I am looking at a used car at McCarthy Auto World. My brother noticed a coolant leak that is common in that model and I asked them to have their shop look at it before I bought it. They said they would look at it in the morning and I could buy it tomorrow. They laid out a sheet of paper that they said I needed to sign to acknowledge the terms they showed me. I asked them if this was me buying the car and Isaac Super (salesman) said no. My brother said that it looks like a purchase agreement. The salesman said "I'm super tired and I only started here three weeks ago. I don't know how things work here." Thank god we pressed them and got out of there. I am extremely disappointed with the service that I received when purchasing my GMC truck from a private seller through McCarthy Auto World. Josh was in a rush and very hands off since he was doing this pass through sale for a private seller that was buying a new truck off their lot. Josh was not very nice when I questioned him about how this all worked, and why I was charged a fee of 200.00 that was NOT included in my agreed price. I, as the buyer, have not experienced anything like this before and I had a few questions! However, Josh was in a hurry and simply wanted to get through the paperwork and kept saying "I'm just doing this for the seller." I told him I wasn't paying the fee to have Mccarthy sell the truck, so luckily the private seller was there to pay the fee. As I was checking out, an older McCarthy Auto employee in a blue shirt gave me his business card, approached me and said "you really should have paid that fee or at least split the cost." That made me feel very uncomfortable and the entire experience never made me want to go back. I will never be back and will not recommend anyone I know to buy a vehicle there. read more

My car was in for an oil change and something just seemed off. Was faster then normal, didn't have the inspection report available at check out. My husband checked the oil when I got home and oil was dirty and never changed. Don't ever buy a vehicle from these people. I purchased a truck back in 2019 and had that truck for 3 years. I just found the paperwork after clearing out my office files and realized they had sold me the extended warranty without ever actually explaining anything to me. Yes I understand it's on me as the buyer to read all the fine print, but it's shady that to make an extra buck you just have the young 21 year old sign sign sign so much paperwork it confuses him into 6k worth of add ons. My wife and I just bought a new 4Runner from a dealer and they were much more ideal to work with. Explained their warranty/add ons and allowed us to ACTUALLY understand what we would be getting if we opted to agree. That salesperson was named John at McCarthy, I don't know if he still works there but he was shady and I hope he was fired. That entire dealership should be. He called me when I traded in my wrangler for the new truck and told me "hey man the sales manager is upset you took your tractor Jack off of the truck, he wants you to bring it back" after telling me that my add ons don't add value. Ok then I'll take them off and put stock options back on! Which I did. Terrible experience, I'd avoid them. read more

I have bought several vehicles from them, with the last being in 2013. As of that time period, their service department was a huge disappointment. They did not do proper pre-delivery inspections, resulting in my 2011 Sierra 2500 Duramax being 3.5 quarts low on transmission fluid at the time of delivery. My 2013 Sierra 1500 was manufactured with a front axle shaft bearing missing, and puking gear oil within 100 miles. I'm thinking they should have spotted that leak before delivery. By far the best part of this dealership was my sales guy, Mike "Boomer" Anderson. He is back working there now, and that's your guy. A straight shooter and nice guy. I understand they have a new general manager now, so hopefully the past service dept issues got fixed. read more

The service department is really good at telling you what you want to hear, straight up lie to your face, and when it doesn't work out how they told you, they'll tell you they never said that. DO NOT buy from this dealership! They are horrible to deal with! They will give you such a low trade in amount, basically rip you off! Then want sticker price for their vehicle! You can do much better almost anywhere else. Their service dept is known for being bad. Their selection of vehicles is also stripped down, lacking options that should be on the vehicles! Took my car in to catch up on maintenance. Thoroughly discussed what maintenance was needed when the car was dropped off, as well as a squealing sound to check into. Car was kept 2 days (lots of Ubers for me). Squealing sound was fixed by replacing 2 rear wheel hubs ($800+). But no maintenance was done, which was the main purpose of taking the car in. Service manager didn't respond to my email, so I had to call a few times. Then, he says that only paperwork he sees is for the squealing issue. I said did you talk to the guy I met when I dropped the car off? No. Well, please do that an call me back. So, I get a call back and the service manager says the original guy says he can't remember anything (this was a week ago). That's it; end of conversation. No desire to resolve the issue. Bought new Denali from there and I am 100% satisfied with the truck. Unfortunately the service department is horrible. I have had it in for 2 recalls and oil changes and a couple rattle issues both times truck was promised at the end of day. Both times got a call late in the day saying it wouldn't be done. My brakes clearly had minimal life left in them at best when I brought it in for an oil change. I did get my oil changed (which took about 2hrs) then after leaving the dealership my brakes began to grind, sounding like metal on metal. I had looked at the multi point inspection that I received and didn't see anything regarding my brakes needed to be replaced, so I had figured it was just making noise. I then brought it to my neighbor, who then looked at my brakes and told me that not only was there no brake pad left, but now my rotors were worn down and needed to be replaced as well. My neighbor had also told me there was a leak under the car. The following day after having my neighbor put on new brakes and rotors for me, I went back to the dealership to speak to them regarding my prior visit where I received an inspection sheet in which it listed none of the following issues I previously stated. I had spoken to the assistant manager on Monday 11/18/2019 at approx 10:30a.m.. I received a call back 2 days later on 11/20/2019 at approx 11:30a.m.. in which I was told from the assistant manager that they don't physically check the brakes during their multipoint inspection, as well as the leak not being "significant" enough to inform me. I had also asked about my check all wheel drive light and was told that I would specially have to ask them to look over that issue upon my visit as well. After purchasing my car from this dealership and only allowing this dealership to provide maintenance on my car, I will no longer be using this dealership when it comes to my car maintenance, it has proven that McCarthy Auto World is untrustworthy and unreliable. read more

