Well I didn't take any pictures of the food. But I will say that I will not be returning to this restaurant. For starts: I sat at the bar where the waitress took a significant amount of time before acknowledging I was there even tho the eye contact was made. But 10 min after sitting at the bar she finally asked me what I would like to drink. She then offered a menu in which I ordered the "Peppercorn Ribeye prepared Medium rare and a side of veggies". And she gave me my Water. 20 minutes go by with an empty glass and no food has arrived. I don't know if it was because I wasn't drinking a alcoholic beverage but her service was terrible please note, there was 2 other people at the bar which were clearly regulars as their conversations took majority of her attention and time. When I received my meal the steak was very poorly cooked and what I mean by that is the steak was well done and equivalent to a 12oz piece of gristle. I brought it up to the bar tender that the meal was not good at all. I did however eat the veggies which was the best part of the meal. Her manager came up and quickly said she will give me a 20% discount on my meal. I did not hear from anyone after that for another 30 min until I stood up. Put my coat on and was about to just leave. The bartender finally came back and handed me my check. In which my meal after tip (yes I still tipped 20%) was $40. So that being said I paid $40 for a small saucer of veggies because I didn't even eat the steak. Unfortunately from what people all over the Douglas area says is that the Derby has probably the worst steak in Town, I can understand the one off meal but the service is by far sub par and management should consider teaching their bartenders/servers that excellent service get customers to come back. read more

Don't even know where to start hour wait for a prime rib Philly. That's the best joke ever, one hour later and freezer burnt steak-umms on a bun. We had lunch here today, this place really looks great when you walk in, different than any other place in Douglas for sure! We were greeted promptly and sat at a booth, here is some pros and cons from our experience. Pros: Great service! Cons: We had the salad bar but there is no meat, no chicken or anything and at $14 each thats way overpriced. We ordered a steak medium rare, it came way well cooked. The seats in the booths are too low to the to table top so the experience is uncomfortable. Now you might say that it is minor details, however if you want to charge fine dining prices, all the details of the experience matters. We would try to go back for dinner. read more

This place fills a need for a place where oil and coal workers can spend their money. The building is great, inside and out. The service was average. I personally found the food average and a little over priced. Very possible that the prices are in line with what is available in Douglas. The steak and shrimp brunette was bland and barely warm. It was cooked to medium as I requested and I was warned that it was hot, but it was not. Fillet and shrimp are bland to begin with so seasoning is important. Although there was a lot of caked on seasoning visible it did little to add to the dish. The heavy herb seasoning also did not look appealing. Other that the presentation was good. The broccoli was the highlight being warm and still crisp with a hint of lemon. One can get a more flavorful steak for less at a chain like Texas Roadhouse but an option like that does not exist in Douglas. read more

I've been to Douglas, Wyoming at leafy annually since 1986. Without exception, I have never had a dinner that could be scored at more than average. Poorest restaurant town in the west. Tonight's dinner at Ranahan's was good in many ways: attractive venue, excellent wait staff, nice salad bar, decent prices, huge quantities of beef, all good. Had to send my first steak back. The waitstaff was completely understanding and graceful. Second steak was just as ordered, rare plus. The only two concerns I offer is that a better grade of beef be supplied. Secondly, waaaay too much garlic in the butter on the steak. Overwhelming. Maybe my cut of beef was just an aberration. Will be back and try your steaks again. Good job! Stopped here yesterday to conduct some business. Sebastian and Amber were behind the bar. Sebastian predominantly provided me service, but Amber came in later and was equally awesome. After seeing prosciutto-wrapped Brie, we were sold. We drove to Douglas and were unexpectedly surprised and delighted to have such a good restaurant in Douglas. The drink selection was great and tasted as good too! Prosciutto-wrapped Brie did not disappoint, salad bar had an excellent variety, and the steaks were perfectly done, tender juicy pieces of heaven in my mouth. While visiting family here we went for a special dinner here. The restaurant was beautiful, the staff was welcoming and attentive and the food was fantastic. My mom and I were both looking forward to the salad bar and weren't disappointed! While I only wished they had blue cheese crumbles, the salad bar and accompanying bread bar were fantastic. My step-dad says they have the best steaks but chose to try the green Chile shrimp and grits and almost licked the plate clean. We came to camp at Glendo for the weekend and drove into Douglas for dinner and movies to rent. We did searches for the best steakhouse in the area to eat at and some how I came across Ranahan Steakhouse, and boy I'm glad I found it. The food and drinks were really good , and the service was excellent considering the pandemic and nobody wants to work to fill positions. Marie and Dezi were excellent with their service and they took the time to be engaging. For the folks that left any bad reviews, I have to say that there is always that sour personality that just can't be pleased. Ranahan Steakhouse is worth the stop in to eat. We are coming back tomorrow morning for the Sunday brunch because the menu looked that good! I'll post pictures of brunch tomorrow. As I stated last night, we came back to have the Sunday brunch and it was phenomenal! There we're so many choices! There was a caving station with prime rib and smoked salmon, and two other stations with a ton of delicious options. There was again the incredible salad bar with most amazing beets you could ever eat. There was a huge assortment of breads and muffins on the bread bar, and to top it all off, there was an ice cream bar! The food again was really great and the staff was so friendly. I pretty much had conversation with a large part of the staff who I was so nice and personable. I enjoyed this place so much, I will be coming back for dinner and say hello from Frederick often, and no I am not an owner of the restaurant and nobody asked me to post any of my thoughts on my review! Really nice on the inside great folks to help you enjoy your meal. The salad bar was very nice coming out of the COVID crap. The bread bar was also a hit. The down fall was the food a 35 dollar steak should not be paper thin and gristly hard to eat. My wife had a cheese broccoli app which was hard to eat since it was served almost on the stalk, hard to dissect. The parm potatoes lumpy but still good to eat. Seen some other entrees that looked good. So stay away from the rib eye steak. Will try it again since it is on a learning curve. read more

