The drive up and go at this Safeway is terrible. Items are always out of stock they never offer a substitution for the out of stock items. I've had issues with the past 2 orders I have placed. On my order from 6/5 I received molded tomatoes and popsicles that looked as if they had been left out of the freezer all day and put BACK in the freezer. My order from today 6/9 I ordered steaks and the steaks I received are already grey, And of course an out of stock item. Something that is supposed to be convenient has became such an inconvenience because now I have to go back out to the store to return. Save your time and money. Shop somewhere else. read more

The employees here are the star of the show! Every person I've encountered has been so pleasant, positive, and friendly! Especially those at check out. The store is clean, well stocked and open late late. And the points translate can be used for gas discounts. (The safeway gas station across town now seems to be offering an additional discount if you pay in cash) However, the prices here tend to be much higher than at other grocery stores. read more

The checker, Fabiola, tries to get me to go to another check stand, she was just finishing a customer and the belt was empty. Why would I go elsewhere? The prior customer had two paper bags she slid to the end and wouldn't even place them in the customers cart. She seemed plain unpleasant, I guess scanning items is too challenging. Great assortment of food and wine but the reason I'm posting was to review the whole grocery web order and pickup process. In short, it's awesome! Super easy to shop and put in the cart. Proximity shopping (note you really need the Safeway app to expedite the process - I had it!) code comes up in the app that you provide the pickup mgr at the front of the pickup area. This Safeway has all the pickup orders behind doors (vs midtown on open shelves) so the area looks more secure. I loved it. I wouldn't use it for all my shopping but if I'm going after specific items quickly, it's built for that! read more

We ordered our wedding cake at Safeway (12 inch square, 3 tier)- bottom layer vanilla, middle layer red velvet, top layer marble. It was finished with an elegant dotted icing and peonies. It was lovely. But apparently it tasted amazing as well. The red velvet layer was COMPLETELY gone at the wedding- and the white layer almost gone! There were plenty of other desserts, but people just loved the cake. So I highly recommend their cakes- and for under 500 dollars, I was very pleased with the price. read more

Usually Safeway Deli isn't bad. But on this day in particular they just weren't on point. It was Tuesday the 29th. The usual deli man was making a sandwich and there was a deli lady slicing meats and a runner in the back stacking supplies. They were all busy I'm sure, but they were all oblivious. I don't fault the deli man, he was already with a customer, the runner in the back, but his job isn't to help customers. He'd occasionally stop his task to look at you, but being as English isn't his first language, he couldn't be of help. What he could have done was get the attention of the other lady in deli. As for the deli lady, I know she was busy with the meats, but her job is customer service. She needed to be aware, otherwise her slicing deli meats is for not. I don't know if they were short staffed or what, but their staff needs to be more aware, just like cops or teachers. Having customers waiting around isn't very productive read more

Making dinner tonight for a family of 12. It's about 1100 so I say, I'll try the Safeway app, then I can order from the warmth of my house and just have it placed in my trunk, sounds great. Placed my order, the earliest pickup window is 3 hours from now, cool, that will work I can get food before I pick up the kids from school. Wait, does that say ready between 2 and 8pm? Um, that's a huge range, if it's ready at 2 then I get it without the kids, if it's ready at 8 then we had to come up with something else to eat. Okay, I'll cancel the order.....well, after 15 minutes on hold I was in my truck driving to Safeway to "calmly" express myself. Luck for them I got a person, they cancelled my order and I went to Albertsons. Fuck you very much Safeway. This location has the easiest experience for curb side pick up. It's never crowded and it's convenient if you have a kid or baby, then you don't have to get them out of the car seat. I placed a order in the same day and it was ready in 2 hours, which is fast compared to other delivery or curb side. They picked nice quality items but they couldn't fulfill my entire order, but came close. read more

