Five minutes of getting there and into our walk, this dude comes chasing us down on his mower, scared the hell out of us, thought he was going to run us over, jumps off the mower and comes over and yells at me, "You didn't pick up your dogs poop!" Ok for one, my dog hadn't even had time to poop, we had just got there. And even if I hadn't I didn't appreciate the theatrics. I come there with my dog and disabled husband to walk in peace, it's good therapy for my husband who has dementia but this was uncalled for! If they want to really obsess over something, how about all the poop on the walkway and the used condoms I have to constantly step over!

But what a delightful surprise it turned out to be! What I thought would be a simple morning walk quickly became a full experience of art, community, and nature. The park is beautifully designed, offering something for every type of visitor. Wide walking and hiking paths weave through the grounds, inviting you to slow down and enjoy the scenery. Families can enjoy the spacious playground, athletes can hit the sand for a game of beach volleyball, and history buffs will appreciate the thoughtful and moving Army Memorial - Greater good by Michael Szabo. It's the kind of space that effortlessly blends recreation with reflection. While strolling, I had a great chat with one of the friendly groundskeepers who told me about the Saturday farmers market, as well as seasonal concerts and food trucks that make the park come alive with energy, music, and flavors. It's clearly more than just a park--it's a gathering place where the community comes together. As an art lover, the sculpture garden was the highlight of my visit. The pieces are striking, and I found myself particularly drawn to Esther and Miles, two incredible works by Olu Amoda of Smyrna, GA. The way he transforms recycled metal into such expressive, beautiful forms is nothing short of inspiring. Town Center Park is more than a patch of green space--it's an experience. Whether you're here to exercise, enjoy art, take the kids out to play, or immerse yourself in community events, you'll leave refreshed, inspired, and wondering why you didn't visit sooner.

When we arrived there was a red van with all the window shades red with an old grey haired man driving. He park 4 space across from us facing the playground. I noticed another man just sitting on one of the benches nicely dressed on his phone right by the playground watching the kids play. The man sitting got up after he noticed I saws starring at him, we went to a blacked out Audi that was facing the playground. He sat in his car, watching the playground and talking on his phone. The gentleman in the red van at that time backed out of his parking spot that he was in and moved to the opposite side of the parking lot. He was not facing the playground, but I noticed he was watching his rearview mirrors. I notified my brother who was with us and he went by the red van in the gentleman, and the van followed him. The gentleman and the black out, Audi backed out and left the park . The gentleman in the red van then moved to another parking spot between two vehicles face the playground again. My brother and I decided to leave with the kids. after we got the kids in the car seats my brother went to inform parents on the play about what we have been watching. The mother with 3 young girls had my brother walk with her to her vehicle that was two spaces from the red van. I watched the man in the red van watching me and others in the playground. When my brother got in the vehicle to leave the red van moved again. This time he got out the van walked around to the passenger side and opened the sliding door. As he was getting back in his drivers seat he starred us down. I decided to go to the restroom s and call the police. As I was on the phone and lady over heard me talking to the 911 operator, she stop and questioned me. She got worried because the red van was parked next to her vehicle and she had two kids. My brother offered to bring her and the kids to her vehicle, but the kids were still at practice. We decided to move closer to the gates so we could watch for the police and watch to see if the van lift the park. As we were sitting in the vehicle waiting on the police we noticed the man in the Audi was back in the park. We waited for 32 minutes and decided to just leave the kid were not feeling to good, the heat and spinning. I don't know what happened after we left, never received a call back from the police. I did see the lady waiting for her kids was telling all the parents around her and entering the park. She was not getting in her vehicle until the police arrived. The Good: The kids loved the playground and all they could play on. We even got some National Geographic Books for kids.

Located pretty hidden from…read morethe main roads on Collins Hill Park, this park is pretty close to Collins Hill High School so you'll occasionally see the high school students playing basketball (yes they do have a basketball court) or do some training. This park is huge, and it has a lot of facilities, including a basketball court and a semi-beautiful lake/creek you can look at while you're taking a jog/walk. What I really like about this park is that it has a trail that's really similar to a hike; it's not paved roads and it's kind of in the backyard-ish area, so you'll see inclines and it really feels similar to a hike. Every time I record a jog, I see that one full lap around the entire trail is 1.4 miles, so it's a pretty great place to work out. I come here with my mom pretty frequently to get jogs when I'm getting tired of Rock Springs Park (another great park), but this is another great 5-star hidden gem park that's worth checking out!

If you've got kids and you haven't walked this trail, you're flat-out cheating them out of something magical. Giant trees shade the path, beams of sunlight slip through the canopy, and page by page a story unfolds as you hike. It's part exercise, part fairytale, and completely unforgettable. The nature trail is an easy 1.33 miles--perfect for a quick adventure that doesn't feel "quick." The talking trail is another, that you absolutely cannot miss. I'm already planning my return trip with my husband and son for fishing off the pier. The bathrooms used to be filthy every time I would come in from 2020-2022. I would see workers cleaning them after 12 noon generally, but I just always happened to catch them when they were still pretty grimy. Recently, I went in this past Friday, January 27th, and the ladies' room was actually spotless compared to the other times I've seen it! Maybe I just caught it on a good day, maybe it was too cold for people to be out soiling it with heavy use, or maybe they've employed more workers to this park in the new year, but in any case it was a pleasant surprise. That's really the only gripe I've had historically with this park in the 3 years that I've been living in Norcross. Briscoe, Shorty Howell, Alexander, and Bethesda are probably some of my favorite Gwinnett parks just to name a few for various reasons, but Graves Park still trumps many Dekalb or Fulton parks in terms of cleanliness, overall safety, accessibility, parking, walking trails, scenery, and available picnic areas/ bathrooms. A lot of people love Graves for the dog park section. I haven't had a dog since my childhood, but it seems like a good place to let your furry friends run if you need the space. I personally like this park for the trails. There is a longer looping option through the woods and a shorter loop around volleyball/ tennis courts and the backside of the playground. All the patrons here are pretty friendly that I've encountered. If you need to get out of busy soul crushing traffic on Chamblee-Tucker Road or Jimmy Carter, come stretch your legs at Graves Park - a nice little getaway from the madness.

Shade is hard to come by in the middle of a hot Atlanta day - so, if you don't want to die from a heat stroke, come equipped with a tent or something. The main attraction is a splash pool that kids just go ga-ga over. There is pretty good parking options available, with just a short walking distance to the splash pool, even shorter to the playground. Apparently, this is a predominantly Latino neighborhood, judging by the dialects used by kids and adults alike. There are some peddling their wares (food, drink etc.), but they are not particularly intrusive. We had a fun and hot afternoon!
