I really enjoy coming to thus mcdonalds locations because they have lots of seating inside and it is always clean. One of the two managers is very rude at this location. There were three of us waiting in line for a good 6 to 8 minutes nobody even acknowledged us so I said hello to her as she was walking back-and-forth ignoring us, and she snapped her fingers at me in an angry way and said what. We fled the fires and chose Ojai to stay- after getting in late and exhausted knowing our home was gone we just wanted to eat and this was the only place open. We confirmed THREE times that the burgers had no cheese as my husband is allergic- got back to the hotel and found every single thing had cheese on it. My husband just HAD to go to McDonalds today to get the iconic Grimace Birthday meal while it is still available. This McDonalds is neatly located on the top of a mini hill off of the main road into Ojai. It is very clean looking with all updated fixtures and tech. The drive through had about 5 cars in front of us and took us about 5 minutes to go through in total. The woman who took our order made sure to get our points for the order added to my husbands account which was nice of her to go the extra mile to help us out. Then she was very friendly when we got up to the window to pay. And finally the meal came out and was brought to us by a employee with a big smile on her face. It was a great way to close out the drive thru experience, and leave us feeling positive about our visit. read more

I ordered all my food at the kiosk and it was made correctly. Got a second order for dessert at the counter which the manager made with the right amount of ice cream and toppings unlike many other restaurants . Even got a free medium fry with the app. Those fries were some of the hottest and freshest fries I have ever had! The workers were friendly and seemed like they enjoyed being there. It was a hot day (hovering around 100), I was on my motorcycle on my way to a campground, and wanted to spend a few minutes inside with air conditioning, enjoying a cheap breakfast, and borrowing the wi-fi. The had signs on the door that they had no indoor dining due to COVID restrictions. That was the first time I've run into that anywhere, and nobody else in the Ojai area is banning indoor dining. I went in this place to get a double filet of fish. I tried to order on those stupid job killing kiosks, but the item I wanted wasn't on the menu. Walk over to what used a place to order and the kid says, " I can help you prefer on the kiosk", I said no I don't like to use them. So he took my order and scarily the order came out in 30 seconds. I am happy that the workers are getting raises they deserve it. This McDonald's has had its ups and downs and was in bad shape before the remodeling. I have also noticed that the size of the bread and FF. They have managed to sneak small changes to us. For lent, it was a quick go-to for the fish sandwich the size has been reduced big-time. Four stars compared to other fast food. The staff here is always friendly and enthusiastic. I occasionally come here for breakfast to get their oatmeal, which is really good. Today I stopped for lunch and had a grilled chicken club sandwich. It was fresh, very hot, and delicious. It easily rivaled other fast food chicken sandwiches in terms of taste. Boycott this McDonalds. The manager does not understand the word customer service. I went to purchase the two for five because they had the signs up all around the building and the girl at the counter said they are no longer serving the two for five menu. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out and said the same thing to me. I pointed out the fact that there were signs all over the place and that he needs to know them. He said the offer was over. We discussed it and he continued to insist that they were not going to provide the two for five even though the signs were still up. When I asked for more ketchup and hot sauce, the person working sighed and grunted. Upon her return, she handed me the bag and said "where's my tip." She may have been joking, I just laughed it off. But in my defense, I did ask for a handful of ketchup and hot sauce. My large soda was flat and the French fries were cold and stale. It was pretty late so is this normal to serve late at night? We went into McDonald's the other day around 6:40 am and they were not even serving food yet! They open at 6. Worse, we stood there for a lengthy time without anyone saying anything to us. It took another (non) customer--who spoke with a worker he knew--to tell us that they were not serving yet. Their service never is good so this did not surprise me. There are not many drive-thru options near Ojai. (None In Ojai). This McDonalds is consistently one of the worst fast-food restaurants. They are always out of ice cream in summer - it's actually a local joke. Today they were out of coffee (all), tea, chicken, and a list of other things. Just a poorly managed restaurant. Decent food and friendly staff, but is there a reason why the lobby is still closed? I understand during lockdown and restrictions, but the last restrictions ended in June, and the lobby remains closed. So I'm seeing that reviews are all over the place for this McDonald's. I came off a God-awful hike in the Los Padres National Forest today wanting protein, carbs, and inhuman amounts of sugar, delivered as quickly as possible. I didn't want anything ironic, or fusion-y, or hipster, which ruled out most of the places in Ojai proper (I like Ojai, but sometimes it's a bit much). I've been to this McDonald's a couple of times before, also usually after hikes. What prompted me to write this review today was the condition of the dining room and bathroom. I mean, my meal was good, no problems there, but unless someone's having a really bad day, the Quarter Pounder at one McD's is pretty much like the one at another. What was noticeable was that the dining area was super clean, and all the tables that were empty were also wiped off and clean, with no trash or food residue in evidence. The men's bathroom was near-immaculate, better than the condition of some foodie-type restaurants I've been to. This was on a Friday afternoon, after what I'm guessing would be the normal lunch rush, so I don't know what this place might look like when things are running hot and heavy. I worked at this exact McDonald's for close to 6 years. I can safely say this McDonald's is the single worst managed restaurant in Ojai, and one of the worst managed McDonald's in the county. To say management treats its staff terribly is an understatement. They put us under unnecessary stress over the most minute details. Not to mention sometimes, management will disappear for what could be hours, even when we are very busy with customers. Usually they're out in the back office, using their phones. And them comes the machines. Anyone who lives in Ojai has come to expect the soda machine to be broken. ( They break down once every 3 days on average). Here's why: The refrigeration units for the machines are VERY old. One time, when the maintenance guys came from Coca-Cola to repair the soda machine, I overheard them saying it was 10 YEARS overdue for a replacement. 10 YEARS! Mind you, this was in 2015. Come 2019, and they still use the same refrigeration unit, and to no surprise, it breaks down a lot. They can afford to add unnecessary add-ons like a playplace and self-serve kiosks, but they can't even bother to replace equipment that desperately need replacing? As a former employee from this location, avoid here at all cost. Go to Wendy's, O-hi Frostee, Jolly Kone, Jim & Robs, etc. They're better options than to support a poorly managed restaurant like Ojai McDonalds. read more