A crab delivered last order was tasteless & dry, probably from frozen from last year! Obviously old! One bok choy for $.98. There is no one to communicate with by phone unless your a member for $ 99. A year. I am unable to do that and beside it's a stinky way to fo business with us old folks captured in our homes. We depend on decent fresh food for our survival. My husband's favorite store to shop! I actually love Safeway too for all of it's varieties of groceries. Meats and Seafoods are fresh and great quality. My favorite section is The Floral Dept! Always beautiful! There's always a variety of prepared vased florals available as well as singular flowers and plants to choose even for last minute gifting. The cashiers that We have encountered are very helpful professionals that keep their lines moving with ease. We thank them as well as the floor staff. The only problem I have is The Parking Lot Design. The Limited Ability/ Disabled have few convenient spaces to park. I'm on a cane / walker right now. So I can't shop unless it's very early in the morning. read more

I have been going to this location for awhile now. They always have inventory of what I want every time I've been here. Occasionally the check-out lines are really long or they don't have some in service, but I generally go during the busiest time so can't fault that. Employees have always been nice to me and haven't had any bad experiences. Place always seems clean to me as well. Just went in today around 9am to grab couple of things. First I went to get garlic but there was a guy stocking onions and his cart was blocking the aisle. So I went around and I said excuse me. Horrible !!! I was having a coughing attack to where I asked for a cup of WATER. The gentlmam Mustafa who was working the self check out 4/21/24 8:30pm refused to go behind the Starbucks counter to get me a cup of water so I went and tried to purchase a water then at self check so I could continue shopping , he then rudely shouts at me telling me to go 6ft!! Hellooooo Covid is over ! If you see someone having a medical coughing issue, help them don't ignore them. I will be calling corporate tomorrow. The gentleman's name is Mustafa. Omg the bakery Manager and Rebecca were awesome! I was looking for a specific cake for my Royal 40th Bday and let me tell you, they delivered. They went above and beyond for me. I do not like fondant but the cake I wanted needed fondant or so I thought. Rebecca took the pic, showed to hers Manager and got back to me on the final deets. They managed to make my cake and it looked elegant and she put her personal spin on it and gave me a lemon buttercream filling. Let's just say delicious the cake was a hit! Thank you Rebecca and the bakery manager for making my bday extra special and yummy. I will definitely be back. Even their pre-made cakes that they have on display to buy are amazingly good. For only my past Drive up and Go experience I'd give 5 stars. My review is mainly for Drive up and Go.. Due to my own health issues even before the pandemic, I've been to this store for both drive up and go, and on occasion for a few items inside. Drive up and Go before the pandemic, never an issue and loved that you could add or delete from your order up until almost pick up time. I totally get why that doesn't work now and so appreciate the fact Safeway hired more people. Now, pandemic times.. I have NOT been inside any store since March 5th, 2020...We did great with Safeway until everyone else caught on and it was 10+ days to schedule pick ups... we switched to Nob Hill (they have apple fritters my mom loves and Safeway has never had). I went between both stores. Nob Hill did a better job filling substitutions.. and actually still does.. Safeway doesn't give the option for substitute any brand and any size.. you have to pick same brand different size or different brand same size or something.. ugh.. it's super frustrating so from March - May my pick was Nob Hill.. I got everything I needed but more $.. Safeway, if I needed Paprika I didn't get it because the size or brand etc wasn't an option yet I knew neighbors that went in and Paprika was plentiful so I paid someone else to go get it from the NextDoor app.. Safeway has now hired and pick up slots are plentiful with a friendly voice on the other end. While I've been frustrated in the past, I want to say my last 3 drive up and go orders have been (almost) flawless. I order every 10-12 days. A previous order included wine but pulling out of the back of my truck I did not know bottles were single bagged. I pulled them from the back of the truck and the bag broke and spattered over my white truck, the driveway and me.. after cleaning up I was barefoot and then cut my foot by stepping on glass.... My last order, I mentioned at drive up and go to the manager (who delivered our order) what happened and he said Safeway will replace the wine.. I'd give Robert Acorn (manager) five stars due to service when the Safeway system went down again (last time our order was lost and waited 3 days for the reorder).. he hand wrote orders so they wouldn't get lost (like previous time) and that took much time and consideration on his part. I wanted to keep the rating high for this particular Safeway store for this manager in particular. He's gone out of his way to make sure customers are taken care of and even broken wine will be replaced. His kindness and personality will resonate beyond my Safeway shopping experience. The only reason this store doesn't have my 5 star rating is past experiences. I hope Safeway recognizes Robert's sincere desire and ability to keep a customer... Thank you!! read more

