Not a good experience. Restaurant was noticeably dirty, staff was rude and the food didn't taste like normal McDonald's.

It was a little bit tricky do drive there since the main road shown on our GPS was closed for construction. However, when we called, a lady named Maggie patiently guided us through a detour and we were able to have dinner with excellent service and delicious food! The restaurant is casual and located on the community golf course. There was ample parking for our 26' RV, even with the Saturday night golf crowd there! The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees. We chose the special coconut shrimp with house made berry sauce and the chicken fried steak. Both dinners came with a trip to the salad bar, a serving of vegetables (fresh green beans) and aside dish (we chose baked potatoes and mashed potatoes.) The salad bar had above selection of super fresh mixed lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, beets, grated cheese, potato salad, cottage cheese, sunflower seeds, bacon bits and croutons. There were at least 8 different salad dressings too! All the food was well prepared and the chicken fried steak was breaded in-house and mashed potatoes were real (not instant!) We enjoyed the fresh iced tea and sweet tea although the restaurant had a full bar available too. The servers worked as a team and always kept our drinks replenished. The entire staff was helpful and friendly which made our experience really nice!

Preface: I'm a very eccentric individual, and I enjoy simple things in life. My review will be…read morebased mostly on that fact alone. However, other notable details relate to the business side of things rather than pleasure. As a traveler, I have encountered many hotels of different style and experience. Lots that are uniform in pattern, lots that boast comfort but beds feel like Tiggers tail instead, most with the similar appeal of get in, get out. Today I've checked into the Hotel Labonte. I'm literally passing though here on my way home, so I dont need lavish things or experience. Prior to check in, I was overwhelmed by the typical motel/hotel options. Some that were too expensive for just a few hours of sleep, most I've decided to never do business with again, and some with OKAY reviews. What drew me to this hotel was the antiquated appeal. This place has history. I love history. With just a few reviews to go off of, I wasn't super sold. So I did some research on the hotel. Found some pictures. My interest; peaked. I decided to book. It's very quiet, maybe because it's still early, but I like that. The rooms are locked with actual keys, no key card that gets deactivated by your phone!! The overall appeal of the hotel is great, the cleanliness is impressive. But the selling point are the rooms. Each is different, I saw 3, my own included. The decor, the bedding, the layout, i find it very comforting. The rooms are VERY clean. I'm a clean freak and for once, I am not grossed out or picky about how the room was cleaned. The bathroom in my room is small. Basically like a guest bathroom, but with a tub. However, despite the size, I dont feel overwhelmed or claustrophobic. Because this place is so old, an initial concern of mine was water pressure. Nothing is more disappointing to me than longing for a hot shower and finding out the water is a sad trickle. To my shock, the water pressure is perfect! The best shower I've taken outside of my own at home. The rooms include: a TV, a microwave, a wardrobe, nightstand, and of course the bed. Now let's speak of the bed: definitely a surprise!!!! It's so soft and comfortable, I will have no issue falling asleep FAST. I've stayed in hotels with more popularity, and their beds do not compare. Ultimately, I am THRILLED with my stay. This hotel has a wonderful "homey" feel, and I LOVE it. To be completely honest, I am sad I'm not staying for more than a day. I would like to experience more so I can review but from what I have experienced, I cant help but rave about this place! 10/10, would HIGHLY recommend.

First and foremost.. this place is a hidden gem. It looks like a typical bar/slots casino but when…read moreyou actually look at the menu it's clear that it's an Indian food restaurant . I often try different food from all over since I actively travel for work and I will say this place is really good and a great place to try if you're in the Douglas area. I've had the hot wings, steak, butter chicken, chicken tiki masala, chicken curry and my favorite the Lamb Korma. All his food is cooked fresh, meat is bought locally and cleaned fresh. Mr Garry the guy who runs the place will come ask about the quality of food to make sure you're happy. As you speak with him you can sense his passion for the quality of his food. And he is very easy to talk to while being one of the friendliest guys you can meet. The Lamb Korma! The portions are perfectly sized per meal and I definitely recommend the garlic naan! The match up for the whole meal is top tier! If you're new to Indian food just talk with Garry and he can help you out to make sure you're happy with your choice. Now that I have tried this place it has become one of my favorite restaurants to eat!

We got the chicken masala and garlic naan. The chicken masala was excellent; the sauce was perfect and the chicken was high-quality. They prepare their naan in a way that's different than any place we've tried, it has a little bit of a light crunch and soft inside. We are from the Bay Area and we eat Indian food all the time and I would rank this place among the top places I've tried in the Bay Area. They have to appeal to a broad audience, so they have things like jalapeño poppers, and mozzarella sticks on the menu. We also got the jalapeño poppers and they were pretty good - nice crunch and you can tell the fryer oil was really clean. The owner came out and made my wife a nonalcoholic drink with mango and mint and it was really good as well. He was a nice personable guy that really seems to care about his customers. If you're in or near Douglas give this place a shot. You can have a meal and then play some darts or pool.

For starts: I sat at the bar where the waitress took a significant amount of time before acknowledging I was there even tho the eye contact was made. But 10 min after sitting at the bar she finally asked me what I would like to drink. She then offered a menu in which I ordered the "Peppercorn Ribeye prepared Medium rare and a side of veggies". And she gave me my Water. 20 minutes go by with an empty glass and no food has arrived. I don't know if it was because I wasn't drinking a alcoholic beverage but her service was terrible please note, there was 2 other people at the bar which were clearly regulars as their conversations took majority of her attention and time. When I received my meal the steak was very poorly cooked and what I mean by that is the steak was well done and equivalent to a 12oz piece of gristle. I brought it up to the bar tender that the meal was not good at all. I did however eat the veggies which was the best part of the meal. Her manager came up and quickly said she will give me a 20% discount on my meal. I did not hear from anyone after that for another 30 min until I stood up. Put my coat on and was about to just leave. The bartender finally came back and handed me my check. In which my meal after tip (yes I still tipped 20%) was $40. So that being said I paid $40 for a small saucer of veggies because I didn't even eat the steak. Unfortunately from what people all over the Douglas area says is that the Derby has probably the worst steak in Town, I can understand the one off meal but the service is by far sub par and management should consider teaching their bartenders/servers that excellent service get customers to come back.

I really wanted a breakfast burrito smothered in Green Chili. This was my main goal. It had pork carnitas, pico, sour cream, potatoes, tomatoes and peppers, and lots of cheese. Here is where it went south. The chili was red(even receipt said green chili). I was hoping for a good spicy green chili like they do in this part of the country. The red Chile was bland, the carnitas were skimpy. Over all it was very bland. Even the jalapenos were bland with no heat. It was huge but who wants to eat a lot of bland food. Got ice tea and it had like 5 cubes of ice. If you are a senior citizen who avoids seasoned food this might be your place. I'd avoid though otherwise. I didn't try their pies but I was impressed by the variety.
