This park is AMAZING! Never beeen & didn't realize it existed until now- lived around there for 15 yrs. Geez! 2 completely separate entrances; 1 off Duluth Hwy that leads to the playground & a nice pavilion. 1 parking lot for that side. The other is behind the Jaguar dealership between Satellite Blvd & Pleasant Hill- Old Norcross. See pics to help see where it is. The Barn Pavilion is on the Old Norcross/Historic entrance. It is SO SO SO NICE!!! Renting the pavilion was not easy- called several times, no answer- finally got a woman who sounded like she was about to fall asleep. Good rental prices; in gwinnett & outside of gwinnett residents Can't wait to party 5/27/23 in the woods!

This is a nice family friendly park that has a bit of everything: a historic farm, paved trail, playground, clean bathrooms, pavilion, and deer sightings. It's beautiful in the fall when the trees change colors. That's when you will see plenty of family and engagement photography happen.

My go to park in Duluth, it's so beautiful. The park is full of luscious, green trees that provide a good amount of shade and there is a trail! The trail is more of a paved path than a hike but it's very well maintained and longer than I thought so you could easily spend an hour walking around the park enjoying the beautiful view. A perfect place to exercise or come for a picnic! Also great for biking, the path is concrete and very smooth. I also think it would be a good place for photo shoots because there is a farm house which could be a cool background on top of the foresty paths.

In Duluth, there are 2 great parks nearby. One is McDaniel Farm Park. It has 2 entrances. One is off of Old Norcross, which is the "easiest" one to get to. The other is inside some subdivision. If you want to see the farm, you should go in the Old Norcross location. If you want easy access to dog parks and the playground, you should do the other entrance. But it doesn't matter which entrance you choose. You can get to the entire 134 acre park from each of the entrances. The dog park is cool if you have dogs. They have a section for small dogs and another for big dogs. In the dog park side, there is also a nice playground for the kids. It is farm equipment themed. The farm area is cool. It's a historical site. The farm was supposedly in use until 1999! A few of the old buildings are there, and the old cow pasture is there as well. You can even cross the long walking bridge at the farm side. That is a very popular area for photographers. Heck, the entire farm side is a popular spot for photographers. You'll always see one doing family photos, engagement, quinceanera, senior, and other photos. The park also has a 2.3 mile trail. The trail is 2 loops (one on the farm side and one on the dog park side) joined by a trail. So you can do a figure 8 or whatever if you want to walk the entire trail. The trail is nicely maintained. It is beautify during the fall when the leaves change. They also have the more "scenic" trails off the main trail. If you want to picnic, they have a few large pavilions to take advantage of. This is a great park that has it all: photography locations, great trail, playground, historical site, and more.

Fun playground for toddlers and school age kids! Our baby loved the swings and the grassy areas to crawl around. I'm sure he would love the farm themed play sets too once he's older. The park has a large fenced in area for dogs as well as plenty of paved and unpaved walking paths. The bathrooms were clean.

I come to this park all the time when the weather is nice. It's a great park for all sorts of activities: going on a stroll, walking your dog, taking pictures. I love coming here to relax and I wish there were more parks like this around.

We came for the Harvest festival and this has now become our favorite park, playground and trails in all of Gwinnett, Fulton, Cobb and Forsyth counties. This place makes you wish you owned a farm and had this beautiful landscape to work and play in. Incredible.

Came in late December during the holiday season for some fresh air. This park is the hidden crown jewel of Gwinnett. It is more well maintained and better historically preserved than many National Parks and Historic Sites I've seen in the country! Trails: Paved trails galore! And no potholes or bad muddy spots either. This makes for such a smooth walking experience. I saw folks biking and thought that a great idea. Historic Preservation: The signage in the park is pristine. Either they cleaned off people writing on signage (which seems to always inevitably happen in most parks) or most people, like me, are so impressed by the park that they wouldn't dare deface anything in the first place. The lack of graffiti or defacing really made you feel like you were traveling back decades into the time the McDaniels worked the land! Also, there's no shortage of stuff to see. Although due to COVID there were no house tours, I could peek into the tenant house and the main house to get a good sense of what it looked like in the inside, and I could tell Gwinnett Co. very thoroughly labeled all the historic artifacts, and there were many vintage items to give you a great sense of what living here used to be like. Once COVID lifts I can't wait to come back for a tour! Bathrooms: This is such an important part of the park experience for me, and McDaniel doesn't disappoint. The bathrooms are very clean, with the doors open to circulate air (COVID reasons). The only improvement I can think of is the taps don't release hot water and the air dryer is not warm (which makes your hands frigid during the winter). But this is usually the case for most parks, so no minus points here for me. And lastly, the people. It is so lovely seeing the diversity of Gwinnett come together to enjoy the park. Dog walkers, Pokemon Go-ers, people just needing a scenic place to have a long phone chat, veterans, Korean elders having a picnic, and kids racing each other: this is the best of Gwinnett, truly.

Great place to eat your Korean-food take out! A beautiful place to walk and learn a little about the farming community that used to exist in this area. Pretty kid friendly with nicely groomed paths.

