Average service, initially nice employees. Then I asked for cup of water w/ice but was told there were no refills (which I guess I can understand, tho very odd for McDonald's) but then she explained they gave no free water or ice and would have to pay for another drink. I explained I was given very little ice without asking for it in my drink and just wanted to add it to make my drink cold. Nope was the answer, unless I paid for another drink. Went through the drive thru to order, screen wasn't on, no one welcomed us as we pulled up. I had to ask if anyone was there or do I pull up and finally someone came on the radio. Put in order, everything was hot and fresh when I grabbed it from the pickup up window. read more

I have never heard of this restaurant, but it seems to be very popular with the locals! I am new to this country, and I was desperate to try the food that Americans love most: the hamburger! I stumbled on this little known gem in Barstow on the way to Las Vegas. First of all, this was a first class dining experience. The service was amazingly quick. The lady at the desk spoke so fast and brushed me aside as soon as I paid; such efficiency! The clerks then yelled out our order numbers in rapid succession, and I got my food in no time. I ordered the cheeseburger, chicken pieces in "nugget" form, and an apple pie bar. The burger was delicious; you could tell they use fresh ingredients that weren't just in the freezer for months and then microwaved. Meat was hot, and the cheese tasted exactly like a Kraft Single! The chicken nuggets were also exquisite; I've never had chicken that tasted quite like this before...must be the unique method they pioneered to fry their food! The apple bar was very sugary and crumbled the moment you touched it, just like how real apple pie is supposed to be (I think). But the best part of it is that I got this entire great meal for under $10! What a steal! Nobody can beat that price value. The food is fantastic, but what separates this place from every other restaurant is the environment. There is a vibrant energy in the air as exhausted tourists, overweight elderly, and screaming children alike all bond together over this shared atmosphere. Did I mention that there is a tall clown that pervades all of their merchandising efforts? I believe his name is Donald the Clown. He exudes a positive and optimistic attitude, which has a contagious effect on the customers. I was so overwhelmed by joy that I decided to go into the playhouse outside; there was a ballpit that you could jump around in as well as tiny tubes that you could spend hours getting lost in. Unfortunately, no other adults were playing that day, but I'd imagine it would be an absolute blast if the kids were restricted from this area. This truly is a one-of-a-kind eating establishment. It saddens me that people all around the world will never get to experience the fine cuisine that McDonald's has to offer. Worst McDonalds we've ever been to. Poor service, dirty. Had to use the Kiosk (which I hate!) to order and pay. Then found out no ice for the sodas. Asked to change to a coffee and a water and they wanted another 54 cents for the coffee, in exact change only! They were out of change! Cancelled the order. Got a refund, and went to Inn n Out across the freeway! Great service, great food and less cost. No more McDonalds for us. That manager needs to be written up ! read more

Come here all the time with my 3 year old. I would play with him in the play place usually just climb the steps so he can see me I never go in the tubes. To clostrophobic, I am to big anyway. I do understand the safety. Never had any issues before especially when no other kids are here. Today the manager wanted to be confrontational. Telling me I needed to come out That I was gonna break the equipment. The kids would have nothing to play on. I asked her what does her sign say. She said no that doesn't matter. I climb down point at her sign. I am not going to argue with you sir. Then she pulls the playplace is the area out side of the equipment, I ask it cause I'm a big. No sir how old are you. I tell her and responds with you are to old. . Please take time to look at pictures. She keeps talking , and because I like to have the last word. I concede to the situation because I couldn't stand another day inside with my stir crazy son. This place is the only place in barstow that has indoor play area. I asked for 2 double cheeseburgers and when I got them they were cheeseburgers so I told them I wanted double cheeseburgers. So they charged me for extra meat instead of re-ringing up me up I go to the next window and made sure it was corrected before getting my burgers. The girl at the window got an attitude with me stating they added the meat to my burger so I left fine and parked to make sure... seriously I opened them up to find extra meat like they said but what about my cheese, I went back in and told them once again, luckily the girl at the counter fixed it for me after the third time I requested.... This McDonalds surprised me in a good way. They were very friendly, they gave us extra sauces without being stingy and they gave us a ton of napkins. Came in 8pm on a Sunday. Usually don't eat fast food but had to stop by for a small bite real quick and bathroom break. Tables are dirty, soda machines are dirty. Employees standing behind the counter complaining about how long it is before its closing time. I feel for them because we all have those slow days but I mean COME ON. Barstow is an extremely popular stop for people traveling to Las Vegas, Arizona, etc. That being said, this McDonald's was definitely a high traffic location. We stopped here to pick up some food and use the restroom. The food was 5/5, but the bathroom was wrecked. It smelled horrendous even before walking in. I can't fully blame the management because I know a huge reason is due to how much foot traffic goes through this location. The food was great and came really quickly despite how many people there were in front of us. That McFlurry really got me through the remainder of the drive back home. My word of advice is to improve the upkeep of the restrooms. read more