We drove from Casper and dined in tonight for the first time. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 kids. We used the online reservation system and our table was ready when we arrived. The salad bar and bread bar were both amazing. Tons of things to choose from to make a yummy salad. We ordered ribs, prime rib, kids steak, and chicken fried steak. With salad bar we didn't order one meal per person and we still took soooo much home. The portions were hungry man portions. We splurged and ordered the brownie bottom pie and ice cream for dessert. It really was a perfect end to a perfect meal. We also had great service from the hostess, to server, to the manager helping pick up dishes and fill drinks. Beautiful restaurant and great service. Had the Sunday brunch and we were not disappointed. The omelette was crape like, savory with just right amount of fillings custom ordered and cooked on the spot. The prime rib beef and pulled pork were moist, flavorful and fork tender. The side dishes were all done to perfection from the baked beans to the ancient grains salad. The salad bar was fresh, clean with a lot of great choices. The ice cream bar had a choice of two flavors and several toppings. Pricey, but what good meal these days isn't. So...I am from out of town but was in Douglas for a training. Absolutely loved this place. Amber took care of me at the bar, made a lovely (and strong) Old Fashioned, had the rib-eye and asparagus, Ranchers cake for dessert. Ribeye was delicious, asparagus grilled and tasty. My least fav was the dessert- but it wasn't bad, just not as good as the drink and steak. I would definitely come here again! I wish I could give 4.5 stars! read more

Service were good. Food was fair. But, we were sitting at the bar. We asked to change the tv channel to the fifth game of the Stanley Cup. For 20 minutes we waited as two other patrons asked for the same hockey game. Nothing. Then we were told the others in the games section would have to change channel. Another 10 minutes, the channel was changed to the MLB game! Not the same. Would not change channel because they had a money count issue. I am a CPA and getting a money count correct is important but not more important than clamoring customers. We did not place any further food orders and left in disgust. Overnight stop in Douglas Wyoming after 11 hour drive. The usual place we eat at did not survive the pandemic, desk clerk at motel recommended we try Ranahan Steakhouse. Turned out to be a very good recommendation. Nice, new, locally owned establishment with an excellent menu. Started off with the fried green tomatoes; well seasoned lightly battered with corn meal and fried golden brown, nice crunch on the outside, tender, "meaty", tasty inside--just super well executed. My daughter enjoyed the chopped beef steak tacos, packed with flavorful thinly sliced beef and served with an outstanding, slightly chunky fresh tomatillo salsa. Wife ordered herb roasted chicken and broccoli Alfredo. Good portion of well seasoned herb crusted chicken on a bed of pasta. The Alfredo sauce was a little on the thin/loose side of where it should have been. My New York stripe steak was perfectly cooked as I like it (rare), excellent grill marks, tender, well trimmed beef that did not disappoint. Side dish was the roasted zucchini and tomatoes, again excellently prepared, zucchini still slightly crunchy and overall nicely spiced on the zesty side, very much to my liking. The old style walk up, help yourself salad bar was fabulous. I normally include photos but we were famished and fell onto our dinners before I could snap photos. Photos already on Yelp well represent what we enjoyed. Our server was outstanding , Andrea should be commended; friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without hovering. So why only 3-star rating....? Well, on duty manager or owner (Becky) completely ignored our table (#7), never made eye contact, never checked on our service/satisfaction, never greeted or acknowledged us in any manner. However she checked on, visited with, conversed with all four tables surrounding our table. She was present through out the dining room and seemed to do well everywhere else--we were somehow invisible. This place serves excellent food, is nicely appointed, is well staffed (not always the case these post-pandemic days) but tonight the management let the rest of the team/the place down from our invisible perspective. read more

We chose the Ranahan Steakhouse for dinner as we were passing through Douglas. Our experience was OUTSTANDING!! The ambience is beautiful, linen napkins, logoed wine glasses with wine decanted at your table. The salad bar was the best we have had ( even pre CoVid). The servings are generous and delicious......I had French Dip sandwich served with a candle heated au jus sauce. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced.
