I stopped into South Bend Harley-Davidson for a quick visit to pick up some shirts for my boys--they collect HD shirts from every state I travel to for work--and I'm so glad I chose this location! Dawn and Autumn were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment I walked in. What really impressed me was the huge variety of sizes and designs they had in stock. I had visited two other nearby dealerships--Sturgis, MI and Elkhart, IN--before coming here, and neither of them came close to the selection available at the South Bend store. Another huge plus: South Bend is part of the national Harley-Davidson points system, so when you check in and make purchases, you actually earn your points--something not all dealerships participate in. This is a big benefit for frequent travelers and collectors like us. Overall, the customer service here is outstanding, the selection is the best in the area, and Dawn and Autumn truly made the visit pleasant. I've bought 3 new Harleys from Mcdaniels over the years, would have been four if they would have had it in stock. I emailed service very early in the morning recently, Scott called me right after the store opened. Got my 96 Road King in same day and returned it in a timely manner looking absolutely gorgeous. May 8, 2019... I'm 73, ride a 2012 TriGlide, and needed a quick '10,000 mile service as I'm leaving on a 1600 mile trip. I've normally done my own services since 1962, but I now have limited strength and mobility issues. McDaniels scheduled me a service two days out, despite the fact they had a major publicity event scheduled that same day. On arrival, they literally flopped to the ground and examined the entire rig from the belly upwards. When 3 hours had expired, they'd completed the entire service check list, replaced filters lubricants and spark plugs, identified and fixed a developing oil pan seep, and then WASHED the rig for me. All work being done was explained, to keep me in the loop. I felt as though I was a member of the family when I rode out of their building. The price? Cheaper that having similar work performed on my Chevy Equinox for 3 hours. Quality? They found more issues than I was aware of, and fixed them when I ok'd it. I give it two stars only because the Parts Department is 5 star, but the Sales Staff make it a 2! Went to go buy a CVO Breakout. It was scratched all over. Told the Salesman about the scratches, he assured me it's just from the people touching it, will be perfect when I come to get it. I tell them I'll be back Friday morning to have it ready, I had to get to work, and I was gonna have my son drop me off so I could ride it to work. I stop in an hour before closing time on Thursday night and the bike was off the Showroom floor. I went and found it in parts department, motor still hot, 3 additional miles, and the scratches still in the bike. Ask the service guys and they said they knew nothing about buffing the scratches and that the bike was put there for me. I didn't say anything else and just left. Told my Wife about the experience and we decided not to buy it from them. The Salesman acted like a child over it, and tried to charge me a restocking fee on a part I didn't buy yet, and was already in stock. That was my WTF moment and I decided to never to go back again. I have purchased 2 Streetglides since at Hoosiers in Elkhart. But I will say again, the Parts Department is Top Notch! read more
