Set out to walk about a mile and ended up doing three. Active area, couples, runners etc all getting their physical activity in for the day. I really liked the fact that it has paved roads or the options of going on a trail. Beautiful trails.

Plenty of parking and trail heads. Restrooms, maps, picnic areas. Wide paved trails intermingled with off road soft trails and disk golf course. Beautiful green oasis along the Suwanee Creek with rolling hills. Follow for 5+ miles and connect to George Pierce Park trail. Lots of walkers, a few joggers and fewer riders made for a very pleasant yet challenging trail. Approach boardwalks and bridges carefully due to slippery moss. Highly recommend as the perfect nature respite. Spotted lots of squirrels, fowl and a couple of does.

As I set off this morning to check out Suwanee Park, I was convinced this was a first-time visit for me. Not so, as I became aware as I turned into the parking area. Memories are fallible. I had been here at least twice before, years ago. Suwanee is a suburban park devoted to casual walking and runners. There are very few unpaved hiking trails. However, what there is of that is interesting and enjoyable. The map of the park suggests there is but one 'soft trail'. However, along with a web of short trails connecting the disc golf 'holes', there is at least one longer trail not shown on the map. It runs from an unmarked northern trailhead just at the border of Suwanee park, along the creek and then, eventually, meets up with the only partially mapped soft trail running between the two parking areas. I say 'eventually' because I lost the trail somewhere deep in the heart of the swamp and had to bushwack my way back to civilization, at one point crossing a small creek using a rotted, shaky fallen tree. All good fun. It's not like you can get lost in this park and it would have been easier had it not rained the previous day, making creek crossing somewhat dicey. Even the marked soft trail is incompletely shown on the map. Were it not for that experience, I would have marked Suwanee as rating only two stars. For me, there just isn't much interest in walking on wide asphalt and concrete paths. But the potential for creekside trail exploration provides an additional star. Still, if you like to run, this may be your ticket, particularly since the paved path connects to two other local parks. You can run a long way.

Creepy in certain spots but it's dead winter at the moment. I'm sure it's very beautiful in the summer. Great photo opportunities! Pet friendly.

So when is getting lost cool? When it's a pretty day and you're at Suwanee Creek Park. I came here expecting to have a quick 1 mile walk around noon and ended up lost on the greenway. See, Suwanee Creek park is one of a few parks connected along a really gorgeous greenway path, but i'll get to that in a bit. The thing that set Suwanee creek apart from other parks for me were the soft trails, that weren't mandatory, but definitely gave you the feeling like you were on a nice hike. The paved trails were also very clean, no trash to speak of, and surprisingly not crowded, although it was a Wednesday around 12pm. I will say the paved trail/board walks are fairly flat most of the way, but the soft trails have a few nice hills. Both trails allow plenty of space for bikers also. The creek part of the name is evident as you see the water flowing alongside you, and it's really cool to see wetlands a golf disc throw away from the trails. So pretty. Just a note on the soft paths...i'd never heard of disc golf, but you'll notice yellow disc stations and "caution: flying disc" signs scattered about, that you should heed if you're on the soft trails. Suwanee Creek Park is on the southern end of the Suwanee Creek Greenway, which stretches about 4 miles from Suwanee Creek to George Pierce. Remember that 1 mile I thought I was going to walk? I ended up 2.5 miles in before I realized the trail wasn't looping back on itself, so unless you want to walk a few miles (nothing wrong with that), bring a friend and drop one car off at the other park! Restrooms are available at both ends of the greenway, although I don't remember seeing one at the midpoint park (Martin Farm), so plan accordingly! The trail goes under, then alongside McGinnis Ferry for a bit, which can be a little worrisome if there are speeders about, but it's only for a short walk, and there's a nice wide sidewalk that separates you from the cars. All in all, I can't find much wrong with this park. Very bicycle, pet and pedestrian friendly in a clean environment, complete with Disc golf! Do stop in if you're in the area

Good looking park with soft and hard trails. Hilly and wooded with a nice river running through it. Very peaceful. Connects to other Suwanee city parks, including the one further down the road in front of the Suwanee city hall. Excellent for runners, bikers and dog walkers.

    Great trail for dogs :)

But what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! What I thought would be a simple morning walk quickly became a full experience of art, community, and nature. The park is beautifully designed, offering something for every type of visitor. Wide walking and hiking paths weave through the grounds, inviting you to slow down and enjoy the scenery. Families can enjoy the spacious playground, athletes can hit the sand for a game of beach volleyball, and history buffs will appreciate the thoughtful and moving Army Memorial - Greater good by Michael Szabo. It's the kind of space that effortlessly blends recreation with reflection. While strolling, I had a great chat with one of the friendly groundskeepers who told me about the Saturday farmers market, as well as seasonal concerts and food trucks that make the park come alive with energy, music, and flavors. It's clearly more than just a park--it's a gathering place where the community comes together. As an art lover, the sculpture garden was the highlight of my visit. The pieces are striking, and I found myself particularly drawn to Esther and Miles, two incredible works by Olu Amoda of Smyrna, GA. The way he transforms recycled metal into such expressive, beautiful forms is nothing short of inspiring. Town Center Park is more than a patch of green space--it's an experience. Whether you're here to exercise, enjoy art, take the kids out to play, or immerse yourself in community events, you'll leave refreshed, inspired, and wondering why you didn't visit sooner.

