The kids loved the play place. We hadn't been to this McDonald's since before the pandemic. It was only take out for a long time after as well. The food was good except for cold fries. We enjoy the chicken nuggets and the basket of fries. The ambiance of the restaurant was bright and cheerful. It really as changed. Highly recommend in Irwin Rt 30. What else can I say? Learn the basic history of the Big Mac, see a bronze bust of its creator, view the impressive Gigantic Mac in the play area. That said, it's a McDonald's with a little display honoring the iconic sandwich with some display cases. I normally do not review McDonald's but this one is special. It is the home of the birth of the Big Mac. The sandwich was created by Jim Delligatti, one of the first McDonald's franchisees in an effort to give adults a burger of their own. This McDonalds is huge. They have a nice new playland, with a large jungle gym and seating. What sets this McDonald's apart though, is that it is home to the first and only Big Mac museum. It is a very small museum, and has a long Big Mac timeline starting with the inception of the delicious sandwich back in 1967 to the roll out of its world famous jingle in 1974, to the Build a Big Mac Game in 1981. You will also find some Big Mac memorabilia here. The restaurant's dining area was notably clean, tidy and trendy. The restaurant looks like it may have been recently renovated. The restaurant seems to be having some staffing issue though. They have been having to close the restaurant early and the dining room even earlier which made me almost miss it. This is not a destination restaurant, but it is a nice place to visit if you are in the area. The staff was very friendly and I cannot express how clean it was. Go check it out. read more

We've lived in Pittsburgh for about 4 years and this place was on our bucket list. We aren't big McDonald's fans, but when the Big Mac was invented in Pittsburgh...it is worth a stop. This location is essentially like any other McDs you've been to, but this one has a few display cases of the history of the Big Mac and some memorabilia. It was fun to read up on and check off an item on our bucket list. Did I go away a bigger McDs fan? Finally a McDonald's with color and jive. All the other McDonald's look like office cubicles for somebody's depressing life. With employees donning their grey slave/prison jumpsuit uniforms. Contemporary styling is shit. It makes me want to paint the restroom walls with my brain. This Big Mac museum is quite the contrary. This location retains the happy and free spirit of a classic American burger joint and commemorates the classic Big Mac sandwich developed in nearby Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And The Beach Boys playing on the radio really sets the mood for a fantastic meal. Although their remodel a few years ago took away a lot of cool displays like the McDonald's model train. As for the food...I don't recommend ordering from here just go to see the "museum". We waited almost a half an hour being told our order hadn't come in and then randomly had our food out at the pick up area. The fries were cold. And the chicken nuggets were barely warm. So, I do regret getting food but I don't regret seeing the Big Mac Museum, it's definitely worth a visit. I do find it interesting how important Mcdonalds is for Pittsburgh! This is the only McDonald's whose computers won't receive your online order for 20 to 30 minutes... maybe this excuse would be reasonable in a remote region of Alaska or somewhere. The museum was cool and worth a visit. I wish we had just walked inside saw all of the displays and went to another McDonald's location. The BigMac was exactly what I expected it to be so I have to give props to McDonalds for always maintaining consistency. What brought me in today though was actually the Big Mac museum! There are about a dozen display cases around the restaurant highlighting Big Mac memorabilia from the 1960s to now. I thought it was really cool to see as most of the info was new to me and gave me a better idea for how the burger and promotions have changed over time. I normally am in this area and use the North Huntgindon McDonalds the first Friday of every month. Almost everytime I'm there the mobile order is NOT CORRECT and I"ve just been letting it go as I find out when I'm home. However, this past Friday when I was there I PAID AND ORDERED A DOUBLE FISH SANDWICH and when I got home, found they gave me only a SINGLE FISH SANDWICH. I contacted McDonald's corporate online who sent a form-type e-mail response back saying 'WE SORRY WE DIDN'T MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS". No credit was given to my credit card for the mistake, no coupon for another fish sandwich - NOTHING!. I know it was just a slight overcharge for the double that I paid, but it's the principal of the thing since this happens OVER AND OVER to me at this particular McDonalds.. So word to the wise (and I will heed this myself): CHECK YOUR ITEMS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THEIR MCDONALDS so you don't get a disappointed surprise when you get home. read more

