Great Atmosphere, But Some Things Left Us Disappointed... This was actually one of the restaurants we were most excited to try, and there were definitely things we enjoyed. The food was good, and once we were able to move outside, the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The live music and outdoor seating made for a really nice evening. Unfortunately, the experience getting there left us a little disappointed. We were seated inside immediately, even though there wasn't anyone sitting outside on the patio and the live musician was essentially playing to an empty space. We asked our server if we could sit outside, and she seemed hesitant about the request, which was frustrating considering how empty the patio was. We came early for dinner, so I completely understand if they were preparing for a rush or had reservations coming in, but that didn't seem to be the case. The biggest surprise, though, came when we got the check. We knew there was a parking fee, but having to pay for a minimum of six hours was unexpected. Then we noticed additional harbor and operating fees on the bill. Those extra charges were incredibly off-putting, especially because they weren't something we were expecting when we decided to eat here. What made it even more confusing was the suggested tip amount being calculated after those additional fees were added. We had no problem tipping our server because the service itself was decent, but being encouraged to tip on top of fees rather than simply on the cost of the meal felt confusing and, honestly, a little misleading. I think this restaurant has a lot going for it. If you're looking for good outdoor seating, live music, and a fun atmosphere, I can understand why people enjoy it. But between the initial attitude we experienced, the unexpected fees, and the way the suggested tip was calculated, the overall experience was enough that we probably wouldn't return. Would I recommend it? If the outdoor atmosphere and live music are what you're after, yes. Just go in knowing about the additional costs so you're not caught off guard like we were. read more

My bf and I had gone previously with a different captain and had such a great time that we decided to come back again to celebrate his birthday with a group of 8 people. Unfortunately, this last experience was completely different. The previous captain was interactive, gave us fun history facts, got in the water with us, offered cups/drinks, and really created a fun and welcoming atmosphere. This time around, our captain honestly made the experience uncomfortable and not enjoyable. The energy felt very much like "sit down, be quiet, and I'll just take you there." At one point he even said, "This is my aux, I control the music," which just came off unnecessarily rude and dismissive toward the group. We understand every captain has a different personality, but this experience made us realize how much the captain truly dictates the overall vibe of the trip. We ended up mostly avoiding interaction because it felt awkward, which was disappointing considering this was supposed to be a birthday celebration. On top of that, gratuity was automatically added at $15 per person, so we paid an additional $135 for an experience that honestly lacked hospitality and customer engagement. We love the concept of Tiki and had such a positive first experience, which is why this was so disappointing. I just wanted to provide honest feedback because the difference between captains completely changed the experience for us. read more

Please double-check your bill! The rumrunners were really good to start. Oysters were okay, not shucked the best. Went with a big group of 6+ and they include the tip, which is totally understandable. Now I've only been here once, so not sure if it was an honest mistake or if the server was trying to pull a fast one, but there were 2 auto gratuity line items giving them 40% tip. Either way, mistake or on purpose, I don't understand how your computer system allows you to add double gratuity on the same bill! read more

Weird place and food was meh. Not pictured are my shrimp tacos. My husband did say lobster roll was really good. My shrimp tacos were average and my son didn't really like the nachos. Beware birds to fly in and watched one take a dump in the bar area. Then watched a server stand there and pick her fingernails and chew them and then go put plate and silverware on a new table. The food was absolutely fantastic. Nonissues with food, temperature, or staff. We were a little taken back by the parking lot, as it was empty and seemed to be closed. BUT! all you need to do is PAY for parking. Which was another $10, but I'd say it's worth it after trying to find somewhere to eat for an hour before landing on Tailfins. 10000/10 recommend the food and environment. 3/10 for marketing and customer engagement outside of the venue. read more

We purchased a ride for a 3 hour trip. The way promo indicated we would stop at an island but was not aware our 5 min boat ride took us to water and then never moved until time up. We figured we see areas around Destin . The captain was nice but no offering of anything until leaving and said we have water. Because we were a group of 8 we had to tip ahead of time . I don't even know where to begin to describe the absolutely incredible experience we had with "Tiki Joe"! My friends and I rented the private tiki cruise out to crab Island and it was incredibly fun. All of us wished we had actually planned to be there all day! It was also absolutely worth it to pay up for a private event if you have a big group. Other boats had DJ booths, slides, etc. and it was so fun to get out and meet some new people. Our tiki boat had rafts that we sunned on or ate our lunch on. It was incredibly relaxing. We ended up paying to extend our trip because we were having so much fun. There are vendor boats going around the water selling food, drinks, and clothes which was pretty cool to see. Joe was the best host ever. He helped load our cooler, he had extra ice ready to keep our drinks cold, he made us cookies, he helped grab us drinks and snacks whenever we needed them, got us all set up with a speaker and let us bump our music, I mean seriously whatever we needed. Joe was so helpful, kind, and respectful. He was incredible with his anticipatory service, he would get things for us before we even had to ask, just because he was observant. read more

