Really nice!! I came upon this park actually by pure accident. I thought I was going to Gregory Pirkle Park and ummm why do these two have to sound so alike? Haha, so anyway that's how I went way outta my way and ended up with a great walking spot for my pup and me. It's nicely paved and has lots of different ways you can go. I love all the trees and can't wait to see it in Soring! I love how quiet it is and it would make a great running course too! No traffic, exhaust, and it wasn't crowded at all. I love the tranquility and beauty of being in nature. Our new puppy needs lots of walking and this truly is a fantastic place for a walk, a run, time with friends or even solo for some good reflection. One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to take a walk in every Gwinnett County Park. And I am finding some real gyms throughout the county! This one is my favorite so far (disclaimer - I am still early in the adventure). My husband and I ventured out for a walk one sunny Saturday morning. We opted to take the nature trail which winds lazily through the woods until you get to a wonderful marsh area. I am a huge fan of water birds, and we were not disappointed to encounter lots of geese, ducks, and a beautiful great blue heron! Folks on the path were mostly quiet (which is great because it doesn't scare off the birds!). You could hear the occasional cheer from the nearby soccer games, but they did not detract from the beautiful outdoor experience. We encountered a number of walkers and runners, but did not feel it was crowded. We had to leave earlier than I wanted to because we had to pick my son up from a camp he was attending. BUT - after we picked him up, we grabbed some Publix subs and returned for a picnic at the lake! There were several picnic tables around the lake (nicely distanced). We were the only people using them on the sunny day that we visited. Then, we hit the nature trail again. This time, we got to finish it! We spotted a belted kingfisher this time (but of course, I had forgotten to bring my binoculars - be sure to bring them!). We also got to head out over the marsh on the wooded pier. We saw lots of cool goose tracks and even some raccoon tracks in the marsh area. After lunch, there were more people on the trail and far more bicycles and scooters on the wooden pier walkway. The bikes and scooters make quite a bit of bit of noise on the wood, so we saw far fewer birds after lunch. We did see an area that looked like there may be some beaver activity there. This is a great spot, and we will definitely be back. I will be aiming for early morning because I am all about the bird and critter spotting. What a great treasure right here in Gwinnett! read more

This is one of my favorite parks to go walking. I luv luv luv the scenery! There are several bridges, waterways, lakes, and if your lucky you will see some baby deer. George Pierce Park has miles upon miles of scenic paved and non-paved trails. From George Pierce Park you can take the greenway to connect to Martin Farms trail which then connects to Suwanee Creek park. Note: the trail that connects the 3 parks is not a loop. I believe it's more than 6 miles from one end to the other end. So be mindful you will have to walk back to where you started. read more

Highlight: If you want an escape to another world- felt like swampy areas of Florida, then this is the place to go! It is an assuming park right past downtown Suwanee that boasts of recreational areas, a lovely greenway, trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and multipurpose area. It is great for wildlife observation- featuring deer, beavers, herons, birds, turtles etc. It's great for a walk, friendly to dogs, learn about nature, and escape from the hustle and bustle around your world :) Greenway---I came here twice in one day- that's how amazed I was! I went once in the morning with my nature loving friend. Drive all the way to the very end of the park- yes it is super deep, and you'll hit the green way. Park there and enter the trail. You will pass by swampy woodlands that look like beaver lodgings. If you come around 7:00 p.m you can observe beaver feeding time. Evenings are also great for deer spotting and bird feeding time. If you continue, you'll come to a lovely marshland area with trails cutting through and if you go around the woods, you will encounter an overlook over this swampy area. For nature lovers, this is a treat. I felt like I was in the Wakadahootchee swamplands in South Florida- I can't believe I was here in Suwanee, GA. This is also a great place for educational purposes. I brought another dear friend later in the day and we went tree identifying. There is something majestic to see the tulip trees, beeches, and sweet gum overhead shade creating a silence around you.It makes the walk cooling, bathing shadows of blues, purples, and greens especially as you approach sunset. If you walk to the end of the greenway, you will encounter a playground- my friend and I went to the swings there for a bit. It was a lovely day. This trail is bike friendly, pet friendly, and great for small children. Although there is some invasive species around (inevitable), it is nice to be able to identify many native species. Much of the land is undisturbed and it is lovely to see so many hardwoods as the primary shade in the area. read more

This is a very nice park with two separate covered picnic table pavilions with grills available for public use (unless they are reserved) by the pond area. I didn't have a chance to scout of the entire area, but the trails seemed serene and shaded. There is also a nice and well maintained playground and the bathrooms were in good condition. read more

