We live a few miles away from McGuire's. We use to frequent it, until a few days ago. Normally McGuire's is excellent, but things have changed, at least for us. We spent just over $200 for lunch and were very dissatisfied. We ordered our normal, two Filets. The waiter delivered our salads, but failed to bring any drinks at all until we finished the salads. We finally waved down a hostess who told our waiter that we needed our drinks. Our steaks finally made it to the table. They were cooked perfectly, juicy, and tender. However, they forgot the normal seasoning. We finally gave up on the waiter returning to our table and just ate them as they were. We sent a message to the restaurant. No response. read more

Overall, our experience was pretty disappointing. We waited almost an hour and a half just to get inside the restaurant. Once we were finally called, we expected to be seated right away, but ended up waiting another 10 minutes before getting to our table. After that, it took about another 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. The complimentary bread was a nice touch, but once we finished it, our plates sat on the table for quite a while. With a party of five, the table became crowded quickly, and it would have been nice if dirty dishes had been cleared more promptly. For appetizers, we ordered the Reuben egg rolls and the pretzel. The Reuben egg rolls were the highlight of the meal an easy 5/5. They were flavorful and definitely worth ordering. Unfortunately, the pretzel was underwhelming. For our entrées, we ordered the tomahawk steak (which was over $100), a ribeye, and a steak salad. The tomahawk was the biggest disappointment of the night. For the price and all the hype surrounding their steaks, it was underseasoned and lacked flavor. The ribeye and steak salad were also bland and needed much more seasoning. Considering the restaurant is known for its steaks, we expected a much better experience. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend sticking with the classic pub food instead of the steaks. On vacation and we came in to town at the onset of Tropical Storm Bertha. We ordered appetizers of calamari and the shrimp cocktail. Both were excellent especially the shrimp cocktail and the house made cocktail sauce. One of the best we have experienced. Entrees were the salmon and the mahi mahi. The salmon was ok slightly over cooked but edible. The mahi was way over done. We requested a new piece of fish and they sent out another over cooked piece of Mahi Mahi. Unfortunately this put a damper on the overall experience. Guess we will stick to typical bar faire when giving this place another try. We came here on our last morning before headed back home, great choice. We got seated right away and this place is huge. One dollar bills were hanging from everywhere. We all decided to do the Belgian waffle breakfast which came with bacon, fresh fruit and yogurt. We also had beignets for the table which was included and our breakfast also included Irish coffee frozen or hot. The food came out quick, the fresh fruit by the way is mixed inside the yogurt. The waffle also came with a side of strawberry compote. The Irish whisky frozen coffee was big and was delicious. Pretty big breakfast for just $11.99. Our server was great too. I also got the cockles and mussels but they weren't very good either. The others in my party were also unimpressed by their meals. Still the best place for a steak in Destin. Literally one of the top steaks I've ever eaten in my life. The food here is amazing and you will not be disappointed with the food. Just obsessed and there is no way around it. McGuire's is an icon and true staple locally. When you come in, they give you a loaf of brown bread because of food and honey with a little dish of butter. Their bread is so damp delicious. I don't normally eat bread at restaurants but this one I just really enjoy. So do my husband and including my dog! They have the best happy hour around. Most recently, my niece had the beer burger, which was outstanding. I got a chicken salad salad, which was pretty good. I will probably order something else next time, but I'm a sucker for chicken salad. My husband has had the corned beef and the Reuben and deeply enjoyed it. We've been here a number of times.