The grilled grouper sandwich I had was really good. I wish they offered better side options to go with the food. The beer list wasn't up to date but luckily I happened to walk by the tap and see they had Guinness on draught even though it's not listed in their menu. It was 11am and not many people were there but the bathrooms were filthy. I considered going somewhere else to use the bathroom. The views would also be a lot nicer if there wasn't a huge tv blocking it.. imagine having a restaurant on the Destin harbor and blocking those views with a tv for football. read more

Quick service with a great view! We went early March so it was on the cooler side, but still enjoyed the deck. Firecracker shrimp was 10/10!! Lobster roll had a decent amount of claw meat, but i ended up eating only half of the bun because it was so much bread. Delicious non the less. We had such a great experience on the Tiki Boat tour to Crab Island with Captain Al! He made the trip fun, easygoing, and enjoyable from the moment we boarded. One of the best parts was that there were plenty of floats available for everyone, so we could relax in the water without needing to bring anything extra. Captain Al was also very informative and shared interesting details about the area during the ride, which made the trip even better. My wife, medically diagnosed with POTS, was struggling with the heat while I attended to our one-year-old and seven-year-old children. A bartender at the hut made highly unprofessional remarks, stating, "they need to get out of here" and "this is bad for business," despite my prior explanation of her medical condition. Mahi-Mather was grilled and had ton of tasty crab stuffing with white Bernaise sauce . It was a huge portion plus the bartenders were friendly and very welcoming. Hmmmm, this multilevel restaurant with direct views to the harbor and yachts for sale is large and beautiful. We chose to sit outside as my family and I are more of natural humid air people as compared to cold indoor air conditioning. We were here on a Sunday night and were under the impression that they closed at 10:30. However, at about 9 PM it looked like the outdoor side was shutting down. We got there and sat at 7:30 and ordering crab legs so somewhat rushed as we saw them shutting everything down including live music stopping shortly before 9 PM. The live music, single man band was okay. But hey it's Destin, I guess. I don't like to talk negatively about another person's art and craft but for a Saturday night boardwalk, the live music left a lot to be desired. I was not a fan of the outdoor seating. The chairs are implanted as well as the table, so you can't move further in or further out to accommodate how close you like to sit to the table. Some people may not care about this, but I personally like to have flexibility to move my chair and sit up close to the table, so as food is not falling off the table onto the floor. We ordered seltzer water. There was none available as the CO2 machine was not working and they don't have any bottled carbonated water for sale. The tapwater tasted exactly like what it sounds like. I ordered Shirley Temple and it's probably the worst Sprite I've had in over 10 years. I literally took less than three steps from my drink. I could not tolerate it and at the 4.99 price it was not good at all. The food was delicious & fresh. We ordered the Alaskan snow crab legs, tailfin twin tails, and the tailfin stack. The fish in the tailfin stack was a bit fishy for my taste. Something to consider if that's not what you like and depending on how much you like oyster Bay seasoning make sure to ask if they use it and how much. While I like it, some people in my family do not. The young adult server seemed to be a bit inexperienced and a tad bit inattentive, especially when they were only about three tables outside at the time. Not noticing that any of our drinks were consumed, having to wait over 5 minutes to get her attention while waving my arms around like a a highway balloon during tax season is crazy. The inside entry level of the restaurant did have a completely different vibe and I did not notice if they were still active and open when we were leaving about 9 PM. I like coming to Destin, but I would definitely try other restaurants before I go back here again. Fresh seafood seems to be common around here so ambiance and service needs to be top notch. Especially for the money we're spending. read more

Very disappointing! This used to be one of our favorite places for seafood. Tonight was a different story. I was excited to get the crab stuffed flounder as it has always been my favorite. It was terrible. The fish was dry and the sauce on top was gross. There was no crab stuffed anything. The potatoes had a sour flavor and the vegetables were cold and chewy. Just all around bad. On top of that we had to pay $11.69 for parking because you are automatically charged for 6 hours. It is so sad that this restaurant is more concerned with quantity over quality. We will not be returning. Go to Louisiana Lagniappe. The food there never disappoints and you get your money's worth compared to Tailfins. read more

What stood out most--and not in a good way--was the large political cutout displayed on the ceiling near the bathrooms. It felt completely out of place in a dining setting and took away from what should have been a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Regardless of personal views, it created an uncomfortable environment. Combined with our already disappointing experience with their tiki boat excursion, this just added to an overall negative impression. Took abouy an hour to get our dinner after ordering... and the place was only about 3/4 full. Our table of 6 had no utensils to eat with... again no waitresses around... I went to the bar again for eating utensils. The bill came and for a party of 6 they tacked on a 20% gratuity without telling me, thankfully I caught it. Paid it and vowed to never go again. This place had a major fire last year that shut it down... unfortunately they rebuilt. read more
