip and it was just ok. The sides were also really good, with my favorites being the coleslaw, beans, and mac n cheese. For me, coleslaw is a staple for any good BBQ spot and Chuck's is spot on. Plus their mac n cheese is super creamy and fave for the whole table. I'd suggest calling in your order, in the morning to make sure that you'll get access to their full meaty menu. read more

Suggestions/personal preferences: Onion: IF a customer is specifically asking to 'add raw onion,' you should assume that they LIKE onion... without overcompensating understand that it's not always just the taste some are looking for but the TEXTURES! Into textures here! And yeah, then taste. Mayo: IF a customer asks specifically about mayo, wanting it on BOTH sides of the bun, you might assume, 'Guy like's mayo' and firm that up a bit more. Perhaps offer extra on the side. (On-going Dream Burger) Standards for me, start with the dressing of the bun. I could hardly taste the mayo. It was on so thin! Way important here, I NEED that spread edge to edge on both sides and thicker, please. **please don't include packs of ketchup as I didn't request and don't use them. Hate tossing things without using but got 'juicy burger juice' on 'em. :) P-Salad: While tasty, might experiment with some pickles, even chopped olives. Again texture differences and flavor. We ordered over tbe phone and our food was ready to be picked up in 20 minutes. Being from Kansas City we have some pretty high standards for BBQ and Chuck's definitely did not disappoint. We ordered the burnt end platters and the smoke level was excellent. They were sauced well and had a sweet and tangy bbq sauce coating. The sides were good; beans, cole slaw and mac and cheese topped off the meal. Would highly recommend! read more

The tri tip is so tender and flavorful without it being too salty, and honestly, all the options we tried were exactly that (flavorful without being salty or dry). We got one plate with Tri tip, rice pilaf, and mashed potatoes. For the second plate we got brisket with Mac n cheese and potato salad. Delicious!! First time here and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. We ordered a plate which came with one meat and two sides. We chose the brisket, coleslaw and mashed potatoes. We added an additional meat (chicken) for $4, and two extra sides (beans and Mac n cheese) all of this came to about $35. WY more good than we needed for just two of us, but we wanted to try it all. A social group I belong to decided to have Chuck's BBQ cater our Christmas luncheon event. Definitely a five star experience of food. We had a whole buffet of tri-tip, chicken, and pork. The sides that our group chose were potato salad, beans, rice pilaf, and mixed green salad. Everything was super scrumptious. The tri-tip was melt in your mouth tender. Everything was served in those large aluminum foil tray, so it was easy for our group to set everything out and have a self served buffet line. We had roughly 25 people. Tri-tip was tender and in a meaty broth so it stayed moist. The barbecue chicken was all different types of chicken pieces, including wings so people could have a leg or a breast or whatever they liked. The barbecued pork was the bomb. I think they did Country ribs because it was extremely meaty and nice and crispy and burnt around the edges and in their own signature barbecue sauce. We had barbecue sauce on the side so you could put that over your meats or leave it off. The beans were just delicious, perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The potato salad was also yummy and creamy. Chuck's barbecue seasons it with dillweed which many people just adore. At first, I did not take much of the rice pilaf because if I'm going to have carbs, it's gonna be potatoes, six ways to sunday. However, after tasting the rice pilaf, this was one of the best rice pilafs I've ever had! Really good flavor and seasonings. Finally the mixed green salad had all kinds of tender baby greens, shredded red cabbage, shredded carrots, and grape cherry tomatoes. I'm not sure the choices of dressings, but our group just chose one which was ranch and suited it perfectly. Alls I gotta say is OOO WEE!! I was at a friends house celebrating their son's birthday when I tried chucks bbq! So this review will be based on that experience. The food showed up right on time with a friendly staff member who was all smiles. She was very pleasant and helpful. My friend ordered A LOT of food!! Every single thing was so delicious! He got bbq chicken, bbq ribs, tri tip, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, rice pilaf, salad, rolls and butter. There was so much good food!! The ribs were juicy and sauced up real nice. The tri tip was tender, juicy and well seasoned. The Mac n cheese was creamy and dreamy!! It was my favorite! The mashed potatoes were well salted (not overly) and creamy even with the skins in it! Maybe it was our fault for going two hours before closing on the day after Christmas. First let me say that my sides were delicious, cole slaw had an excellent flavor and so did the beans. The brisket was decent but obviously warmed over, and the sauce was top notch. We made the mistake of ordering a hamburger though, and it was about a 4/10 to be kind; the meat looked a little on the beige side. Probably from earlier in the week? Unhappy experience today. Chuck's got a new cash register in the last week or two. They also raised their prices at least 13% for most items, and said they weren't able to give me my senior discount. Being on a fixed income, today's outstanding meal from Chuck's BBQ may sadly be my last. Life is rapidly getting less affordable. read more

