If you're a fan of food that tastes like it's practicing social distancing from seasoning, congratulations--you've found your soulmate. We walked in and were told to seat ourselves, which felt a little like being released into a corn maze. The restaurant is chopped into secret rooms you can't see from the entrance, so after poking my head around like a confused meerkat, we gave up and parked ourselves by the front door. It was busy, though I suspect that's due to long-standing loyalty and not a sudden outbreak of taste buds. The waiter greeted us with, "Do you need menus?" No sir, we brought our own crystal ball. Yes, we need menus--we've never been here. The options included tacos, burritos, tostadas, and--mysteriously--a deep-fried hotdog, which felt like it wandered in from a county fair and refused to leave. We ordered the pork chili smothered burritos. When mine arrived, I finished it in under eight bites--new personal record. For $6 I expected a burrito, not a participation trophy. They've clearly built a devoted following of people who enjoy food on mute, so they probably won't notice us slipping away. We wish them well--and if you enjoy culinary adventures in the land of bland, this might be your happy place.

I don't get it…read more Douglas Club, located on the local golf course, must be one of those hit or miss places. I think my visit was during the "miss". First, the employees are great. Nice, but somewhat scattered. Maybe it's because it was late in the day and they'd been working the entire day, but I don't think they were all-there. The food was also hit or miss. The salad was outstanding. The steak, although cooked as I asked, was a day shy of being "bad", and I don't mean aged -- or rather it was not aged in a positive way. It was really bad. As long as I ate around the edges, it was tolerable, but I left most of it behind. It's a shame, really, because all the other guests seem to be enjoying their meals, but again, maybe because I came at the end of a shift and the kitchen staff had just given up. I might try again one day, but then again, maybe not. It was just that underwhelming.

Renee recommended the grilled salmon wrap with sweet potato fries (no sugar), which 4 of us had and absolutely loved. The gluten free tortilla wraps were some of the best gluten free substitutes we've had. The hot honey chicken sandwich also received high marks, and the homemade chips are worth an honorable mention. Keep up the great work, Douglas Club.
