I've been coming to the Park Restaurant for many years now. While other restaurants in Abbeville…read morecome and go, the Park has stayed the same and keeps on serving up satisfying selections to locals and visitors alike. The Park has a big breakfast following. They do pancakes and omelettes in addition to their standard breakfast fare. If you get a chance you should certainly try their Sweet Potato Pancakes! A Southern speciality! I am usually in the Park for lunch, and they are excellent for a midday meal. It should be mentioned that if you want to eat breakfast for lunch, they will accommodate you till 2PM! If you want a more traditional lunch, they have a daily Plate Lunch that pairs a hearty entree with rice and two sides. They also have a great selection of sandwiches ranging from a simple BLT to loaded Po-Boys. There's also a Crab Patty Burger for something delicious and different! But that's not all! There's soups, salads, and seafood! There's also a Short Order section of the menu. For the health conscious, there's a selection of grilled seafood served with grilled broccoli! There's also dessert! Usually there's slices of three to four pies, and often bread pudding. This will be a great finish for a homestyle meal. It's a small historic building, that's not too fancy. In fact it is so historic that the restrooms are outside out back. However, this shouldn't deter the visitor looking for a good meal, as we all know that local hole-in-the-walls are worth visiting...

The service was perfect, the ladies were so friendly, sweet, and attentive. Gets a bit loud at times since the place is small, but that's south Louisiana for you; we're all talking lol. Prices were very reasonable as well! I'm definitely satisfied with my visit.

You've been driving so long you're not even sure what state you are in, or what day it is, bless your heart. But hang in there, drive about a mile from the exit, hang a left and a right (let Waze guide you) and find your way to 1118 State. You'll swear you've stepped back in time, and that you're on old rt 66. Park yourself and walk up to the window. The locals will be lined up, and they don't mind if you furriners ain't from around these parts. The friendly ladies will greet you, call you sugar and baby, whip you up a milkshake and a cheeseburger dee-luxe in no time flat. No one's asking how you want it cooked - they cook it the way they have been cooking it forever - and it'll be pretty darn near the most perfect cheeseburger you can remember having. The milkshakes are, well, they should be mandatory. Point being, get one. They are rich and thick and made with real ice cream (of course). Don't come here looking for a salad, but they do have grilled cheese, fries, fried mushrooms and a few other non-meat options for you fat vegetarians. Everything here is so relaxin and tasty that you might have almost forgotten that you have to pee. There _is_ a bathroom here but this furriner recommends you hold it just a lick longer unless you're super into roughing it. Maybe stop at the McD's or BK on the way back to I-10 to take care of that bidness, bless your heart.

    1) this place is NOT a drive-in. It used to be a long time ago…read more 2) outside seating only...and the picnic tables are filthy and decaying. The staff clearly NEVER bother to wipe them off. Birds and stray cats are assigned that duty. 3) the food is NOT fresh. This is a fast food burger joint and everything is clearly kept in the freezer. 4) not a stop for anyone who cares about what they put in their body. Aside from the poor food options, the ice cream and drinks are all filled with fake ingredients. 5) The staff is friendly, but the service is gawd-awful S-L-O-W.... Gas stations on the interstate have MUCH better offerings....

The Southern Spread is another great restaurant in Abbeville! It has a unique cuisine that marries…read moreCajun and home-style foods, with a touch of class. It's both familiar and different, a delightful play on themes we all know and love. One example was the Bougie BLT I had today. It's the Melt of the Month, and is what happens when a BLT and a high-end grilled cheese sandwich have a love child. There's other adult grilled cheeses that are really great. Then there the things on buns, which include burgers and roast beef. I haven't made it to the plate lunches yet, but I intend to someday. I am also highly tempted by the whole-meal potatoes, there's a seafood and a beef version. Sides are available, but I just can't get past the loaded mashed potatoes and the seasoned fries. Both are incredible. For the more diet conscious there are some very nice salads and wraps. Soups and gumbos round out the menu. Service is always very nice and the orders are served promptly. Given these things, I certainly will have the Southern Spread on my short list of places to eat in Abbeville!

. OK, just got back…read morefrom our first visit here. Everything is confusing, up-front, but the food is very, very good and it is a nice place. Let me take it item-by-item. "Food Truck", yes there is a food truck, but it is parked in front of a nice medium size restaurant-cafe. Plenty parking in non-shaded private corner concrete lot, well-marked. There is sufficient parking even for a couple truck/boat-trailer rigs. Easy street access; place is about one block east of the V.P. Court House & VPSO HQ, fronting on Charity Street (Old LA HWY 14) in the business/banking/government center. This is in an extremely competitive restaurant neighborhood, with a number of excellent established eateries. In fact, we often drive the 45" to eat at several of the older places here. Entire place is very clean & neat, including restrooms. Their kitchen closes @ 2:00 PM Sundays. Arriving about 1:20, we were the only customers. Sunday menu is limited to breakfast & brunch type items. Foods are typical for region. This town is famous for good cooks, great Cajun & Southern foods. Waitress is nice, but is unsure of menu items; the maitre d' is more knowledgeable. However, once we got our cheeseburgers & fries, the meal was excellent. Very good burgers, good fries. Overall, very good food, digs, & overall value. No real disappointments. We'll definitely be back, but likely on a weekday for lunch. Will add Southern Spread to our "go-to list", especially when pulling our small boat. This is a definite "Try it, you will like it place" ! Rick .