In my opinion as someone who travels all around the southern United States to visit hiking trails &…read morewaterfalls, Ivy Creek Greenway is a lovely local opportunity to get out into nature without driving a great distance. FIRST, the trail is peaceful. On most of my visits there have been a minimal amount of walkers, riders, and/or hikers on the trail. It's a great place to walk by yourself, with a friend or even as a family. SECOND, the trail offers multiple experiences. The section that starts beneath the southbound exit on I-85 traveling west towards the Gwinnett Heritage Center is fully paved. But from the same point traveling east is a wooded hiking trail with dirt/gravel paths. Along this eastern section are also many spur trails leading into the large marsh area sandwiched between Mall of Georgia Blvd & I-85. THIRD, while it is very close to civilization it feels like its own world. I love that you can get away right in the heart of a populated area and feel very much like you've been on an adventure. [ THE EXPERIENCE ] There are several access points, but we chose to park at the Mill Creek Nature Center on the backside of the Mall between Bird Watcher Supply Company & Wendy's. There is only space for about 10 cars in the little gravel parking area, but don't worry. If it is full there is plenty of paved parking available just across the Boulevard. Once parked you walk out to the sidewalk parallel to the street for a short distance until you come upon a set of wooden stairs leading down to the trail. When you reach the main trail you can go left where the trail will lead you 1 mile to Gravel Springs Road or go right towards Hwy 20. We decided to go right, but along the way discovered a wooden foot bridge leading through the swamp. This is not actually on the official trail map and will add approx. 1.25 miles to your hike. *WARNING - it can be a bit confusing to follow because it breaks off into so many side trails, but if you are capable of remembering the way you came, it won't be a problem. The marsh trail contains MANY old wooden footbridges to keep your feet dry as well as a watch tower that overlooks a wide open area of the marsh. I would imagine this would be a fun area for young ones to pretend they were trespassing on SHREKS land. Along the way there are also several markers indicating different species of trees, plants & wildlife from opossums to birds. Great educational tool for both young and older children. Near the lookout tower is a loop trail we did not follow. Instead, we returned the same way we came to the main trail. *** NOTE: We ventured across a HUGE snapping turtle on the main trail. It looked like a boulder at first. While snapping turtles can't run fast, their bite is lightening quick and their neck are longer than you think. DO NOT try to handle them. Continuing West we soon passed below the exit loop of I-85. Just before this point you will encounter a spur trail leading to the parking lot behind Mattress Firm, which also serves as another trail access point. Next you will cross under Hwy 20 before coming to an old concrete bridge leading across Ivy Creek. To your right is yet another parking area and access point, but I would advise you to only use this one if you have a high clearance vehicle. Ruts in the gravel have made it rather rough for low clearance cars. It's also tricky to get here since you'd have to cross into the parking area about where the southbound ramp is merging with Hwy 20. Once across the concrete bridge the waterfall is only a little over 200 feet away. If the water flow is good, you should easily hear it! It's not a natural waterfall, but the remains of historic Woodward Grist Mill. The metal wheel is still on site. The banks of the creek are sandy, making it a great spot to hang out a while with the kids or a date! Continuing west you will pass The Preserve @ Mill Creek Apartments. Near their picnic deck is another sandy area for relaxing right where the creek cascades for about 100 feet. Beyond that is a wooden boardwalk leading to a split. Either go towards the Gwinnett Environmental Center (right) or continue on Ivy Creek Trail (left). We walked the trail left all the way to the suspension bridge and then returned the way we came. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Overall we clocked about 5.25 miles from the Mill Creek Nature Center parking area to the suspension bridge and back with a tour of the swamp trail to the lookout tower. It is a very easy trail, but does get a little hilly as you get closer to the suspension bridge. Overall it took us a leisurely 1.5 hours on a GORGEOUS 80 degree Sunday afternoon with perfect breezes. I know what some of the other reviews say, but I can't see how anyone wouldn't enjoy spending a little time on this trail. Afterwards we ate @ nearby Burger 21, home to one of my favorite burgers (The OMG) and one of the ONLY black bean burgers my particular wife enjoys. HAVE FUN! 2022 / 62

Part of the perks of being a member of…read morethe McGinnis Reserve subdivision, non-members do have access to the walking trail via the Suwanee Greenway, which rests right along this subdivision. The lake that the paved walking trail surrounds is 20 acres total, and the trail is generally kept up fairly well, minus the side stepping all of the geese poop. The lake itself, which you can't fish out of, is a pretty clear and vibrant lake. Wildlife i've seen have included the aformentioned geese, cranes, and i've seen a few turtles as well. There's no mileage on the actual trail, but I do believe it's less than a mile and is flat in all but a couple of spots with a high hill. There are two access points to the walking trail and lake, one being near the suwanee greenway trail opening (very close to the entrance tot he subdivision), and another via a set of stairs, which leads to the actual subdivision homes. There is no direct parking for walkway access, outside of street parking. I parked at the clubhouse at the rear and walked to the trail. It was about a 12 minute walk, so you'll get a work out in when you combine that with the trail walk itself. Do you HAVE to visit this trail? Well, if you're not pooped out from the grenway, it's a nice lake to take in. If you live here, you definitely should be here daily. But I wouldn't make a special trip to this trail alone. Another fun outdoor stop worth checking out. Give it a shot if you can!
