You can also rent a pavilion here for parties or gatherings (affordable!), and it includes electricity, covered picnic tables, and close bathroom access. Speaking of bathrooms, and I know park bathrooms can be scary, these ones really are pretty clean! Parr Park is big and clean and lush and green. It's connected to the Bear Creek trails, so there really is a lot of nature to explore. There are almost always people around so it's never too quiet, but it's still big and forest-y enough that you could feel a little bit lost in the wild, if you wanted to (I do).

They also put in some emergency calling stations (pictured) which isn't a bad idea for any trail, although I'm not sure how useful they are. During the day there are always lots of people on the trails and at night there's no lighting, so it would be unwise to walk there anyway. In any case, we were pretty excited to learn about the new bathrooms, as that was one of the main drawbacks to the Nature Center before. The area is basically a group of small ponds and creeks with trails surrounding them - some paved, some dirt. Much of the trail is shaded, which makes it a great place to go walking any time of year. There are birds, ducks, and turtles - we once saw a VERY large turtle swimming in the creek here... maybe the biggest turtle I've ever seen. Many people come here to fish in the ponds as well. The trail is stroller and bike friendly. There is a small, underwhelming playground at the parking lot, but we never spend any time there... too much nature to enjoy along the creek, ponds, and trails. My kids love coming here, and we're thankful for the opportunity to get out and exercise in such a beautiful spot.

Terrible gym. Incompetent and rude staff. First time I've been kicked off a machine in 30 years of…read moreworking out in gyms across the world...literally while in the middle of my set by an employee unracking my weights and telling me to get off cause they are moving the exact machine I was currently using,.. I only had two sets left, mind you, and my sweater was on machine, I was getting ready to sit in it and use it, and the employee starts unracking my weights. I said "excuse me, I am using this and he said well we are moving it"! Never ever would this happen at 24 hour fitness or any other commercial big or small private gym. They know how to put their patrons first at those other places. IF he actually was taught to put members first, he would've let me finish the extra three minutes it would have taken me to complete my sets... never going back here. Or they could've put a sign to not use machine, like all other gyms in the world do. I have been a personal trainer all my life and never have I witnessed anything like what happened to me here today. If you're serious about your workouts and your time in the gym, don't bother with this incompetent staff that doesn't know how to put paying members first. What I experienced today is like eating at a restaurant and while you're in the middle of taking a bite of your half eaten burger, the waiter comes to your table and grabs your plate with your fries from underneath you. Who does that? LOL. But that is not the worst of it.. after the manager talks to me, the rude employee that kicked me off my machine (older man) comes over to where I am and rolls his eyes and tells me "get over it"!!! I've never been spoken to so poorly by a grown man. Shame on him for speaking to a lady that way. Zero respect, zero common sense, zero gym etiquette or know how. These people are running a joke of an establishment and their employees know nothing about serious training or why people actually go to the gym and yet they work at a gym.