I searched the internet for a specific vehicle and found it listed online at McCarthy Auto World, a GM dealership. The car only had 54000 miles. I live three and half hours away from the dealership and was able to handle all the pre-approval financing over the phone prior to driving there. This was a blessing and made things nice. The sales staff were very eager and prompt to return my emails and phone calls. I was able to put a deposit down over the phone to ensure that the vehicle would still be there when I arrived. Ultimately, this form of sales seems to be standard in the business and nothing extraordinary. I arrived at the dealership and was very happy with my new - used car. They gave me a 30 day/1,000 mile drive train warranty for the vehicle and I purchased the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. The signing of papers and contracts was pretty standard for car dealerships. It still took about three hours to get everything done. I drove back home that night. The next day, less than 24 hours after purchase, the rear brakes started making a horrible grinding noise. I called the dealership and spoke with the salesman I purchased the vehicle from. He said he would talk to people and call me the next day. He never called. I called my local dealership and took the vehicle into them. They fixed the brakes as they informed me that the brake dust cover had been bent by whom ever put the new brakes pads on. My local dealer fixed the problem with no charge. At that time, they also informed me and showed me that the water pump needed to be replaced as there was a leak. I once again called the salesman at McCarthy Auto GM. I informed him of the water pump issue and reminded him of my 30 day/1,000 mile warranty. I asked him what they could do for me since I would have to pay $100 for the deductible for the extended warranty repair, and I felt that the repair should be covered under their 30 day warranty. (A seven hour round trip would be more expensive than the deductible.) The salesman said that he would call my local dealership directly and get back to me. He never called me back. I later called him. He said that he was busy with another customer who was buying a new car and was unable to call the dealership. He said that per the used car manager, they had replaced the water pump when they took the car in on trade. After some talk and trying to tell him what I wanted, I got the feeling that they were reluctant to do anything to contact my local dealership or work with me. The salesman seem to shoot down every idea I had for the issue to be resolved and I was tired of trying to relay information between the two GM dealers. I felt that I was not as important as a new car purchase. In the end, I gave up trying to get any further help or other reimbursement from the dealership. My local service dealership said that the water pump might have been new, but it appear to have been installed improperly. I am disappointed in the mechanical service ability of McCarthy Auto since the mechanic(s) who worked on the car there improperly installed and/or bent the brake dust covers and improperly installed the water pump, causing it to leak. I am disappointed in the business' ability to follow up with their customers post-purchase. They are typical of auto sales; eager to get your money and make a sale, but always hard to get a hold of when you have a problem. In the end, I have had a few great sales experience by car dealerships. McCarthy is not one of those and they fall into the standard car sales image and live up to all the things that people don't like about buying a new or used car. Would I buy a car from them again? Just an update to the previous review. Marc Weis the general manager at this location who replied stating to contact him, was already contacting on Friday. He wrote this response AFTER I had already spoke to him. He told me there is nothing else they can do for me and he actually HUNG UP on me. I find it very unprofessional that he is responding to this issue in such a manner that is deceiving to any potential customers as he is trying to better his perception by others. This was definitely the worse car experience I have had, and I wanted to share my experience so no one else has to endure what we did. There are plenty of car dealers out there that will treat you with respect and honor their customers. This however is not one of them, please avoid the hassle and shop elsewhere. read more

My girlfriend just bought a used car from them. Part of the deal was that they would fix all of the dents, they ended up cracking the paint all over the hood and both passenger doors. when I went into the dealership to ask them to fix it they told my it was an opinion even though I had quotes from a reputable body shop, and a reputable paint less dent removal specialist. The salesmen JOHN was rude and condescending, and idiotic. when I spoke with the used sales manager he was worse telling me I didn't know what I was talking about, and started yelling at me that I was wrong and my opinion was worthless. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SHADY PEOPLE! "i've been doing this longer than you've been alive" but cant see the cracked paint the garbage PDR service put into 3 panels on the car. Also their poor quality parking lot painter got a hair in the paint on the hood. If you want a POS car, then come here! read more