Still love this place and after trying a couple more things-the boneless ribs are a favorite!! So are the dinner rolls. Service is top notch and everyone is so nice. I went with my 7 month old daughter about a month ago and she was fine waiting for a bit then got fussy so I took her to the car and was going to give a few minutes and then take her back in to wait, well the gal working brought my food out to me to my car. I appreciated it! The only thing so far that has not been a winner to me is the coleslaw. It had way too much dressing for my taste and I just couldn't do it. I'm sure some folks love it like that, but it's not my cup of tea. Always pretty relaxed here and usually folks waiting for their food but I've been with an overwhelming amount of people. I think I've found my new barbecue place! Yummy I must say. You're in for a long one readers ... The employees on todays visit were all super nice. Provided recommendations based on my mothers preferences. This time I (we) tried: Pulled Pork - 5 the port is juicy and and smoky just as it should be. You don't even need BBQ sauce. I'm sure the sandwich is delicious as well. It's hard to find pulled port that doesn't have too much fat. Their pulled pork is perfect! Boneless Ribs - 5 sometimes one thing that sucks about ribs is not knowing if you're going to get enough meat. The boneless ribs are excellent. The they do not disappoint. You get all of the benefits of eating ribs not hanging to hassle with the bones. The portions are generous. It's definitely more meat than you'd get with 3 bones. (I haven't tried the bone in ... but it this is easier for us ladies) the sauce is delicious ... perfect amount of sweetness to complement the meat. Brisket - 5 OMG! Talk about tender and smoky meat. It's so tender much chewing isn't required. Definitely someone that will be come my standard. Smokey and tender as it should be. Yum! French fries - 5 I am a french fry freak. I love fries ... over the burger or whatever I'm eating. The fries are perfectly crisp and seasoned to perfection. I get them for my son, but I end up stealing a couple of fries because they're so good. Out of all of the burger stands and restaurants, Chucks has the perfect crinkle cut fries. They're addicting actually. Get some ranch on the side and you're in heaven. Banana pudding - 5 OMG I love banana pudding. Theirs is very rich and with the price. It's nowhere near generic for sure. Probably the best banana pudding I've had. (I've made the easy version and the baked version .... It's GOOD) Jenny - 10 what an amazing owner. She cares about every customer. She is very approachable and generous. I had a nice conversation with her today ... she's super down to earth and takes care of her clientele. I wish more owners were like this. So, next time, which will be soon, I am coming back for the tri tip fries. I love that the prices don't break the bank like other BBQ places that charge by the lbs. Was craving BBQ for lunch and the place was wanted to originally try was closed so we decided to give this place a try since I heard so many great things. Nice open interior. We were greeted as we entered. I ordered the Tri Tip plate with Mac and cheese and garlic mashed. My husband ordered the chicken plate but was told there was only enough chicken as a side so they gave him an option to try another meat and have the chicken on the side with no extra charge. He chose brisket with a side of garlic mash and hickory smoked beans. Plate orders also come with a regular roll not toasted or warmed up. I enjoyed my tri tip it was flavorful and tender. The sides were good the Mac and cheese was cheesy the mash has so much flavor and very filling. My husband's chicken had good flavor but it was dry. The brisket was dry and we felt was over seasoned. They give a small side of bbq sauce not fully filled. He ended asking for more bbq sauce because of how dry it was and they were charging 50 cents for extra sauce and this time it was filled to the rim. His hickory smoked beans tasted like smoked pork and beans from a can. They sell Dad's Cookies for $3.50 and Banana pudding for desserts. Overall it was just okay. One of California culinary's worst kept secrets is that the Central Valley has some of the best BBQ in the entire state. Fresno County certainly has no shortage of spots for prime barbequed meats. I keep coming back to Chuck's because of the Kansas City burnt ends, deep flavored BBQ sauce, and perhaps one of the juiciest, tastiest bacon-cheeseburgers in town. I prefer Kansas City-style barbeque (or Kansas BBQ) because of the full-flavored BBQ sauces and because