Food was so delicious, by far my favourite was the beef rib, I've never had such a juicy beef rib like the one they serve. I'm dead serious, I went to this popular BBQ place where I paid 40 bucks for a rib and they swear they are the best, it was dry and jerky like texture, I didn't finish it, brought it home to my dog. I've even had heritage BBQ and felt like their rib wasn't as good as this one. The brisket was too dry for me and the bread was soft not grilled (bummer) the chilli beans were really good, I'm glad I got them, too bad they were out of potatoe salad cuz I really wanted to try it. The mac N cheese as a side is not the best, bland and not cheesy, for a minute I thought it was plain macaroni salad. This is a little hole in the wall inside a gas station so not much room. Portions are a good size. I'll be going back to try some other meats. But definitely come give them a try and quench your BBq thirst here! I once ordered a brisket sandwich and was grossed out by the amount of fat and gristle in my sandwich. It ended up being half meat and half bulls&@t. I was hoping for this to be my great hole in the wall and was sorely disappointed. PS: don't know how the hell you get hard gristle in brisket. read more

1 plate ordered with 2 chicken breasts, 2 ribs, macaroni and cheese and chili beans for the sides and 2 rolls with spicy BBQ sauce. It took a bit to get the order right, but luckily, the worker was very nice and happy to make sure it was correct He said it would be 10 minutes. I walked in to get it. The worker was very nice! It is shared with a liquor store. Looking forward to enjoying it! Checked out and the order was ready. Paid for it. Also wished a good day! =) Lunch time! Got lunch set up and there was MAJOR disappointment! Especially after having a great experience chatting with the nice worker. Took everything out of the bag. The chicken breasts looked like they were cut in half. Little! He didn't do the chili beans that were ordered. Did mashed potatoes instead. I was so bummed! Should've looked before going. Mother was mad and called him and he said that's just how the chicken is. No way! He said he would have the beans ready and provide more chicken. We went all the way back across town to get it and were hungry. Walked back in and he apologized profusely, Gave more chicken and gave an extremely small amount of chili beans. He said the sizes of the the sides are 8 oz. They are not, at all. The macaroni was 7 and the chili beans was 4 oz. Also, the chicken breasts were 2oz each. Had to weigh them and I was right. Everything split for lunch. My rib was pretty good! Better dipped in BBQ sauce. The pieces of chicken breast were good. Nice flavor. Just not quite sure of how he got it. Especially given the way I saw him cut it. Hmm... The chili beans half was pretty good. Very small amount. Mother said the macaroni and cheese half was super salty and I completely agreed. The roll wasn't a roll. Looked like sub sandwich bread and it was fresh and good. The mistake mashed potatoes were pretty good. The spicy BBQ sauce was good too! Mother said hers was okay. Salty. She liked the spicy BBQ sauce. She liked the mistake mashed potatoes too. Appreciated him trying to make it better and apologizing, but I have to be true to Yelpers and wish the worker the best. Good service and okay lunch. Really wish it wasn't such a hassle to get and the sizes were Right. Plus, less salt. Lesson learned too! From now on, check the food before leaving. Especially when it's a 20 minute drive to go. When it was done twice to make up for the mistakes, none of it Is worth it. I wouldn't go if it was closer either. read more

Picked up some yummy BBQ from The Hotbox BBQ. They were at an event in Selma at Lincoln Park. I got the three meat combo plate. I chose tri tip, ribs and hot links. I had them put the sauce on the side. I'm not a huge sauce person. But this one was very good. For the sides I got the chili beans and mac and cheese. Everything was very good! This spot is a tack on to the Vallero Gas Station. Honestly, it makes the rest of the station look old and dilapidated. It's take-out only, and the menu is on a banner with the pricing written in with a red expo marker. The place is clean and has lots of convenience store offerings. In fact, once the order is placed, payment is done at the gas station register. The bbq sauce is amazing. The meats have a very pronounced smoke ring. I really enjoyed the hot links. They were only a little spicy, but the smoke cook and sauce made it great. The brisket was fatty, but there was plenty of meat. The tri-tip also had a pronounced smoke ring. However, it was very tough. It was kind of stuck between over cooked and undercooked. What makes the hot link good is the flavors prior to the cook. The rest of the meats really need to be seasoned with a rub or marinade before cooking. I was craving a good mac and cheese. So, I got a double order for my sides. Service was great and the portions are large. We didn't get to try the ribs due to an issue an issue with the wood, so it would be another half hour before those items were ready. We decided to get what was available, which was the cheddar and jalapeño hot link and brisket. The brisket was a little chewy, but the flavor was very good. I ordered mac and cheese and didn't realize until I got home I was given mashed potatoes. As much as I love to give good reviews, this place proved itself to be one of the worst places I have been to. One of the gentlemen were touching my food WITHOUT gloves on!! That has to be a food safety hazard! Especially since it was already off the grill. This place is also situated in the middle of a cold, cold parking lot. We tried the hotbox because of an Instagram post. First things first, we ordered ribs and brisket sides of beans, potatoe salad and Mac and cheese. What we got is tri tip and ribs got the beans, Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Tri tip was a little tough the ribs were good. The beans were salty and the Mac and cheese was gritty. The mashed potatoes needed something maybe gravy. The Instagram post it look delicious but having it made us look for another spot for BBQ. read more