The only reason I'm writing a review of this particular McDonald's location, is because it is also a museum of sorts (https://corporate.mcdonalds.com/mcd/our_company-old/mcdonalds_history_timeline/museums/big_mac_museum_restaurant.html) to the Big Mac which was invented by Jim Delligatti in nearby Uniontown, PA. While I don't eat at McDonald's often, since I was in the area I stopped by to check out the exhibits which included a 14-ft Big Mac statue, LCD TVs with McDonald's related content, and display cases full of memorabilia. I will award an extra star to this location, since for once, the food actually "LOOKED" like the menu pictures, which is a rarity. The buns on my Big Mac were still nice and fluffy with a nice brown toasty top - which is usually not the case as they are usually smushed or damaged when I unwrap them. The lettuce was neatly piled on, and the beef was not overly dry. My first batch of fries tasted a bit cold and chewy, but the counter person gladly replaced them with a fresh hot batch a few minutes later; NOTHING beats Mickey D's fries when they come out of the fryer! It was interesting walking around and reading the various articles and seeing some of old kitchen equipment. Full disclosure, in that I did my penance as a McDonald's employee while in my teens, and when it was waaay more labor intensive. I recall burning my arm on the bun toaster and having to swap out the industrial Caulk sized like tube of "Special Sauce" when assembly line making the Big Macs. While the work was exhausting and I usually had to shower after work to scrub that fried grease smell off of me, I did learn lots of important life lessons from that job oh so many summers ago. Sure this place is the definition of kitsch, but it's also provides a fascinating background to arguably America's most iconic hamburger. read more

One of the upper end store of McDonald's...solely because it's the birthplace of Big Mac, and the store is also advertised as the Big Mac Museum, where the Big Mac was invented! My SO and I were already around the area and stopped by this store because we saw the place advertised as the Big Mac Museum in the brochure we got at Fallingwater. Since it was on our way back to Pittsburgh anyways, we stopped by to get a chance to see this place. Honestly, the place is really just another McDonald's store..except it also has some other memorabilia related to Big Mac like bun toaster that was used decades back and a few historical timeline notes on the table/table partition. Besides that, however, it's not really a museum per se..just a nicer place to have your typical McDonald's meal after all. Overall, we were ok with this place, especially if you are already planning on grabbing a meal here (of course, we had to have Big Mac here when we were there). You can take some time to read more / view different info about McDonald's. However, if you were thinking of driving all the way just to visit this museum, it's probably not worth it..it's really just a store with some historical aspect to it..nothing more beyond that. read more

The museum is inside a working McDonalds and sadly closed when I visited. I was following the 'Uncovering PA' facebook page for things to see in Pennsylvania so thought the worlds largest Big Mac would be fun. It was not! I did love the memorabelia, but couldn't go in and see the Big Mac so took a picture thru the glass. I waited in line to see if there were any tshirts for sale, and watched the Manager berate several employees which immediately turned me off. Clearly he is lacking people and leadership skills and should be replaced before they lose all their employees. When I asked if any tshirts were available, he snapped they were all sold out. Clearly I didn't buy ANYTHING here as I will not support his bad behaviour... I felt bad for his employees and won't visit again and don't recommend you visit either. read more

I took my kid here because we had a long day. After 2 hours of hard work at home, we really just wanted the Grimace Shake for dear old Grimace's Birthday. Well, if you are looking to get yourself some of the new grimace juices, best hang that up before you walk in the door. They are all out. If the wait wasn't long enough, you won't get no grimmy milk-shake either. I've known how AWFUL their wait is but damn, just for a shake. For Pete's sake. AND the poor old woman wearing the cute Y2K pop shirt that had to make this was so sad. This particular location has been riddled with quality issues for a while. Out of all the fast food restaurants in the Irwin area, this is the one that has the highest likelihood of screwing up the drive through orders. It's more often than not that if we go there at least one thing in the order is missing. I have two young kids who love their happy meals, but I am so fed up with this location's quality of service that I'm likely not going back. RIP. read more