This has to be the most frustrating McD's location I have ever been to. They don't honor the national menu specials, stating that this is a "franchise location" & "can offer what they choose." The dining room was out of ice, but there were 4 employees behind the counter discussing the new purse one of the ladies brought to work today. Short and rude when I asked for them to fill my cup with ice from the drive-thru. The ice was never filled by the time my kids were done playing in the play area. And the counters around the soda machine were dirty with old sticky soda. A lot of it. I guess the night crew doesn't clean up. And the opening crew doesn't either. Food is higher priced than the lake Havasu one The menu is displayed in such a way that one can't read it while bring asked to make a selection. The less expensive items that are being advertised to attract customers, are almost invisable and if one was not aware of the less expensive items they would never find it to order . The new layout is rigid and uninviting, done on purpose to keep patrons from staying longer than minimum. Why do you have servers bring food to the tables? I'll do it myself , keep the prices down instead . We rarely stop here, most times st in and out. After today it will be in and out 100% I'm not loving it PS The bathrooms are still old, outdated and ugly. Stopped by to get a bite to eat in our way home. Went to order and employee stated that they no longer take orders and that everybody needed to place their t order from the kiosks. So, the gentleman in front of me was elderly and told her he didn't know how to use it. She refused to take his order and made him go to the kiosk. It took me about 15 minutes to place our order trying to figure it out. If I wanted to me a employee of McDonald's I would apply. I get the kiosk but it should be a option to order with a employee if the customer wants. So, next time driving through Barstow it will be del taco or in and out. This is THE best McDonald's anywhere! We love stopping here while traveling, despite refusing to eat at other McDonald's regularly. The bathrooms are typically clean and the dining area inside is nicer and looks recently renovated. Every time we stop here, the fries are hot and our food is fresh. The apple pies seem different than at other McDonald's, like they're pretending to be artisanal or something. Delicious! read more

Our regular stop when we drive from Las Vegas to California. plenty of parking, large and clean restrooms, typically good and fast service. The dining room tables are sometimes dirty but I suspect that is because we came in right after a rush and the team has not yet caught up. Might be something the management might want to be aware of. Last month we were disappointed to find that the dining room was closed for some construction. We were forced to go across the freeway to stop at a nearby fast food competitor instead. It was awful. We hope that this McDonalds dining room will be open again when we make our next trip (this week). This is a nice clean, highly spacious location with extremely courteous helpers at the cashier lines. Food was made quickly, to order and tasted great. I had the side salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing with a filet of fish sandwich along with an ice cream cone for desert. Absolutely the worst McDonalds on Earth. Could not take an order. Messed up multiple times in all areas. Ran out of half of what we ordered. Did not have small buns and would not replace with other buns because it was 'too expensive', so we could not order a kids size burger. Terrible customer service. I would have paid for the bigger bun if given the option, but honestly, this post Covid world has customer service in the sewer. Workers just throw up their hands and say 'oh well'. I sympathize with places being out of things, it's the attitude and unwillingness to look outside of the very basic box that is getting quite old.