This is a really awesome park nestled off Buford Highway between Suwanee and Sugar Hill. The park has the Suwanee greenway run between it and the Suwanee Town Center as well as in developed areas to the back of the park. Basketball courts, football fields and baseball diamonds this park is much larger than it appears. They have a good amount of walking trails and several play areas for younger kids. One of the play areas is connected to a covered pavilion and a cute little lake that has a paved area to walk around. We had a birthday party here and found it was a great spot with lots of parking right when you enter the park. Gwinnet county parks rock and this one is proof of why! read more

This is my favorite park. It has a little bit of everything. The playground is a little tricky to find, especially in the summer when all the leaves block your view. Park in the very first parking lot on the right and follow the trail to the left of the parking lot to get to it. It's a pretty basic playground, but still fun for toddlers. I've been there many times, and have yet to see it crowded. In my opinion, the best trail at George Pierce is Ivy Creek. Follow the road all the way to the last parking lot to get to the trail head. It is all boardwalk and cement. Very easy to take a stroller on. Goes over and around the wetlands. Always something cool to see; turtles, fish, frogs, cranes, ducks, geese, deer, etc. The trail feeds into Suwanee Greenway (also a great trail) for the ambitious, or those with longer legs and more energy than a 4 and 2 year old. read more

Nice park. The playground is small and shaded, which is nice. It was a bit hard to find since there was so sign that lead you to the playground. You basically see a small parking lot to your right as you drive in and should park there and walk down the path to your right to get there. The park seems like a nice place to go for runs, walks, and relax outside. Will be back again. read more

As I stood at the outlook across the large marsh area of George pierce, I said outloud: "Wow!" Underneath me I heard: "Yea man" and I freaked out. Ok, hunters and fishers, you need to make yourself known before a guy goes and has a moment! In all seriousness, man this is a great, lovely park! Littered with all sorts of things to do, from softball fields, large covered picnic table areas, basketball courts hiking and biking trails, if you can't find much to do here, then i'm at a loss. There's a lot of interconnection with the trails that all seem to loop back on to each other, so while you're in the same park, you can still switch up with a bit of trail variety. George Pierce happens to be the beginning (or end) of the Suwanee Greenway trail, which spits you out right at the Ivy Creek parking lot waaaaay in the back of George pierce, and I encourage you to explore either all of it or as much as your interests will allow, even if it's simply George Pierce itself. Great Park! George Pierce Park has a bunch of trails that loop through the area and intersect with each other. This is cool because it lets you get from one trail to another easily and it lets you customize your walk/run. I believe most of the trails are paved making it easy to jog on but the elevation does change quite a bit so it's not an easy jog. The park also has basketball courts, softball diamonds and other various sports fields/areas. read more

DEER. Hopping scampering bundles of Bambiness just a few feet off the trail last night around 6PM. Took a walk after work with my dog and covered about 3 miles of trails, almost all well shaded. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of car activity on the road in so it wasn't the quietest park in the world. But on my next trip I will try and hit more of the greenway trail and hope it will be a bit more isolated. Park is well maintained with lots of walkers, joggers, bikers, dogs on leashes, turtles chilling on branches in the marsh, and freaking DEER. Did I mention the DEER. Sorry I live in East Atlanta Village a block from the EARL so not used to seeing DEER at 6PM on a Tuesday night. read more

My oldest son, Christian practice and plays soccer and T-Ball here. The park is kept up and very clean. There's a lot of activities here for all ages to do. For example they have basketball courts, ponds, playgrounds, picnic area, baseball field, soccer field and many more. George Pierce Park - The beautiful wetlands - Parks Near Me - Suwanee, Georgia

The park is amazing. I biked through it yesterday. It had been a while since I have rode their trails but it won't be long before I find my way back there. The park has upgraded the trail system and built new paths through the marsh that gives you a picturesque ride with lots of wild life including Whitetaile Deer. The park trails are also connected to the Suwanee Greenway which provides hours of fun and exercise. read more

This park is a wonderful park in a natural setting with trails, creeks and picnic areas. My main concern is a decided lack of maps in the main administrative building and absence of any markers along the trail. The uninterested person at the main desk just said the trail is one big loop. You can't get lost. Boy was he wrong. We walked and walked and wound up at many forks in the road with no arrow as to which way to go. Needless to say, we got lost. We finally found one "You Are Here" sign which told us we were far from the main road and headed nowhere. Not one big loop! read more

George Pierce Park is an excellent place for recreation and exercise. It has numerous shaded trails that are great for walking, jogging, running and cycling. The miles of trails and loops are well set up for variety, and it's never very busy. It also connects to the Suwanee Greenway, making access easy. read more
