Mr Garry the guy who runs the place will come ask about the quality of food to make sure you're happy. As you speak with him you can sense his passion for the quality of his food. For starts: I sat at the bar where the waitress took a significant amount of time before acknowledging I was there even tho the eye contact was made. But 10 min after sitting at the bar she finally asked me what I would like to drink. She then offered a menu in which I ordered the "Peppercorn Ribeye prepared Medium rare and a side of veggies". And she gave me my Water. 20 minutes go by with an empty glass and no food has arrived. I don't know if it was because I wasn't drinking a alcoholic beverage but her service was terrible please note, there was 2 other people at the bar which were clearly regulars as their conversations took majority of her attention and time. When I received my meal the steak was very poorly cooked and what I mean by that is the steak was well done and equivalent to a 12oz piece of gristle. I brought it up to the bar tender that the meal was not good at all. I did however eat the veggies which was the best part of the meal. Her manager came up and quickly said she will give me a 20% discount on my meal. I did not hear from anyone after that for another 30 min until I stood up. Put my coat on and was about to just leave. The bartender finally came back and handed me my check. In which my meal after tip (yes I still tipped 20%) was $40. So that being said I paid $40 for a small saucer of veggies because I didn't even eat the steak. Unfortunately from what people all over the Douglas area says is that the Derby has probably the worst steak in Town, I can understand the one off meal but the service is by far sub par and management should consider teaching their bartenders/servers that excellent service get customers to come back.

The room was noticeably hotter than the rest of the restaurant. Service was a touch slow as they only assigned one server to our group. Which was weird. We had to serve our own win a few times. One salad showed up notably later than everyone else's appetizers. I had the French onion soup which is not salty (a common issue with many Steakhouse French onion soups). We are standing at the podium with the "please wait to be seated sign" and two servers are chatting near the kitchen the entire time, one server (female) is chatting with a table of men and another is near the restroom on her phone. None of these four individuals even looked up at us. Another couple came in at minute 3. No response from staff. A third couple came in at minute 5. Here is where it went south. The chili was red(even receipt said green chili). I was hoping for a good spicy green chili like they do in this part of the country. The red Chile was bland, the carnitas were skimpy. Over all it was very bland. Even the jalapenos were bland with no heat. It was huge but who wants to eat a lot of bland food. Got ice tea and it had like 5 cubes of ice. If you are a senior citizen who avoids seasoned food this might be your place. I'd avoid though otherwise. I didn't try their pies but I was impressed by the variety.
