I had a very bad experience @ SW yesterday so I'm going to chime in. I finished shopping and went to my car with the groceries. I looked at the receipt and noticed I'd been charged 17.98 for two 7oz salmon pieces that were on sale for 5.99 ea. Should have been 11.98 total. So i went back in to the other side of the store and checked. I realized it was on a digital coupon, so I clipped it on my phone and went up front and told the lady at CS. I admitted my mistake and showed her my receipt. She said No, I must be wrong and asked me to go out and get the salmon. So I did. I came back and showed her and she still said No. So I said let's go back to the other side of the store and look. She said No, it must be one of these frozen bags that were marked down to 5.99. We put the fresh salmon I had purchased away and clearly there was signage there that indicated a digital coupon deal mark down from 8.99 to 5.99 but she still insisted it didn't exist. I had to get my 17.98 refunded and go to TJs for salmon. Turned out the frozen pin wheel salmon with feta and spinach were much better anyway. I'm going to stick with TJs. I wouldn't pay full price for anything @ SW so I always have to go back and haggle one or another deal. read more

Terrible customer service I decided to come here on my lunch for a sandwich at the Deli. When I got to the deli there were 2 workers visible one lady making salads and the other working the hot food area. I waited and waited it took 10 mins for anyone to even acknowledge me. The lady making sales to put out said someone would be with me which never happened instead she kept doing that & the other lady continued to take new customers who came after me but no one ever helped me . Not to mention I'm 9 months pregnant. Worst service. Will not be returning I'll just continue to go to Luckys. read more

This Safeway I feel needs to step up their security. I read through some of the other yelp reviews and others have noted it as well. I went to use their bathroom and there were people in there doing drugs. It was quite scary. The parking lot is also dirty at times and people loitering around. Yes, I recommend Safeway. Here's why. I've had to be very price conscious this past year, while not being too silly. Safeway, through their app, has been very helpful. True story: I was standing in a checkout line, and an older lady noted the display of Oreos, and the lower price if you're a member and clip their electronic coupon. She said that there was no way she would sign up for any service that had information about her. Then she complained about her social security check for the next five minutes. Good grief. I don't give a d*@n about what a supermarket chain knows about my shopping habits. Every week, I go through their app, and clip their electronic coupons, and save a lot. Things ALWAYS on sale, below Target prices and comparable to Walmart: milk, cheese, cereal, yogurt, Smirnoff vodka. Their Smirnoff 1.75 liter price even beats Total Wine. I typically have 30% savings on my trip. We get free stuff with points all the time, and discounts off their gas stations in East Livermore and Dublin. This particular location also has a great discount rack including baked goods and wine. And the wine isn't crap, it's usually rated 90 points or higher on tasting websites. The other Safeway location in Livermore is bigger and cleaner, but the produce there isn't as nice as it is at 1554 First Street. I know that Safeway is being sued for incorrect price charging, but honestly I haven't encountered that. And I would notice. Livermore Target is TERRIBLE about that; see my review. read more

I ordered a 100th birthday cake 4 days ahead of time. I sketched out on an index card what I wanted it to look like and they stapled it to my order, I asked that they leave just enough space for the three candles (100) I'm afraid they missed the mark when it came to the font size & design on top of the cake as they made it too small. The employees here are so aggressive with their "customer surveys." At self check Christy literally shoved her boobs into my husband's back to reach over his shoulder from behind and give our review of Safeway a 10 for customer service and cleanliness. She had done the same to me over the months and I would repeatedly ask her to stop. The last time when she sexually harassed my husband I got upset with her. She left self check and went to loudly complain about us to her co worker that was working another lane. Today this happened again but with another employee named Guadalupe. I told her not to fill out my survey and she kept saying it's ok no problem. These employees are aggressive, dishonest, disrespectful and sexually harassing their customers. This needs to be put to an end by management or maybe we need to take it to the police next time. This is uncalled for. read more

Whether it be answering the phone, messing up the to-go orders, app being incorrect, and some employees just being rude. However, tonight I had a great experience doing the to-go orders. Came in at 7am for a breakfast burrito in the deli, nothing crazy. When I stood there for 10 mins waiting to get helped while the workers talked to eachother and did other tasks. Then finally I'm helped and then nothing is ready or prepared the oven still needs to warm up the sandwich counter was not ready to be used. Very frustrating to wait 10 mins with everyone ignoring you then told I have to wait another 10mins for the oven and everything to be ready due to them not being ready in the morning and talking. Not my favorite Safeway. I don't like the parking lot and I don't think the selection of items large enough- they never seem to have what I want. I normally shop at the larger, newer Safeway, but went to this one yesterday because it was close. They didn't have 3 things on my shopping list (which only had 18 items on it to begin with.) I'm glad we have two Safeways and I'm sure it's challenging managing the two stores- but I've been disappointed just about every time I come to this one. But if you are looking for something you buy every day, and it's not on sale or a specialty item, you will probably be fine. read more

