Wow! This place truly nails it with quality food at a decent price and backed up by amazing service and in a spotless establishment! This gem is down by the tracks in Douglas and very much worth the stop (so much so, we will make it a point when going through Douglas to make sure we stop for a meal!). What a great place! My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner on our way through and were absolutely shocked by what we encountered! My boyfriend grew up in Douglas and has family that still lives here so we normally don't go out to eat much. However, the ribs were the special and they had sauces I've never heard of before.... Carolina honey and cowboy candy. SO good! The ribs were cooked perfectly and our waiter, Daniel, was superb!! Tucked in an off-the-hwy almost an alley location, was a delightful surprise on our Friday night, a very busy place, almost a full house, yet quiet atmosphere. Waitresses very busy, but attentive to our needs. Ordered a Ribeye steak with 2 side salads to share for 2. Food came in a very reasonable time. Steak was cooked as ordered- medium well. I want to start off by saying that the service was fantastic. We were seated pretty quickly for the number of customers waiting for a table. Daniel was our server and was very efficient and friendly. We really wanted to like this place more. Cute building that I am assuming used to be an actual train depot. Our issue was the food wasn't that great. We would possibly try this again the next time in Douglas but just order something different. Just a few suggestions... Less dressing on the Southwest salad. The flavor was good but the amount of dressing made the lettuce soggy. Less maple syrup on the sweet potato fries. They were good but too sticky and drippy. Instead of a frozen beef patty for the burgers, use fresh ground beef. Definitely lots of potential here. My iced tea with peach schnapps was excellent! read more

The Depot Restaurant provided an exceptional dinning experience. Their pulled pork sandwich was served in a generous portion size and had a very flavorful light smokey taste. The side salad with balsamic dressing (yum) was made of fresh lettuce and other fixings. The most satisfying meal was finished with peach cobbler with a large scoop of rich vanilla bean ice cream. The Depot Restaurant cares about food and how it is presented. Atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and inviting. The bathroom was very clean with a fresh supply of soap. I first saw some reviews and pics of the Trainwreck Burger and then some coworkers told me I had to try it so I did. Let me tell you, if you're hungry..... no, make that hangry, you need to go to the Depot in Douglas and order yourself The Trainwreck! It's a half pound hand made patty with your choice of 2 cheeses (I picked pepper jack and gouda), bacon, grilled & raw onions, lettuce, tomato, bbq says and mayo.... pretty sure I'm forgetting something... but who cares. They'll make it any way you like it. I suggest you get the maple glazed sweet potato fries. I did and I ain't even mad about it. They were just as good as the burger. Everything needs to be put into perspective. Considering that this is a smaller restaurant in the quaint town of Douglas, it is pretty good. The Reuben I got was decent and moderately priced. The depot was the first restaurant we ate at in our time up in Douglas. It's cool because it seems to be in an old train depot, and they have a nice outdoor patio out back! Our server was excellent although very busy and it took awhile to get helped but that didn't bother us. We just drank and enjoyed the nice day. My mom really didn't like her sandwich hence the reason for the 4 instead of my usual 5 I give, but my food was decent. I'd go back if I'm ever in town again for sure :) read more

Now you see here? This is the kind of place you like to happen upon when roadtripping. The wife and I flew into Denver and stopped here on our way to Casper when It popped up on Yelp as I was looking for a place to eat. Located by a train track in a little bitty one horse town and the place was packed. Could've been local dinner time or maybe because the Wyoming state fair was going on but either way, it was full. Always a good sign. This first thing that caught my eye was the one thing I was making a point to try on this trip: Rocky Mountain Oysters. I asked the young lady waiting on us what it tasted like and told her not to tell me "it tastes like chicken". It may be fried like chicken but theres no way the texture could be like chicken; it's hawg balls, for Pete's sake! She told me politely to just try them. So I did. Now, I ate almost all of the plate and it didn't taste bad, but I don't think I'll be sitting around anytime soon thinking "Man, I sure could go for some pig testicles". Aaaaaaannyway, for the entree, since I was full on the..........appetizer, I ordered a Turkey club on rye with fries. Really good sandwich and big enough that I took half with me. The wife ordered the BLT on sourdough and was really impressed. That's about it. Good food, cold beer, nice friendly waitstaff. What more do you need. Food is good. BUT!!!!! So, we sit down at the bar area and we're waiting.... And waiting..... some guy sits down next to us and a waitress delivers to him a menu and water, etc.... We voice a complaint that we'd been sitting for almost ten minutes and had NO SERVICE. Meantime AT THIS SAME BAR the owner and wife(?) were sitting a mere two seats away(taking up valuable ...money making bar stools....). They saw us and knew we had been waiting. They even suggested menu items to us while we waited. STILL NO SERVICE!!!! When the dude sits down next to us and gets service immediately, we made a bit of a stink. So, the owner who had been sitting at this bar the entire time and had seen how long we'd been sitting there with no help finally came over to offer a free round of drinks. Beautiful court yard area in front but not covered so potentially very hot. Nice back patio but it could use a little TLC. I do wish the place to have more bathrooms for bigger crowds and also it would be nice to have a taller waiter but short people are still cool... I guess.
