New to PA and had to find a place for my safety and emissions inspection. I called another business first, but they couldn't get me in for two weeks. I called McKnight Auto and they told me they were "first come, first served", but were already full that particular day. I went in early the next day and opted to drop my car off vs waiting since I had a ride and there were a few customers ahead of me. After receiving their call that my car was ready and passed all inspections, I went in to pick it up. They charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone the day before and we had a nice chat. Friendly staff and seem to run an honest and ethical business. My husband took his car there as well after the good experience I had. He was impressed as well. We'll be taking our cars to McKnight Auto going forward. read more

This place is an absolute safety hazard and you should stay away. I got my car inspected and when I left, a half a mile after leaving, my wheel fell off my car causing a lot of damage and danger to me because they didn't tighten the lug nuts and put the wheel back on right! This is the place for a little old lady to take the car without them taking advantage. I keep a credit card at a well known chain garage. I tell my Mom to take her car there in case of any issues and have them throw the bill onto my charge - this way I know she always has a place to go in case she has a low tire, weird sound, etc. She took the car into this chain garage earlier in the week for a headlight that was shorting out. All she asked was for the headlight to be fixed. They called the number on file (me) and proceeded to give over $2300.00 in repairs that were needed for safety and inspection (and tried to charge almost $10 to look the car over - which was never requested). Included in this estimate were 2 lower control arms, motor mount, 2 emergency brake cables, etc. Something sounded "off," so we took the car to McKnight Auto for a second opinion. McKnight Auto had every opportunity to just agree that the work needed done (I had provided the estimate form the chain garage). McKnight auto was ETHICAL!! He found only part of the work needed done (he also found something else that the chain garage missed that was important). The car did NOT need the 2 lower control arms - the bushings were intact and moved freely! I am definitely impressed. The mechanic knew that if he said it all needed done, we would have just gotten the work completed at their garage.. rather than take the opportunity to add cash to their till, they made the ETHICAL choice and told us that the car needed about $1k in work. Ethics is doing what is right when no one is looking. McKnight Auto fits this definition. This is the place where we can send our elderly parents with CONFIDENCE!!!!! read more

Note: they are formerly McKnight Texaco, but now across the street and down the road a little from where they were 5-10 years ago. These guys are the most honest I've ever encountered. They are almost TOO honest. Their sense of urgency is not like those trying to sell you unneeded services. I would recommend these guys to both my best friends and worst enemies so that they have enough business to stay put for a long time! There are things they cannot do, such as alignments. When they cannot do something, they will recommend that you go elsewhere to do it. They don't even say where to go, so there is no suspicion they are sending you to their cousins up the street. I always feel that I've been treated fairly at McKnight Auto Service. read more

They changed the tires on my car and a month later one went flat. I came in on a Saturday (they are open until 12:00 p.m.) and they turned me away at 11:30 saying that they are going home early because "they feel like it." Completely unprofessional. They turned away a customer of a car THEY fixed up with a completely flat tire. Do not recommend. Also location is awful took me forever to get to them. read more

They used to be across the street when McKnight Texaco was still around, they have now moved location but still the same mechanics. Great guys, fair prices, quality work. Not only dishonest, poor workmanship. Family members must have written the favorable reviews. Shoddy work and over priced repairs that were not properly performed are the order of the day for these guys. They did brake and other repairs on my vehicle and didn't repair the issue with the vehicle, and over charged. I will never take my car there again and would never recommend these guys to anybody. Had to take my car to a real mechanics to actually fix my car. I think these guys know how to do emission testing only! read more
