Meadowlark Dairy continues to be one of the best overall ice cream spots in terms of value, quality, and taste, whether you visit the Pleasanton location or this one. We came to this location since it's only about 12 minutes away from Pleasanton. Unlike the other location, there doesn't seem to be a drive-thru here, which was a little disappointing, but the inside is spacious and clean. There was a long line when we arrived, but it moved surprisingly fast, so don't let the crowd discourage you. The only downside during this visit was that the ice cream came out extremely melted. To the point where by the time we got back to the car, it was already dripping all over my hands. We went back inside to ask for a cup just to save the ice cream, but the staff noticed the mess and kindly offered to remake it instead, which I really appreciated. We love stopping by Meadowlark whenever we're in the area! Usually we go to the Pleasanton location, but when we found out they had a new location in Livermore we couldn't resist the allure for soft serve! This location in downtown Livermore looks like it used to be an old bank. The inside is clean and inviting though, with a mini market for snacks and frozens. We got a medium Pineapple + Vanilla swirl for that tart creamy combo! The soft serve is the perfect creamy, silky frozen milk texture, and is so addictive! A medium cone for 4$ gets you a swirly pile of soft serve almost half a foot tall, such amazing value that you really can't find anywhere else these days! All the workers are always very nice and cheerful just like at the Pleasanton location. And inside there is a wall mural of playful Meadowlark Dairy marketing and cows to take a pic of your soft serve with! Dairy products in refrigerators on left side as one enters. No drive thru. No inside dining. Lots of parking in lot. Although all the outdoor seating was occupied when we entered, there was plenty of seating available once we had gotten our order. Between the two of us, we shared a small cup of their orange vanilla swirl. For the price, you really get a lot for your money. I've seen ice cream places elsewhere in the Bay Area charging double for their small size. After my first bite, I was immediately reminded of my childhood of eating grocery store creamsicle bars. The soft serve here was super rich and had the perfect creamy consistency to it. The orange flavor was very pronounced and didn't have an artificial taste to it. I finally made it to the Meadowlark location in Livermore after being a regular at the original Pleasanton spot for so long. I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the interior is, and the inclusion of a cute convenience store with two gender-neutral bathrooms is a great touch. You can grab $6 pints, clothing merch, and even frozen dinners while you're there. You are greeted with a smile by the staff. Went on a Thursday afternoon and the worker told us we came after a big rush. There was no wait/line! I am used to frequenting the Pleasanton drive-thru location, so I felt very odd walking...into...Meadowlark? The entire left wall is occupied by fridge space for dairy of all types, and some fridges were empty so I'm curious what they'll have. The entire right wall is reserved for a mural which I'm excited to see once finished! They also had merch available for purchase right before you reach the cashier. After ordering, you walk to the right back to the entrance/exit to grab your ice cream. Speedy service as usual! I was so full from lunch so I got a kid's size, even though it was the same price as a small ($3.50). They are famously generous for their portions, and I still stand by the kid size because I would not have been able to eat more lol. Newer location that still needs to work out its operations. Went on a Sunday afternoon and there were a ton of families and little kids in line and exactly one register open. The line naturally kept getting bigger because who doesn't love meadowlark. You get in one line to order and then in another long line to wait for your order. The ordering line bleeds into the waiting line because there's so many people and not enough room to stand. They eventually opened up a second ordering cashier. They carry refrigerated goods like cheeses and milk and some dry goods like pasta. Overall the prices are expensive and priced for convenience. The frozen section was still empty and they also haven't painted any indoor murals yet. This used to be a drive thru bank and I wonder if it's not possible to open the drive thru to relieve some of the foot traffic? Parking is pretty limited too on a busy day so you're better off street parking. The ice cream itself was tasty just like the original location! You can beat the price. It is a large facility and we came here one evening after a meeting. After frequenting the Pleasanton location for years, this one is quite different without the drive through. I love that you can see the groceries they have on hand and that is spacious enough not to be standing on top of each other while in there....seems awkward that you walk all the way in to order and the pick up counter is near the door....seems like it should be the other way around. Came here around 6:50 pm on a Tuesday with my girlfriend. Wasn't packed at all. The place is pretty big, and it is in its soft opening phase, there are fridges filled with milks, heavy whipping cream, etc., to buy as well if you need it, which I thought was pretty cool, there are other stuff to buy besides ice cream. There are freezers coming for frozen items to sell which I can't wait to see what they put. But, for the ice cream I got strawberry, such a good flavor it was tart and it was very good. I also got chocolate on top of the strawberry which made it like a chocolate covered strawberry and it was so good it's one of my favorites. My girlfriend got the mix of orange and vanilla, it tasted like a creamsicle, and it's not my favorite but it was really good it tasted fresh and not artificial. Absolutely. Meadowlark couldn't have found a better location in Livermore. The history, the brick- beautiful! Beyond ecstatic that there is an indoor ordering area and we no long have to wait outside in the scorching heat (for the most part). I do anticipate this place to be poppin with lines wrapped around the corner in the soon to be months just like Pleasanton! Ordering is really simple tho: walk in through the double doors, order straight ahead, and then they'll call your name out on the right hand corner. It's as easy as that. They also have a row of fridges located on the left hand side which will be filled with goodies soon! They're currently going through their soft opening phase with plenty of potential of filling up the shop! There's little placards placed on the walls with what their vision entails and I can't wait to see it come to life. The flavors are consistent with the Pleasanton location, but they aren't doing seasonal ones at the moment. Finally another location has opened up as a reprieve from the endless long lines in Pleasanton. Located a block away from the main street of Livermore downtown, this Meadowlark Dairy is in a renovated bank building. It is very spacious with tall ceilings inside, which is surprising that there are no interior dining spaces as the only dining available is outdoors with no covered patio. I am not sure how this will be during the hot summer months. Instead, they made room for refrigerated food and a limited amount of non-perishables as part of their grocery offerings. When I asked the staff member during one of my recent visits she indicated that people actually do buy groceries from their store. Lines typically move pretty swiftly as they do in their original location. What sets the Livermore location apart from Pleasanton that I have come to find and which keeps me coming back, is that their ice cream texture and flavors for superior. I find that the temperature of the ice cream is slightly lower which leaves a softer texture, not as ice cold hard and also has a better taste. Additionally, they consistently have a better presentation of the ice cream swirls atop my cone. The only minor complaint I have about the Livermore location is that they close one hour earlier than Pleasanton. I just sometimes can't get out to get my treat after dinner with the earlier closure. Perhaps this might change in the future. Some might note that this location loses its charm without the drive-through and walk up experiences. I did hear though that the drive-thru will be coming sometime in the future once they work out the traffic flow with the city of Livermore. So that will be something for others to look forward to hopefully sooner than later! read more
