I found this very unique restaurant out of desperation. I was in town working and had worked late.....on a Sunday no less. This meant my options to eat ANYTHING were severely limited. Thank God they were open. Because I really didn't want to chance McDs or 10pm gas station gut grenades. To start with the ambiance and decor is crazy cool. It's made up of multiple buildings connected over probably more than a century. One of the girls there told me originally the building was the first grocery store in Wyoming. When you walk in there is an old dinner vibe with a counter to the left and both seating to the right. There's multiple additions in the back that I think include a casino but I'm not quite sure. To the far left is a really cool old school ice cream shop. I was really tired when I came in so I just walked right up to the diner bar and grabbed a menu. I didn't notice at first but this is still a smoking restaurant. Well, as I'm looking at the menu I notice, the waitresses are chain smoking, the other customers are chain smoking. And as an ex smoker, I think they have that right. I just wish it weren't up front. They may have had a non-smoking section but did I mention I was really tired? So I just sucked it up. I ordered a Spanish omelet with hashbrowns and toast. It was good, solid but typical diner food. Not spectacular or anything but good. Great building to check out, decent food and open late in Douglas WY. What more could you ask for?

Great hospitality! Delicious food! We will definitely be back. Rocky Mountain Oysters are the best I've ever had!

Chili cheese dogs , onion rings

At first glance the food looks very simple , but these chili cheese dogs were the best I've ever had. It was the perfect combo of fresh onion, savory chili on a delicious bun. The hot dog itself was bursting full of flavor. Don't forget to try their Onion rings too. The food was hot and fast. You can tell someone took a lot of pride in making me this delicious meal! My husband got the supreme nachos and he said they were very, very good. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try them before they disappeared!

A must stop when you're in Douglas! The rich history, good food, and great people make this a fun meal.

For starts: I sat at the bar where the waitress took a significant amount of time before acknowledging I was there even tho the eye contact was made. But 10 min after sitting at the bar she finally asked me what I would like to drink. She then offered a menu in which I ordered the "Peppercorn Ribeye prepared Medium rare and a side of veggies". And she gave me my Water. 20 minutes go by with an empty glass and no food has arrived. I don't know if it was because I wasn't drinking a alcoholic beverage but her service was terrible please note, there was 2 other people at the bar which were clearly regulars as their conversations took majority of her attention and time. When I received my meal the steak was very poorly cooked and what I mean by that is the steak was well done and equivalent to a 12oz piece of gristle. I brought it up to the bar tender that the meal was not good at all. I did however eat the veggies which was the best part of the meal. Her manager came up and quickly said she will give me a 20% discount on my meal. I did not hear from anyone after that for another 30 min until I stood up. Put my coat on and was about to just leave. The bartender finally came back and handed me my check. In which my meal after tip (yes I still tipped 20%) was $40. So that being said I paid $40 for a small saucer of veggies because I didn't even eat the steak. Unfortunately from what people all over the Douglas area says is that the Derby has probably the worst steak in Town, I can understand the one off meal but the service is by far sub par and management should consider teaching their bartenders/servers that excellent service get customers to come back.

Preface: I'm a very eccentric individual, and I enjoy simple things in life. My review will be…read morebased mostly on that fact alone. However, other notable details relate to the business side of things rather than pleasure. As a traveler, I have encountered many hotels of different style and experience. Lots that are uniform in pattern, lots that boast comfort but beds feel like Tiggers tail instead, most with the similar appeal of get in, get out. Today I've checked into the Hotel Labonte. I'm literally passing though here on my way home, so I dont need lavish things or experience. Prior to check in, I was overwhelmed by the typical motel/hotel options. Some that were too expensive for just a few hours of sleep, most I've decided to never do business with again, and some with OKAY reviews. What drew me to this hotel was the antiquated appeal. This place has history. I love history. With just a few reviews to go off of, I wasn't super sold. So I did some research on the hotel. Found some pictures. My interest; peaked. I decided to book. It's very quiet, maybe because it's still early, but I like that. The rooms are locked with actual keys, no key card that gets deactivated by your phone!! The overall appeal of the hotel is great, the cleanliness is impressive. But the selling point are the rooms. Each is different, I saw 3, my own included. The decor, the bedding, the layout, i find it very comforting. The rooms are VERY clean. I'm a clean freak and for once, I am not grossed out or picky about how the room was cleaned. The bathroom in my room is small. Basically like a guest bathroom, but with a tub. However, despite the size, I dont feel overwhelmed or claustrophobic. Because this place is so old, an initial concern of mine was water pressure. Nothing is more disappointing to me than longing for a hot shower and finding out the water is a sad trickle. To my shock, the water pressure is perfect! The best shower I've taken outside of my own at home. The rooms include: a TV, a microwave, a wardrobe, nightstand, and of course the bed. Now let's speak of the bed: definitely a surprise!!!! It's so soft and comfortable, I will have no issue falling asleep FAST. I've stayed in hotels with more popularity, and their beds do not compare. Ultimately, I am THRILLED with my stay. This hotel has a wonderful "homey" feel, and I LOVE it. To be completely honest, I am sad I'm not staying for more than a day. I would like to experience more so I can review but from what I have experienced, I cant help but rave about this place! 10/10, would HIGHLY recommend.

To me, the Horchata was super sweet, but it was a good counterpoint to the fries. But oh my gosh, these fries...... Thin crispy fries, piled on the plate with guacamole, pico, cheese, Carnitas (you have a choice of meats), and sour cream drizzled on top. They also brought three varieties of hot sauce, which I tasted (all good), but did not actually put on my fries (didn't feel like it needed it). The Carnitas was delicious and tender, the fries were perfect, and there were generous helpings of guacamole, pico and cheese distributed pretty evenly over it all. This thing was huge. Enough for two people. But did I eat it all by myself? Yes, I did. Almost all of it. I didn't want any of it to go to waste! Service was fast and friendly, the whole place, including the bathroom, was clean and I would definitely stop there again if in the area.

First, after looking at my receipt (in my email afterwards since I was only shown a total on the screen when paying at the table) I saw that all 3 of our food items rang up higher than the listed prices in the menu. The menu literally starts describing it as "no meat" but afterwards I felt sick to my stomach all day. I looked through the Yelp reviews and someone else said the refried beans have lard in them (pork product). I wanted to fact check so called the restaurant and sure enough there's *bleeping* lard in the refried beans!! Ugh I'm so upset!!