Going to MaDaniel Farm Park early in the morning is so peaceful and beautiful it's just you and nature a place to clear your mind while you just walking and seeing where the trail takes you reading history about the Park makes you understand the farm more and it was so fascinated to see where the McDaniels grew up and everything about there farm it was just a wonderful experience.

In the bustling streets of pleasant Hill and satellite it's easy to forget that there's a neat little rural pocket of sweet southern comfort tucked behind car dealerships. Ironically this is an old cotton farm that still maintains clapboard houses and wells and barns. So if you want to truly experience the diversity of Duluth, it's not hard to go Asia hopping on Pleasant Hill and then suddenly escape to southern charm right across the street from Great wall Supermarket. I love that i felt I had left Atlanta for a while and had entered into another place in time. It's a good nature trail for those who enjoy hikes and walks and nature. IT's a farm so it's great for educational purposes to see heritage nuts and trees. I heard there's even educational tours given about the farm houses and the gardens! Not too busy generally; mostly an older crowd of people who mind their own business and stroll around. Parking looks like it can be a problem if you're going to have a huge celebration here. The park is very clean and well maintained. no pollution or litering so I'm glad people respect its grounds

In my opinion as someone who travels all around the southern United States to visit hiking trails &…read morewaterfalls, Ivy Creek Greenway is a lovely local opportunity to get out into nature without driving a great distance. FIRST, the trail is peaceful. On most of my visits there have been a minimal amount of walkers, riders, and/or hikers on the trail. It's a great place to walk by yourself, with a friend or even as a family. SECOND, the trail offers multiple experiences. The section that starts beneath the southbound exit on I-85 traveling west towards the Gwinnett Heritage Center is fully paved. But from the same point traveling east is a wooded hiking trail with dirt/gravel paths. Along this eastern section are also many spur trails leading into the large marsh area sandwiched between Mall of Georgia Blvd & I-85. THIRD, while it is very close to civilization it feels like its own world. I love that you can get away right in the heart of a populated area and feel very much like you've been on an adventure. [ THE EXPERIENCE ] There are several access points, but we chose to park at the Mill Creek Nature Center on the backside of the Mall between Bird Watcher Supply Company & Wendy's. There is only space for about 10 cars in the little gravel parking area, but don't worry. If it is full there is plenty of paved parking available just across the Boulevard. Once parked you walk out to the sidewalk parallel to the street for a short distance until you come upon a set of wooden stairs leading down to the trail. When you reach the main trail you can go left where the trail will lead you 1 mile to Gravel Springs Road or go right towards Hwy 20. We decided to go right, but along the way discovered a wooden foot bridge leading through the swamp. This is not actually on the official trail map and will add approx. 1.25 miles to your hike. *WARNING - it can be a bit confusing to follow because it breaks off into so many side trails, but if you are capable of remembering the way you came, it won't be a problem. The marsh trail contains MANY old wooden footbridges to keep your feet dry as well as a watch tower that overlooks a wide open area of the marsh. I would imagine this would be a fun area for young ones to pretend they were trespassing on SHREKS land. Along the way there are also several markers indicating different species of trees, plants & wildlife from opossums to birds. Great educational tool for both young and older children. Near the lookout tower is a loop trail we did not follow. Instead, we returned the same way we came to the main trail. *** NOTE: We ventured across a HUGE snapping turtle on the main trail. It looked like a boulder at first. While snapping turtles can't run fast, their bite is lightening quick and their neck are longer than you think. DO NOT try to handle them. Continuing West we soon passed below the exit loop of I-85. Just before this point you will encounter a spur trail leading to the parking lot behind Mattress Firm, which also serves as another trail access point. Next you will cross under Hwy 20 before coming to an old concrete bridge leading across Ivy Creek. To your right is yet another parking area and access point, but I would advise you to only use this one if you have a high clearance vehicle. Ruts in the gravel have made it rather rough for low clearance cars. It's also tricky to get here since you'd have to cross into the parking area about where the southbound ramp is merging with Hwy 20. Once across the concrete bridge the waterfall is only a little over 200 feet away. If the water flow is good, you should easily hear it! It's not a natural waterfall, but the remains of historic Woodward Grist Mill. The metal wheel is still on site. The banks of the creek are sandy, making it a great spot to hang out a while with the kids or a date! Continuing west you will pass The Preserve @ Mill Creek Apartments. Near their picnic deck is another sandy area for relaxing right where the creek cascades for about 100 feet. Beyond that is a wooden boardwalk leading to a split. Either go towards the Gwinnett Environmental Center (right) or continue on Ivy Creek Trail (left). We walked the trail left all the way to the suspension bridge and then returned the way we came. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Overall we clocked about 5.25 miles from the Mill Creek Nature Center parking area to the suspension bridge and back with a tour of the swamp trail to the lookout tower. It is a very easy trail, but does get a little hilly as you get closer to the suspension bridge. Overall it took us a leisurely 1.5 hours on a GORGEOUS 80 degree Sunday afternoon with perfect breezes. I know what some of the other reviews say, but I can't see how anyone wouldn't enjoy spending a little time on this trail. Afterwards we ate @ nearby Burger 21, home to one of my favorite burgers (The OMG) and one of the ONLY black bean burgers my particular wife enjoys. HAVE FUN! 2022 / 62