This review is for Nick in the Meat Department! We wanted to make salsa verde and asked him if the pork chops would break down to shred if we kept it on low in a crock pot. We were hoping he would say yes because they were on sale. Nick told us that he uses country style ribs and just bright some out. He picked the best 6 and packaged it new for us. Not exactly cheaper then the chops but way better in quality and we were successful in making our shredded pork salsa verde. It's Super Bowl Sunday and it's busy in the meat department too. Everyone behind the counter was super friendly and I was impressed that Nick came behind the counter to meet us where we were standing to hand us our package. I want SHACALA at Store #910 ,1554 First Street, to be commended for exceptional customer service.She took care of my Ballon order. I had gone to the OTHER SAFEWAY at 4495 First Street, in town and I was completely IGNORED for 20+ minutes while 4 Floral desk employees ignored me and spoke amongst themselves. I was at the Register waiting to order my balloons and I finally left and went to the other Safeway in town. I went to STORE 910 where SHACALA SAVED THE DAY! I told her I appreciated her customer service and how I was going to write into SAFEWAY to let them know how valuable she is as an employee. Also I found it ODD that the 1st Safeway, at 4495 First Street Had WAY HIGHER PRICING on items in the floral department compared to the Safeway at 910 First Street where SHACALA saved the day. I even asked Shacala if the Floral departments are a separate company than Safeway because I could not believe the discrepancy between the two departments and how they are run. This Safeway is my primary grocery store (beating out Trader Joes, Grocery Outlet, and Nob Hill Foods which are all close by). The staff are kind (I've interacted with the folks at the seafood section the most). There's a RedBox here and I like to use that. For the most part this store is pretty normal. The reason my rating is lower is because it seems they could step up the security of their parking lot. I have consistently dealt with weirdos out there and it actually reduces the motivation I have to go grocery shopping. Not sure if this is a Safeway issue or a Livermore PD issue but that parking lot seems to be a magnet for some anti social behavior. Perhaps I've just been unlucky. not so friendly cashier. an older lady i believe her name was trisina or something like that was talking up the customer before me and she seemed very friendly towards her. When it was my turn, i had said hi to her...nothing back, not even a smile. I only had about 5 items and she asked if i needed a bag. NAKITA gave my $150 drive-up order to the wrong person and then took zero accountability for said actions. Told me to take it up with the "IT department." Spent 45 minutes arguing with me instead of replacing my order or giving me a refund. Whether it was her error or the system's error, she still gave my paid order to someone else and refused to make things right. NAKITA and CHRISTY MALDONADO have no business working in customer service, and no business talking to others the way they do. I will take my complaint about these 2 women across every social media platform possible, so that others can be warned of the humiliation they made me feel as a long-time paying customer of Safeway. Service was terrible. There was a coupon for $3 off cereal in the aisle and when we tried to scan it would not work within the app like it said it would. When we asked the cashier for help he said there was nothing he could do, and I then proceeded to ask for other help to figure out the coupon. While I tend to visit mainly in the mornings usually, I have stopped by during the afternoon and evenings once in awhile and I know it's like night and day when it gets busy. The parking lot can be a mess when this place is packed. The employees are usually fairly friendly and courteous overall and this place is slightly better stocked than some of the small safeways stores I've visited. read more

I was at Safeway last night to pick up a few things from there. I was getting ready to check out at the store and they had there self checkout all ready closed for the night. So I had to get into a regular line for check out and they only had two checkers that were working and no baggers bagging the groceries for the people. And the two lines were the only two checkers had open the line was getting longer as people were waiting in line to get checked out. As I was leaving the store I was telling people that there is a long line for check out. And there like oh thank you. Safeway needs to have more checkers during the day time night time and leave self check out open longer. I'm very disappointed in the Safeway by ACE hardware store. Beware!!!! CHECK EXPIRATION DATES!!!! I spent about $200 on groceries here a couple weeks ago and didn't realize until I got home that multiple items were expired! What a hassle! One of the items I purchased was a green drink energy shot which expired in AUGUST 2018.. IT IS MARCH 2019 now. That's disgusting.
