This is my favorite auto mechanic in our area. Michael is a super ethical and competent mechanic that has a nice way of telling you what needs repaired or serviced. They go out of their way to serve their customers. One time, they even had someone give me a lift home and picked me back up because the repair was going to take a long time and they didn't want me to have to sit there. Now that's service! I have an older car so I am always worried when I take it in for the annual inspection. Michael and his team never rip you off by making up repairs or anything even on an older car which I totally appreciate. They have done both major (replaced my AC system) and minor (old change, tire rotation and inspections) work for me and I could not recommend them any more. My only gripe is their driveway which sometimes gets deep ruts in it that's hard on our other car which sits low to the ground. They do try to keep up with it to make it smoother but it's difficult since it's just gravel. Minor gripe for such a great place. read more

Building a business off of loyalty, honesty, competency, and fair prices; that's what I think about this business. It's hard to find a good shop, right? We have all been there before when our "giant machines" have a problem, and many of us are lost as "non-experts" in the mechanical arena. No fear, Michael Johnson has you covered. I've been taking my families cars here for years. Every inspection, brake change, tire purchase, etc., comes here. And, they do a lot more than that - pretty much anything you need. (I've met some of their other clients in the lobby during my visits and this business does some incredibly extensive mechanical repairs on very expensive cars.) Part of my trust with them was solidified the time that they offered advice on a tire purchase. The tires didn't last long despite following guidelines, and, they went to bat for me to make sure I received a very strong credit for resolving the issue. They were more pissed than I; at the end of the day, I was simply unlucky and received a bad set - but, they made it 100% right. Look, this place is great. They won't perform work on your vehicle until they decide it is actually needed. They have saved me thousands of dollars by avoiding unnecessary repairs, but when the time comes where I need work done, there is no better place. If you don't believe me after this review, just google them and take a look at hundreds of top star reviews on other sites. I used to go to the same garage my family has used for years and was always treated poorly. I don't know if it was because I am a woman and they think I'm stupid when it comes to cars, which I might be, but still. There was very little customer service for a very loyal client. Then I started going to Michael Johnson's. Even though I usually go there when something bad is going on with my car, I always enjoy walking in the door because I know I'll be greeted by name and met with a smile. MJ and company are more than accomodating and stand by their work. I recently had one of my rear brakes seize up because of a faulty caliper that they installed not even a year ago - they were not only honest about it, but repaired the work for free! And replaced the other rear brake pad, again at no charge. Not only great mechanics, but friendly guys and the best customer service I think I've ever received. What more can you ask for? read more

We just moved to the area from out of state and were looking for an honest and reliable mechanic. Based on other reviews, we chose to try Michael Johnson's. First visit was for PA inspection/emissions for both of our vehicles. They were short handed that day and still managed to get both vehicles done in a reasonable amount of time. I can't say enough about Michael and the incredible team and business he's built. My husband and I have used Michael Johnson's for years...literally since he's been in business (10-15 years?). He's fairly priced, overflowing with integrity, family friendly, treats his employees really well, has always made every problem right on our cars, has always made good on every estimate he's given us (even if he was wrong about the problem and he ends up having to eat a cost), and every few months, we get a phone call telling us there's a box of clothes for my son at the shop that his son has grown out of. I would be remiss if I didn't give these guys 5 stars. I recently moved to the Pittsburgh area in early August and my inspection just became due. Needless to say the prospect of finding a mechanic for an inspection in a new area was pretty scary. I don't know enough about cars to know if they would overprice me or anything. Needless to say given the fact that I gave them 5 stars Michael Johnson's was amazing. They were quick, told me exactly what needed to be done, ordered the part in front of me from Ebay so I knew the price for the part going into it. Of course they will mark it up slightly because they are a business and need a profit but you will know exactly how much it is marked up and it will be very reasonable. Michael is extremely nice and very trustworthy and I really feel at ease after getting my car inspected there. It is a huge weight off my shoulders knowing that if anything happens I have somewhere I can go that I can trust to do a good job and not walk away a poor man. I am soo glad I found Mike Johnson's Auto Center!! I am a young female who was skeptical of shops taking advantage of me but I am not from the area originally and picked Mike based on reviews. He definitely exceeded my expectations with the level of transparency and professionalism throughout my whole repair/inspection process. He was very reasonably priced and did quality work. I loved the convenience of being able to use one his rental cars for free while mine was being worked on so there was no disturbance in my daily routine. I needed to have my car inspected, but recently moved and needed to find a new trustworthy shop, and I choose this place based on the other yelp reviews. The reviews aren't messing around, this place is awesome. Michael has a true wealth of knowledge regarding cars, but his real skill set is being honest and helpful. I knew my old car wasn't doing well, but after his team's thorough inspection, and his talking through it with me, I was fully able to weigh my possibilities moving on. He went above and beyond in helping me, and when I ultimately decided to purchase a new vehicle (a used one) he had me bring it to the shop for a full once over FOR FREE!! This place is a single girl's dream auto shop. I did my own research and asked around about what we discussed, but my care here is what made the difference. Finding good and honest mechanics is likely what caused the expression "needle in a haystack" to exist, but since coming to Johnson's, I really think I've found the needle. His shop came recommended from a friend who knows a lot about cars and had been going to him for years. The first piece of work I needed done was so super easy that they only charged me for the part. The second time I went was for inspection and they were very upfront about what needed done now and what wasn't necessary for inspection, but needed looked at in 3-6 months. They've never done any work that let me down and are fair in their pricing. Their availability and ease of scheduling work is good and they're always willing to let the car sit in their lot for a day or two as needed. They always remember me and my car as soon as I call in and are extremely friendly and helpful. If you need a service they don't provide, they are quick to offer recommendations and the two time I've needed that (for windshields and towing) I was really pleased with the people they referred. All in all, this is the only place my husband or I will take our cars. read more
