What happen to the Egg McMuffin? I have always loved the Egg McMuffin but do not eat it frequently, probably twice a year. I was doing errands so needed to grab something quickly and thought I have not had a Egg McMuffin in a while. What I found was surprising, it definitely overall has gotten smaller, the Canadian bacon slice used to be a think slice now it is a thin slice. "Wow what a change! Still a deal for seniors!" It's been years since I visited this location. Honestly, I just got tired of their poor service. What a difference now. It has been completely remodeled inside. Absolutely clean and modern. On Christmas day, I was looking for some coffee and this location was open. Quick, courteous service. The food is consistent every time. The burgers and nuggets are always a go to item. The folks that work there know there job and they do their best to get me through the drive through asap. This review is only for the drive through iced latte. I started to get iced latte from McDonald's because I noticed it tastes better than the one in Starbucks for a much cheaper price. But when we got to the window, the staff member told us to wait at the #2 parking space because the egg was still apparently not ready. One of the mcmuffins were good, but when I tried the other one, I was shocked to realize that there were multiple pieces of egg shell in the egg. Recently McDonald's has been advertising on TV about their new, improved burgers. This piqued my curiosity. Was this an admission that their burgers were sub-par all these years? I thought it was worth a visit to see if they really did make improvements to their line of burgers. The following review is limited to the "Quarter Pounder w/Cheese, only. I don't go to McDonalds on a regular basis but when I do, this is the sandwich that I order. It's the burger I am most familiar with in the past. Here's what their recent press release states: "I'll always remember my first burger from McDonald's. And now my culinary team and I have the best job in the world: thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald's taste to fans," said Chef Chad Schafer, Senior Director of Culinary Innovation, McDonald's USA. "We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever." Here's my experience with the new, improved 1/4 Pounder with Cheese. The individual changes are relatively minor on this sandwich but as an aggregate, they do combine to result in a better burger! Now, however, it's being made slightly differently: The onions are added to the burger patties on the grill, and the finished burger features more sauce. In between each tier, there is a generous slathering of sauce, more pickles, real melted cheese which oozes out of the sides of the 1/4 Pounder w/Cheese! This burger is now messier than before. This McDonald's is solid and consistent. They did recently upgrade their drive thru to have two machines now. I like that you can see your order on the screen when you're ordering. When you get to the pay window, the credit card machine is pushed out so it's easy to pay even in a small car. They are pretty quick and efficient and only once did I have to wait in a spot for them to bring my order over. Workers are nice. read more

When eating at McDonalds, I only expect a few things...consistent food, cleanliness and safety. I would say this location is improving. San Ramon is generally safe suburb, so no concerns here. The interior McCafe has been remodeled with more modern design. They highlight is the play area for toddlers and younger kids with climbing structures, games and some video screens. My younger one loves it. There is also a sitting area in the back away from the play area which is a nice escape if you are just looking for a quiet meal. Back to the consistency of the food... it's hit or miss, sometimes a sloppily put together burger, sometimes they get it right (still tastes like McDonalds). The drinks and fries are pretty good though and a good value compared to the Starbucks nearby. It works out well if you are cost conscious. The tables could use more frequent cleaning, but overall it's not too overcrowded and a pleasant weekend experience. Speaking of Service, McDonalds corporate is clearly moving away from a people focused approach so don't expect too much here...although the staff will accommodate requests for napkins, condiments, extra cups, etc. Have you downloaded there app lately? Aww cute the McDonald's location I grew up with! I still remember being a kid and playing inside the Place Place here :) Such fond memories. I haven't been to this McDonald's in year but I recently came back with my sister and bro-in-law for breakfast. I've always loved McDonald's hotcakes but I noticed it wasn't on their menu anymore, I asked the employee working there and I guess it's still available even if it's not advertised. I got the hotcakes breakfast with hashbrowns and sausage. They have a McCafe menu that's only $2 for coffee drinks like iced caramel macchiatos. It's extremely sweet but not bad for the price you pay. I like how the children's section is separate so you don't have to sit where there's kids running around and making noises while you eat. read more
