McGehee Towing got the job done without any issues the entire way. I totaled my car hitting Bambi on a pitch-black two-lane road late at night and McGehee was the company dispatched by my insurance company. Despite getting lost along the way because my insurance company gave them my wrong location, they maintained communication with me on my cellphone to eventually get to me. The guy who arrived was polite, quick, and efficient. My car was towed to their overnight storage facility in Lampasas. When I called the next day to coordinate movement from the overnight storage facility to the collision repair site, the gentleman who answered was polite, warm, and very cooperative while I called back and forth to straighten out details between my insurance company. From my understanding, they also do collision repair at this facility, but since I had already arranged to get this towed to a repair facility closer to me, they did not try to convince me to have their own shop do the repairs. I was grateful that they did not pressure me in any way. Without any issues, McGehee towed my car for a second time to deposit it at the collision repair shop without any issues. read more

Since I have to put a star they get one. I called road side assistance and Mcgehee was the towing service. I was sent a text for 45 mins response time. I was called and said they would be there in 15 mins. 40 mins later Joe called said they were very behind because of their failure to communicate. Not my problem. He said I had to call road side assistance. It took a little over four hours. No car tomorrow thanks to Mcgehee. All over a flat tire. read more

We were referred to McGehee / ASAP towing by USAA's roadside assistance program after our car broke down ten miles North of Lampasas, where no offense to the local there are not many options for car service on a Friday night. They picked us up within 10 minutes of our call. The driver was friendly, knowledgeable, and got us home quickly. Their rates were more than fair and the customer service was excellent. read more

I had to have my vehicle towed from my house to Benny Boyd Dodge. The distance from my house to the dealership is 25 miles. My insurance policy only covered a tow within 15 miles. McGehee Towing/ASAP Towing covered the rest of the tow free of charge. read more

As far as I can tell, this is the same as ASAP Towing in Georgetown, TX (this is the phone number my insurance agency gave me, but with the name ASAP). Just in case it is the same, we wanted to be sure folks know how GREAT they are! Had to call Roadside Assistance late one Friday night when we got the van stuck in a mud pit at a football game in Bastrop. ASAP was the company sent to save us, and they did! They had to use a 100' cable and winch to rescue the van (the mud was so horrific that sending a tow truck in to get us would have resulted in it getting stuck as well). The driver had a great attitude, kind words, and most importantly persevered in figuring out a way to get us un-stuck - all for a rate much less than we feared. If we have need of a tow service again, we'll definitely be reaching out to ASAP/McGehee! read more

Very poor service. Our gas gage wasn't working and we ran out of gas 2 miles north of Lampasas. I called for assistance and Justin told me 15 minutes for service to arrive. 30 minutes later I called back when no one arrived and he told me driver was in route. 45 minutes later I called back again and asked him for the cell of the actual driver. I called the driver and he told me he was just leaving. So, obviously he had never been in route. I felt like they lied to me on their ETA to keep me on the hook. They left me stranded for an hour on the side of the highway when I was literally only 2 min away. I would have walked back into town had it not been a cold rain storm. And, then they charged me $67.50. Overall, just really unprofessional and poor customer service. read more

I locked my keys in my car at church. My insurance company recommended McGehee Towing to pop the lock. The towing company was given our exact location and we were quoted $50 to open the car. When the driver arrived, he informed me that the price was actually $75, that we should have told him where we were. I explained that we had given an exact location, including the distance from his business to the where the car was located. He shrugged and said, "Well, I didn't get that. It's $75. As he was opening the door, I asked whether he preferred a check or credit card. He informed me that he preferred cash. I said I didn't have any cash, and the work came to a stop. I went into the church and found $67 cash from various people. I told him I would pay $67 cash and put the rest on the card, and that was the best I could do. He reluctantly agreed. He asked if I was there for church, to which I said I was. My wife informed him that I was the preacher. He responded, "I'm sorry!" This was by no means an experience I would recommend to anyone else. read more

Due to my insurance company I have had to endure their incompetence as a towing company twice. The first time I was quoted 45 minutes till their arrival and the driver asked me for directions to where I was located. He said he was coming from Lampasas (traveling east) on FM580 so I told him that I was exactly 1/2 mile east of Topsey on FM580. When he came to Topsey at the intersection where FM1113 ends at FM 580 to continue on FM580 thru Topsey (heading east towards Pidcoke and FM116) and I was located exactly 1/2 mile east of Topsey on FM 580. So the driver turns right on FM1113 and heads (south) towards Copperas Cove (which is 10 miles away) and calls me to inform me that I was not on FM 580 because he just came that way. I explained to the driver that he was traveling from the west and headed east on FM 580 and that I was exactly 1/2 mile east of Topsey. I told him to turn around on FM1113 and go back to FM580 in Topsey and take a right at the stop sign and I would be exactly 1/2 mile down. The driver became rude and argumentative explaining that he new his way around the area and that I was not on FM580. After explaining to the driver that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west and that he had not traveled east of Topsey but turned south on FM1113 off of 580, I once again explained to him how to turn around and return back to 580 and turn right (east) and find my location. Instead the driver continued on FM1113 into Copperas Cove and then turned north on FM116 towards Pidcoke 11 miles away and then he turned left on FM580 and traveled west towards Topsey 6 miles away. After over an hour and a half of repeated calls and arguing the driver pulled up to my vehicle on the side of the road to find it parked under an FM580 sign. At that point he finally quit arguing that I was not on FM580. We then traveled 1/2 mile west into Topsey and turned Left (south) onto FM1113 to take my vehicle into Copperas Cove for repair. The second time I had to use this awful service was to have my vehicle towed in for repair to Copperas Cove. The driver showed up with a wrecker that was woefully inadequate for the job and unsafe and could barely lift my truck. Once again after frustratingly long wait I decided to continue with this service since I really needed to get my truck fixed and back on the road again. The driver had to stop repeatedly and raise the lift boom because the hydraulics would bleed off due to the weight of my truck. On top of this blunder was the fact that they towed and dropped off my truck to the wrong shop which I found out an hour later when my truck was not at the repair shop where it was supposed to be. The drivers are arrogant, rude, know-it-alls, and can't follow directions of location and where to tow your vehicle. I have requested my insurance company to never use them again. read more