I have been going to this McDonald's since high school. In fact, it was probably one of the first fast food restaurants to open along this stretch of Route 30. It has been transformed over the years and now its bragging rights includes the fact that the Big Mac Museum is located right inside the heart of their restaurant. I am always pleased with the warm environment of this place and the fact that it does not feel as though one is eating at a fast food restaurant . There is always something to look at and explore while you are inside the dining area. Today I stopped in for coffee and just happened to be treated to the activities of a very large bustling group of regular diners know as The Sunshine Group. This group is led by a wonderfully sweet 90-something year old McDonald's employee named Ruthie. The group gets together to socialize, share a meal, and sing a few songs. They were having the time of their lives just singing away on this very gloomy rainy day. I was invited to come over and join them and help myself to a muffin or two as long as I participated with them in singing a round of "You Are My Sunshine". This is actually like a 2.5 star review. If you look back through my reviews you will note that I decidedly stay away from McDonald's as a whole. I actually loathe McDonald's but I sucked it up and decided that I would give it a try on this one occasion because of what this place truly is, the Big Mac Museum. Yes that is correct, this is a "museum" in the loose sense. Museum would seem to just be a term slapped on this building just because. What you would expect is a nice exhibit chronicling the Big Mac. What you actually get is a few display cases and a few plaques throughout the main building. Throw in a few tabletops that have some information written on them and that's what you get here. That is a big gripe here, but only one of many. I appreciate them considering a Big Mac museum. But why here, especially when the actual Big Mac was created in Uniontown, not the Irwin area. I love how Pittsburgh tries to stake a claim to it too, but as the small amount of information given here it tells you Uniontown, a Fayette County town, is the rightful owner of that title. After years of not eating McDonald's I decided why not give it a try here. Because of it being the Big Mac Museum I chose the Big Mac meal. It's exactly how I remember it right down to the indigestion that followed. The fries aren't what I remembered them to be. Being that they serve Coke products for drinks, I had to go with a bottle of water. With fast food restaurants attempting to draw people in, this is nothing more than a gimmick to bring you in. I don't get the four star rating for this place. I mean first off it's a McDonalds. If you're rating the food of the Moldy Arches in general as four or five stars there's something wrong with you and not in a good way either. To quote Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery from Celebrity Jeopardy: "Boy, you might be legally retarded." With that out of the way let's talk about the "museum" itself. Sure some of the displays were neat with the sauce gun that looks like a Nascar pit crew could have used it to grease some ball joints and the displays with the different packaging & advertisements that were a nice trip down memory lane but not at the expense of getting too close for comfort with other people eating since the displays and actual eating tables are awkwardly too close together.. In the end what they offer really is NOT a museum and to use that name is at best a misnomer and in reality is probably closer to false advertising. Sure there are some unique nuggets of info that you will ooh and aah over but by-in-large it's a waste of time especially considering how much hype/advertising exists making it sound like there is more here than there really is. Oh and by the way, obviously it is still a functioning McD's. While I'm sure most would eat here no problem we were skeeved beyond belief at the filth factor. Upon entering the first thing I noticed was not the giant Big Mac buried back in the play area so as to almost be hidden, no I noticed that all three of the front garbage receptacles were over flowing with trash. Upon a quick trip to the bathroom let's just say that it wasn't exactly any better in there either. So no, we did not partake in a Big Mac at the Big Mac museum and no we were not wowed by what we saw. Thankfully we were in and out in under ten minutes but it's ten minutes that I wish I could get back to do something more creative with like.....fall off the roof of my house into a pool of dull razor blades. read more

To be a McDonal's this is a good one. It's clean & my order was correct. Staff is friendly. One employee saw us looking at the McD artifacts & came over & asked if this was our first time there. She was knowledgeable & gave us a brief history of the inventor of the Big Mac, who was (deceased) the owner of that franchise. There's a few display cases of old McDonald's memorabilia in the dining area. The ginormous Big Mac is in the kids play area (14 ft). read more

How can you go wrong with a visit to a place that houses the world's largest big mac statue?! Really, this McDonalds isn't that different than a typical McDonalds with the exception of there being history and facts about the Big Mac scattered throughout along with memorabilia from McDonald's history. Well, that and the Big Mac statue (which is located in the kid's play area). Service is about what you'd expect at a McDonalds and the prices and menu were identical to every other McDonalds I've ever been to. But in those locations, you don't get the joy of learning the average amount of sesame seeds on a big mac bun. read more
