I was very excited to be going to the premium double decker McDonald's and visit the pent house suite on the top floor. Not to say I am upset, but I am not thrilled with the experience. Went for the classic first lunch special, 2 deluxe mcrispys to share with my pilot. It was my turn to pay so I made my venture inside. The inside was very clean and the employees were very nice. I did have to wait a little bit for our sandwiches however and the results were not perfect. Neither of our sandwiches had pickles and my pilots tomatoes consisted of the core. When I came in an told my order number, I was told abruptly," waiting for the filet o fish. When we received the food the fries and my son's burger were cold. The apple pies were also cold and one of them was dry and rubbery. Plus one soda machine has not made ice in over a year. The other soda machine, though equipped to mix and match several flavors of soda, Powerade etc, it only has a couple options. Ohoho let me tell you about this place. The foods alright, (chicken nuggets and big mac sauce is my current addiction-), but the service really depends on the day. Sundays are a complete mess, usually being staffed with a max of 3 people until around 3pm and the quite stressful and loud environment. During the week it's alright, more staff and overall they're friendly. I will say though, the work environment seems a bit hectic and quite toxic at times. This is the absolute worst McDonalds that I have been to. The manager and staff are extremely unhelpful. I placed a mobile order after checking on Google that they were open 24 hrs. I got there at 10:30 PM and the doors were locked. I got the attention of a staff member and he came to talk to me, but did not open the door. I told him I was picking up a mobile order and he said that mobile orders don't go through past 10 PM, so I showed him my confirmation. He went back to check for it and had the manager come out and talk to me. I also told her that I was picking up a mobile order and she told me they were closed. I told her that online it says that they are open 24 hrs and on the door, it says they close at 11 PM, but all she said was "Don't look at that." I explained to her that I already placed the order and paid, but she said she couldn't do anything. I showed her my confirmation and she the address on my order was for the Stop N Shop next door. I knew she was lying because there is no way an order in the McDonalds app send its to Stop N Shop because that means all mobile orders are sent there. I told her that I was frustrated because I felt like I was being lied to due to the wrong hours AND that she just lied to me. She kept giving me excuses like, "I'm not American," which I don't see how that even applies in this situation. After asking her if she understood my frustration, she threatened to call the cops on me so I was forced to leave. When I got home, I got a message in the McDonalds app that my order was cancelled, so I knew for sure that she was lying to me about the order going to Stop N Shop. After a pleasant hike in the Connecticut foothills, my lady and I arrived in the tiny hamlet of Unionville, hungry for a late afternoon meal. After much debate, we agreed upon McDonald's of Unionville, a local eating establishment which promises to "serve food in a fast manner." Indeed, the waitstaff was efficient and friendly, and delivered our meal over-the-counter within minutes, properly packaged in a decorative red and white paper sack. The dining area was rife with open seating, including a pair of plush armchairs near the entryway. We chose a more standard booth seating arrangement to enjoy our fare, next to one of the many HD televisions. The Ranch BLT Premium Chicken Sandwich was professionally prepared, and served in an attractive biodegradable cardboard box. My girlfriend had the same, but favored the crispy chicken, whereas I opted for the grilled. The crunch of the bacon and fresh lettuce contrasted nicely with the pleasant tenderness of the chicken patty. Served on a Whole Wheat Kaiser Roll with creamy Ranch Aioli, I found this sandwich to be an ideal handheld eating experience. The French Fried Potatoes served as a more-than-satisfactory accoutrement to the main course. The subtle crispness and salty exterior of the potatoes was pleasing to the senses, whether eaten alone, or dipped in Sweet Tomato-Vinegar Puree, available in unlimited amounts near the beverage bar. Beverages are served by an Electronic Beverage Steward, an "e-Sommelier" if you will. Using the available touch screen, I chose the 2012 Coke Zero, an effervescent yet modestly-priced selection, which paired nicely with the meal described above. Our total came to $7.73 with the aide of a promotional certificate that guaranteed my main course on the house. This isn't about the food but about the service and the way this Mcdonalds chooses to let children watch horrible things as they eat food. EVERYTIME I go in there (and I live close so I walk there a bunch with my kids) the TV in the Children's room (where they play on the slides) is on CSPAN or CNN covering the glorious details of isis, beheadings, rape, murder etc. Its been going on for months and every time I ask for it to be changed or turned off the reply is "NO." Yesterday was Halloween and the place had way more kids in it than usual...Funny thing...no one was in the kids room. WHY???? Once again coverage of mass killings etc on the TV directly facing the slide. So I ask again... "Can you please change the channel to something more kid friendly??" The blonde with the accent says "NO!" " we do NOT change the channel it is on." So I tell her what is on it and to please turn it off (thinking she would understand since shes in her 60s and probably has grandkids)...she says "NO" again...so I get loud in the place (after three polite ways of asking) and let the whole place know what is happening. At this point, many other mothers come over to me and explain that's why they never go in the room with the slide. (Why THEY have NEVER spoken up is beyond me) Eventually, after a big episode in front of the entire place, it gets turned off and suddenly kids are playing on the slide. WHATS WRONG WITH THE STAFF AND THE OWNER????? Ruby Tuesday and other family friendly places are not allowed to even play sports these days due to hot headed fans etc and not wanting the kids to see things they shouldn't.
