This is not a review of the McDonald's in Ellington per se which I believe does a wonderful job, but rather of McDonald's new "lobster roll." Since I absolutely love Lobster Rolls, I had to taste McDonald's attempt at one. Their sandwich should more appropriately be named, "Lobster Salad Roll" as it had about 98% lobster salad, made up of minute pieces of lobster meat, one or two small chunks of actual lobster meat, and lettuce. Yes, they actually had lettuce in their lobster "salad" roll. While the sandwich was decent, it is McDonald's poor attempt of a New England favorite. This is a nice McDonald's always clean and has very pleasant staff at the front counter. Service is quick and efficient and your old standby favorites seem to be better than most. We had the worst experience here last night, we placed a curbside order at 6:15pm and waited almost 18 minutes, i decided to go to drive through to see what was going on, they acted like they had no idea what was going on, asked what was in my order and parked me beside the building to wait again for another 15 minutes! When you have a toddler you end up at McDonalds from time to time. Very clean location, quick service and I like that there is a TV in the dining area. Their service was OK, nothing special, but what you would expect at a fast food restaurant. If you have a hungry kid and need something fast this place fits the bill. read more

One time my hot chocolate had bleach in it!!! I was told that the cleaning solvent wasn't rinsed out of the machine proir to making my drink (they didn't notice the color was wrong for hot chocolate). Another time the floor in the dining room was so slippery that I almost fell down (got a lame excuse why it was that way and why it couldn't be fixed). From as little as no onions to mustard, ketchup and pickle only...they will get it wrong. Finally at 4:40 the women comes out with our food, and my mom said, "That was twenty minutes" and with an ATTITUDE the worker says, "Yeah well it was the fish" and walks away. So, my mom went in and said, "That was rude" and I go in and say, "This is the fourth time this has happened to us at this particular mcdonald's" and all four girls say, "Yeah well it was the fish" or "Wellit was the fries". 1. If you're going to work at a place that deals with people then be nice and don't be rude. 2. You're called a fast food restaurant but you aren't making your food fast All i'm saying is that they're slow and terrible. The workers are rude and don't care about anyone except for themselves. Also, this was a forty year old women who needs to grow up and learn how to be mature in a work place, even if it's Mcdonald's, learn how to act. I need to disagree with a prior reviewer who recently reviewed this place. It is the WORST McDonald's in the area, we went here about 4 times in the last year so we know. It's close to home and when starving we went. It gets worse and worse every time. The food is overcooked, the place is dirty, there is annoying country music BLASTING, which makes us hightail it out of there asap, and they just don't care. Filthy tables when the place is always empty, and last time we went our Angus burgers were way overcooked and thrown together, probably left over from hours ago and reheated, and with stale buns. We will never go back. The one in VERNON is GREAT, organized, clean, the food is always decent, GO THERE if you want McDonald's. Avoid the Ellington one at all costs, you'll be glad you did. read more

First of all, I know not to expect great coffee at McDonald's but it was convenient. My mistake. I requested a large hot latte off the McCafe menu. The woman taking my order had some real trouble with the latte request in general. Maybe didn't know what it is? Then I received said latte, for which I paid a premium because I wanted a latte, not just a coffee. It is large. It does appear to have skim milk. It is far from hot. This is pretty standard for this location to frequently get orders wrong and one of the reasons I usually bypass it despite the convenient location. I don't normally go to McDonald's because it's poison but it's the weekend and sometimes you gotta live a little. It was a long hard week at work and my wife and I didn't have time to go shopping so we had nothing for breakfast on this Saturday morning. We decided to go to Mcdonalds for a quick breakfast. When I get there there's a handwritten sign over the drive thru screen which read "Computer problems open at 7 Mtg". It's 6:54am and I hear "welcome to McDonald's, how can I help you?" I give my order assuming their system is back up and they just hadn't removed the sign yet. They tell me to drive up to the second window. After I drive up to the second window I hand them my credit card. They say "I'm sorry, do you have any cash?" I say no. Who carries cash these days? Maybe if you can only take cash you should let your customers know before they place an order, don't ya think? On the seldom occasion we do go to this store there is always a problem.