they let the meat first cook in its fat before brushing on the sauce to seal in the juices and the flavors of the sauce. The meats are also smoked in Applewood or some other fruit tree to give it that unique smoky essence. If you have not tried burnt ends before, it is the charred tips of smoked beef brisket. The first time I tried this famous Kansas BBQ dish was here. I have ordered it since at other places throughout Clovis. None can compare to how it is prepared at Chuck's. It is probably the best barbecued meat choice here and easily their most popular. All BBQ plates comes with two sides. There are also sandwich versions. They use some of their delicious beef tri-tip - my second favorite meat dish here - and ground it up fresh every morning into hamburger patties. The beef patties are well-seasoned, cooked medium-well (unless you tell them otherwise). You cannot get a burger this juicy and tasty with frozen meat or if it is not generously sprinkled with the right blended mixture of seasonings. Topped with red onions, lettuce, tomatoes on a Brioche bun and a side of their famous BBQ sauce. Request a slice of melted American cheese (there is also cheddar, Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack cheeses) and Applewood smoked bacon added-on. Then you have the perfect burger! Toss in an order of steak fries and a soft drink, and you will have one of the best lunch combos you will find in town. The Pulled Pork sandwich is nearly as amazing! A little savory, a little sweet and a lot of flavor in that slow-cooked shredded pork shoulder meat. Definitely also recommended. The side dishes are good to very good. One of the few places I will order the potato salad. It is a nice combination of creaminess and hearty texture, not overly rich or too lathered with mayonnaise. The bread roll is soft and chewy. No sides are going to win any cooking contest, but I enjoy them all. If your stomach has room, it is hard not to pass on their thick layered cookies and the banana pudding. The chocolate chip is my personal favorite. I know the peanut butter and jelly, and the cookies and cream, are popular choices as well. Chuck's has a selection of draft and bottled beers, as also serves the Tioga General Sherman and Half Dome IPA's. Excellent customer service! First, the food was amazing! I will definitely come here again. This will be my go-to when I am craving a meal with a good amount of delicious meat. 100% *chef's kiss* Perfect. The choice of meat comes with 2 sides, a bread roll, and bbq sauce for a little over $13. The oooonly reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars that it would have deserved is because on my receipt (picture attached), they included a "Takeout Fee" of 78 cents. I know what you're thinking, 78 cents is nothing so I should just shut up and enjoy my meal. Wrong. If I come here 16 more times, I would have lost an equivalent of an additional plate of food. I wish I got the guys name in the front but he was so patient as I placed my order it being my first time. The atmosphere was a little quiet and the inside didn't smell like food so I was nervous but my god. I ordered brisket with burnt ends and beans with mac then ribs and tri tip rice mac and beans. The burnt ends were so tender. The food has so much flavor I didn't even open the bbq sauce. The beans have little chunks of meat in it. For the amount I spent I got a pretty decent amount. The add on for meat is only $4 so after tipping $5 I still walked with a lot of food for just around $50. I would've posted a picture lol but I couldn't stop eating. The bread is like a normal store roll and I ate it with the burnt ends in it. Basically you want the burnt ends lol. But the bbq is really good. You know I've seen this place on Facebook and the news, and I don't see the hype. For starters, a smile goes a long way. I think the whole time I was there I might've gotten a smirk. Especially if I walk in, they acknowledge me, and say nothing for more than a minute, then say what can I get for you? Didn't seem helpful really, nor didn't look patient with me. Also the tiny junk box in the lobby blaring music and the TV playing an old football game pretty loud as well. It is a small hole in the wall on the corner of Ashlan and Willow with a very small parking lot that's being taken up by a barber shop and smoke shop, along with the smokers/bbqs. So beware if it's busy. Speaking of busy, after I ordered, I realized there was 8 people, not orders, people waiting for their food, that was ahead of me and it took more than 20 minutes for my food to come out. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a small fry for $15 (no drink). The pulled pork is just a regular pulled pork sandwich with pretty good bbq sauce, the "toasted" garlic bread could've used maybe a few more moments on the grill or toaster. Not saying it wasn't good, not saying it wasn't bad. By the way, if you want the fries I got, those were $4 and if you wanted a large fry, that was $6 for crinkle fries Maybe next time I'll see if the $12 tri tip sandwich is any better than the $9 pulled pork sandwich, to see if that's what the big deal is.
