Decided to try this place for breakfast on the way to an expo, and was pleasantly surprised. The wait was a bit long but there was a large group ahead of us so that was to be expected. I ordered a golden tuna and a house special chicken, both were delicious though the chicken was a bit one-note salty. The tuna was really flavorful though. I'll definitely be back again whenever I'm in the area, next time I'll try the cumin lamb! read more

I was looking for something small to munch on to carry me over till dinner. I walked by this place quite often,l and decided to finally give it a try. I ordered the Lamb crepe and it was loaded with so much flavor. The price is fair for the size pf the crepe and it was surprisingly filling. Came to check out this place because of the reviews. Unfortunately, very underwhelming. One lady at the counter who was friendly, but it stopped there. No one was inside, but she took a very long time to prepare our food( 2 crepes, 1 bento box, 1 pork biscuit) - 20 minutes. In the end, after we recieved our crepes, we had to remind her we were still waiting on the bento box. She said she forgot and would start right away. The only fresh thing was the Crêpe, which was cold, by the time it was served. (probabl because of how long it took her). I watched as she microwaved the meats. For 15$, I do not expect microwaved food wrapped in a Bing. Pork biscuit, pork flavor was fine, but the biscuit was hard, stale, not fresh. I definitely would not come here again. It's a small little shop that's very cosy. We came at lunch time when they are not too busy. Wait staff is very friendly and was very helpful knowing it's our first time there. I had the Peking duck crepe with mild sauce and donut. The crepe came out streaming hot and pretty big portions. The suace has just the right kick with the mild order. Meat is tender and flavorful. So good! This place serves great JianBing and is a Chinese restaurant despite the semi-misleading name. It is a pretty popular cafe with locations worldwide. Mediocre yet utterly expensive food. But worst of all is the service. Being a fast-food place with basically no additional service of any kind, the receipt asks for a minimum of 18% service fee BEFORE U GET YOUR FOOD. After giving a custom of about 12% tip, i got the WORST attitude I've ever received here in US. The owner basically threw my food on the table, with the filling of the crepe on the table, and then took the tray away when he's supposed to leave it. First time here and the service is really friendly! Tiffany is great! Local spot with a couple of tables and menu is straightforward. We had the Peking duck with egg and lettuce, HK bbq duck, tea eggs, and soybean milk. Tea egg and soybean milk were both good! Haven't found a place in SGV that has good tea eggs around. Both crepes were delicious! The crispy chips inside really added a nice crunch and the spicy sauce inside was good. Both ducks were flavorful. Price was worth it because portions were big! This spot is great for authentic Chinese Jian Bing which are savory crepes found at street markets in China. The Peking Duck Crepe is the best! The crepe is more eggy and savory than traditional crepes, it's filled with lots of Peking duck meat, has crispy wonton chips and cucumbers for crunch, and savory Peking duck sauce inside. It's kind of a wait for your order to come out (like 20-25 min) because they make each crepe fresh and it's a small shop so there's only a couple stovetops. These are very filling but SO GOOD! I've read some other reviews and people are referring to it as a specific Chinese treat, Jian Bing, usually associated as street food. I could imagine a truck serving these eggy crepe wrap 'sandwiches' and so, yeah, street foodie. So it's not really fancy as much as it is definitely something different for most of us. I had the cumin lamb with mild spicing and I must first say their 'mild' is 'medium-high' for most Americans. But I didn't really care because it was actually delicious for what it was. I'm happy the owner nudged me (intentionally or accidentally) up a notch. I'm seeing complaints about prices. Well it's Old Town, isn't it? But I understand that street food should be a little cheaper somehow. I believe the owner should make as many of her offerings as possible $10. If I were her (considering how vegetarian things are becoming) I'd also offer a cooked tofu (extra firm) and veggie wrap. The only thing I'd fix about this place is marketing. The name of the place, the menus posted in the window, the interior -- they kind of just don't work. You're left scratching your head and wondering. If this place moved to that new alley of tiny eateries on the other side of the square it would make a lot more sense and do even better business. So think of it as a nice lady with a food truck called ASIAN CREPES. And that you can take away this deliciousness in a little bag and eat it anywhere. Awesome cozy place with interesting Asian fusion cuisine and friendly staff. We arrived at 6:30pm and