I've been shopping at this specific store for almost 13 years and I have never experienced such care and kindness from the employees and managers. Yesterday afternoon, while I was shopping with my 3 kids, my oldest (who is 13 and happens to have autism) gets upset and has a meltdown in the store. This was unexpected and surprising as he's never behaved this way while grocery shopping before. He managed to knock down some groceries and was in the process of throwing items when some of the staff jumped in to help. One employee held my crying baby, while another attended to my middle child and helped me check out (I was in the self check out register). Then, they proceeded to walk out to the parking lot with me to my vehicle and help me get settled. Rosalba (the cheese specialist) in particular went above and beyond and stayed with me for quite a while to ensure that my son was calm and I was able to drive away safely. I am absolutely floored by the compassion that the employees (I believe some were possibly managers) showed me and my family at this Safeway location. It could've very easily gone the opposite direction but instead they took such good care of us and helped diffuse a potentially unsafe situation. In addition, I will be sharing my experience with their corporate office. Thank you all so much; your understanding and help is truly appreciated. read more

Fried chicken has gone down hill no flavor and just taste like a bad blend waste of your money . Idk if it's the fryer or mix but very poor tasting . No GOOD! Poke bowls are amazing here which is saving Grace other than the deli just isn't that good anymore . Sushi is great! The burritos are a last option with local Livermore taquerias like Consuelas and others Safeway Burritos don't even rate lol the sandwiches and wraps can't beat Togos or Subway and frankly if the Sushi bar wasn't there I'd probably stop going there for lunch . There were a couple of things with this bakery. First I called to order 24 cupcakes from my son's going away party. He is moving to New York so I asked for blue and yellow. His friends that were giving him the party had the colors of Burberry colors since he is going to work for Burberry when he goes there. I called back and decided to change it to a cake so that I could try to get as close to Burberry colors on the frosting as possible. I actually drew out what I wanted which was the cake light brown with red roses down one side, white roses down the other, and the words in black. The first thing that happened was I called back to cancel the cupcakes and the person that answered said there was no order for 24 cupcakes in blue and yellow. What??? Good thing I changed to a cake because we would have shown up on Sunday to them having NO ORDER! So, my sister brought the cake to the party. They did a pretty good job in getting the coloring. However, the writing looked like an 8th grader did it that had ok penmanship. What I had them write was "Stepping into your YES!" and I specified that the YES be capitalized with the !. Stepping was written really big and then they figured oops not enough room for into, so into is really small. "Your" kind of looks like your. However, yES! has a small Y and and capital ES. When I just called the Bakery Manager she said she saw the cake and they wrote it as they were given the paper. I told her I drew out the paper and I have instructions that are written on the paper that said Yes is to be capitalized. I am not sure if they followed where I had the placement of the words on my paper, but obviously, I am not a professional I just wrote out what I wanted the wording to say. It was up to them as professional cake decorators to say, "Stepping will probably be too long and maybe into your should go on the second time" If there was a question on that, call me and ask. When I told the Manager that the cake writing and placement just didn't look professional. I had told her I had used other Safeway bakeries and they looked at the cake and took into account the scale of the cake and wrote the wording accordingly, she told me that she didn't know about other Safeway bakeries and that maybe they had people there that were more experienced than the employees she has at their store. What? Now, I understand everyone has to start somewhere to get experience but when you are a cake decorator and customers are paying money for a cake that is for a special event a certain amount of experience needs to be in place. But also she is the bakery manager and she said she saw the cake before my sister picked it up but as a Manager and I would hope a more experienced decorator that when you looked at the cake she should have seen what I and a few others at the party saw. Even when looking at the cake there needed to be one more white rose in the corner to balance it instead of a hole in the corner, there isn't a hole on the red roses, so to balance it out there should be another white rose to cover the whole. I didn't even say anything about that because she was making excuses about the writing so...and the white rose wasn't a big deal. I actually didn't notice until I was looking at the pictures after the party but definitely the writing I picked up as soon as I saw the cake. I think I was just blown away that the Manager was so nonchalant saying, "well other stores may have more experienced decorators than we do" I guess there is no way to put a picture with this review.