didn't realize they close at 7pm. Only at 8:30pm did we realize on our own that they've already been closed for 90mins. He never made any indications that the store was closed and simply just gave us a lot of space. You know Panda Inn ain't authentic, and you even know PF Chang's ain't either... hell, maybe you're still having withdrawals from not abstaining from broccoli beef for the entirety of the last year, (though you drippin'-drool every time you see some green and brown poking through in the trash can at Panda)... Yeah, "authentic" ain't enough for you!... Let's talk LEGIT. LEGIT AS F. If you've ever found yourself in the dingiest of the Chinese strip-mall mad houses, where everyone's talking ain't-no-english, and even the menu is just a blur of exotic alien markings, ... you MAY have seen what is called here a "Chinese crepe." Yes, that rare oddity might as well be next-most-legit Chinese item I've ever seen in America, second only to "stinky tofu" (God save you if you enjoy THAT.) Well, I have had the pleasure to have tried a few--STRIKE THAT... NOT pleasurable... they're all TERRIBLE. Disgusting messes of raunchy fermenting raunchiness only pigs could enjoy. Then came... ME+Crepe... They dared. Praise The Lord. Could this be the God-sent miracle all the real Chinese in America have been dreaming of?... 1. Vegetarian Savoury Chinese Style Crepe $9.95 "egg, greens, Chinese donut or Chinese chip": So first off, my gf mistakenly thought this was the traditional crepe burrito thingy (compared to their other choices which were obviously not traditional). It's not as it's been "modernized" to have lettuce, tomatoes and other American veggies. Anyway, perhaps you can ask them to remove that stuff and you'll get pretty close to the real thing. How was it? Honestly, better than ANY I've had in America, maybe out of a dozen or so? For one, most other places use a fermented paste as sauce that's VERY strong and just totally takes over the taste, rendering your food inedible. Just can't eat it. My gf says that sauce is NOT authentic either--it should be a sauce similar to Hoisin sauce, like the kind they serve with Peking duck--well, perhaps somewhere in between the two, but closer to Hoisin. Alright, yes, it's a low bar to say this place is best simply because it's the first edible version I've had.... but hey, it's the truth right? Another thing to note: yeah my gf approved, but she did note that the crispy wonton skin they use as texture, that is folded in, is a bit different than the traditional crunchy filling. The real super-legit one is not really wonton skin, but some kind of bubbly chip that's pretty similar, but to be 100% legit it needs to be flaky and fluffy, yet crisp with super airy holes. OH, and I almost forgot, she said the sauce they use, a red pepper hot sauce, is NOT authentic at all. It's the wrong sauce. But at least it's not as offensive as that fermented bean crap others use. Anyway, this was the best I've ever had here, so for that: 8/10 2. New Beef Savoury Chinese Style Crepe $8.95 "special made beef with cheese": Similar to #1, except that they fill it with Yoshinoya-style beef and CHEESE. Sounds crazy? It WORKS. I LOVED IT. Now, they definitely over did that red sauce I talked about. So, if I ever get a chance to order this again, I'd ask them to use 1/10th as much sauce. But otherwise, YUMMY AS F. 9/10 3. Spicy Tofu $5.75: From Northern China. The particular taste and aroma (stinkiness) comes from the preserved vegetables maybe? So, it's soft tofu in a traditional fermented-tasting soup. Strangely, my gf couldn't ID the soup, but I'd say it's rather close to River Snail Noodle Soup. Definitely only real Chinese would enjoy this--so yeah, if you wanna impress, this would do. 8/10 4. I was looking forward to this crepe place for a long time, but always a little scared that the taste is not gonna be as same as my favorite crepe in my childhood memory. Ordering: The savory Chinese style crepe category is like Chef's Special. They are the chef's own twist to the original Bing/crepe. Choose you own crepe category is what you would do at an authentic Chinese street food place. The ingredients varies from different places. In my childhood, I always love adding sausages to the crepe. That's why I got Original Bing with sausage, egg(extra egg make the crepe even softer), chips ( I like donut but not in my crepe), and spicy sauce (medium spicy). My husband hasn't tried crepe before. He got cumin lamb crepe. He always love cumin lamb. Also, I ordered Tofu (salty kind) and cold sweet soybean milk. We were told that it is going to be 10-20mins, and we realized that there were some to-go orders before us. It is understandable since they have two crepe stations. Taste: Original Bing with sausage, egg(extra egg make the crepe even softer), chips ( I like donut but not in my crepe), and spicy sauce (medium spicy), it tastes like an upgraded version of my favorite crepe from childhood! Better sausages, thinner/crisper chip and extra egg made the crepe taste so soft! Order it like me if you want to know what the authentic Chinese street food taste like! I literally grew up on this! When we were just there at lunch time today, the air inside was very fresh. Some one also judged the fact their chips and donuts are pre-made. This is how it is in China as well. They are made in the morning daily, but not made as you take each order. You cannot make tortilla chips freshly in a Mexican restaurant for each order, can you? Also, I would not dare to judge authenticity of any food if I have not tried (in its native country) or grown up eating it. Since first eating jianbing in China over a year ago I have been craving it ever since. I only found out about this place a few months ago, and man have I been procrastinating. Why did I wait so long?!? But the wait was worth it. I ordered the BBQ pork medium spicy and a warm soy milk to make it the closest thing to what I had in China. My bf ordered the combo A, the cumin lamb crepe, tea egg and soy milk. The soy milk was kid temp! Which is perfect for my mouth that can't handle scalding hot beverages. The BBQ Pork Crepe was a perfect combination of sweet, salty, and savory. Light yet heavy. The medium spicy was perfect for this crepe, it has Sichuan pepper which left my mouth pleasantly tingly. The crispy wonton is always a pleasant surprise! I did wish it had cucumbers and lettuce in it since I felt it was lacking greens. You can add extras, but at a hefty price tag. $1.50 for cucumber seems a bit much to me. The crepe shape is a bit hard to eat and very messy. Not neatly wrapped into a square which makes it more sandwich-bite-able without the condiments falling out everywhere. But once you get your hands messy, you can't put it down anyways! The cumin lamb was very flavorful and delicious. So flavorful I couldn't taste the medium spice, so if you like it spicy, I would recommend getting higher than medium on this one! The tea egg was a nice side, not too salty. Overall, I highly recommend this place! Chinese breakfast crepes, quite cheap in China but ~$10 in Pasadena. Authentic taste though. We selected the Fricassee Rib crepe, good quality pork rib but needed a bit more of the soybean sauce. Also got the Cumin Lamb Crêpe (a regular menu item), very aromatic and tasted good too, was the best crepe of the group. Peking duck Crêpe was also generally good, could use bit more of the soybean paste, not really worth the higher price though. One has the option of a chip (crunchy wafer) or a donut (fried dough cylinder) as filling inside, i prefer the chip. Service good and fast, only sticking point is the price. You could keep the same number and swap USD for RMB and that would be a reasonable price in tier 1 cities in China. read more

Tried out this crepe place since my friend recommended it. Nice and small shop around the corner! Loved the decor it's a nice quaint place that lights up in the late afternoon. Tried the bbq pork and duck crepe as an afternoon snack. It was really good and surprisingly more than I expected to have for a late afternoon snack! Duck was nice and crispy and the pork was tasty as well. Seasoning and taste was fantastic. Only downside I would say is that it was a bit oily near the bottom, but I think that was because of my choice of meat for the crepe. I haven't been to any others before, and I was excited to eat jianbing, which is like a folded egg crepe Chinese cousin to a breakfast burrito. I ate them in Guangzhou, China during business trips. Usually it was street food sold off the back of a bicycle or a small cart... awesome way to start the day. I loved the simple one with egg, sauce, crunchy bits, luncheon meat. Came to Me+Crepe on Wednesday morning with my husband. There was no line at all, but the restaurant was almost packed around 9:45am. It seems like this restaurant just opened a couple of days ago with lots of grand opening flowers and decorations. Although it doesn't have a spacious space, we felt very warm and clean when we walked in. Crepe is called Jianbing in Chinese. It is one of the most traditional and popular street food in China. There were different options for us to choose on the menu, we got one BBQ Pork and one Souryuu Crepes, they were served fast and very tasty. At begging my husband felt it was a little pricy compared with in Beijing. 2 crepes+ 1 tofu soup+we tipped well for grand opening= $30. I told him we should be grateful for the owner who is trying to introduce Chinese culture and food to Americans and those global tourists who came to Pasadena. California has minimum wage $14/hour, plus the high rental. When you had $6 oolong tea at our neighbor Intelligentsia coffee have you ever questioned with $6 how much loose tea you may get from China? Finally my husband agreed that we should never compare the quality and price at here with the greasy street food in China. If you miss the traditional ethnic Chinese crepe, you should not miss Me+ Crepe. If you are expecting $1 crepe, please get a flight ticket and enjoy it in Beijing.
