Great place to hang out and watch sports, with great staff and daily specials. The GM is very friendly and likes helping his staff with a smile. I believe his name is Shawn, a nice guy. Prices aren't too bad compared to other places for dining. 2 stars only because the noise level can be high, and staff can have a hard time hearing orders. Last time we were there, we had to repeat the order to the server several times. They forgot three items on the order, and we requested corn, not flour. Got some drinks and food from this Irish pub in Joliet. It seems like food is an afterthought but they still have a full menu. McBride's is one of several locations so you can check out and compare these. Certainly seems like a place to come for a gathering. There's plenty of tables as well as TVs for watching games and whatever kinds of sports. Beers and other alcoholic beverages are why you come to an Irish pub of course. It's got a few deals going on. There's of course the Guinness on tap. Can't go wrong with it. Saturdays it's $6 a pint. As for the food, it's basic. It's $7 to get a few of the Pretzel Sticks. Could be the healthiest food here. These are topped with garlic butter and salt, and served with bistro sauce and nacho cheese, but I got mine without the butter and had mustard. Have to say it's a lot better than expected. It's got lots of specials that help save money for more to get drunk on. The food is okay while being pretty meaty, with bangers and mash types of things, but they also have pretzels. read more

Have driven past this place a hundred times on the way to Al's Steakhouse (q.v. my Yelp about this perennial fave). Never stopped, as I'm not exactly partial to pub places like this. My aversion was confirmed here at McBrides. I had a taste for a salad, and swung with a Wedge-how could they foul THAT up? (I soon learned exactly how) On a chalk board nearby I saw "Burger special $6". I'm not against dropping a coin or two for a good feed, but I've found a lot of places that look like this are akin to those coin-operated machines with a claw that you try to snag an expensive looking gift, only to have it drop just short of the hopped that delivers it to you. Close, but no Cicada... How could they foul up a burger? (I soon learned exactly how) The Wedge was weird-all the stuff heaped on top of the Iceburg slice, and the waste was...weird. Not bad or spoiled, just. Weird. The burger tasted odd, too. I'm betting it was out of a box. frozen as a penguin's ass. Y'know...penguin ass might have been the protein source for this, but I digress. (kidding, but that's how odd the "burger" tasted) I had a Guinness, which was properly poured, and a properly poured pint of the black stuff is worth 2 stars. We are in Joliet more than I would like with our travel baseball family at Inwood Sports Complex. I see this place every time, today we had four hours between games, and I finally stopped. They start everyone off with some tortilla chips and spicy nacho cheese. Thank you! That was a cool surprise. I just got a side salad, $6 for a salad with lettuce, cheese, tomato, red onion and cucs with ranch. Tons of toppings! I'd love more lettuce, but it was a good bite to eat. The staff was great, super friendly and fun. I wish the menu was a a dollar or two less of a price point, but it's convenient to the park and I would definitely go back for more. Rolled in on a Sunday afternoon after a ridiculous bears loss. Restaurant about half full, but the reception was thorough & quick unlike the bears today. Server took orders and delivered multiple touchdowns for our team. We ordered nachos & burgers. Then brought out complimentary nachos before nachos we ordered. What! Never have I seen a restaurant do this. $6 burger and fries special was an insane deal, no penalties called. Burger was big and fries plentiful. Massive hit w our group. Very cool spot. Large patio with good tunes, massive umbrellas for shade on a sunny day. A nice place to kick back on your day off and listen to some tunes with your friends or family. Staff was more than kind and accommodating. I'm sold on the food already. They have delicious nacho cheese and chips upon arrival which is always a plus. Good beer and drink options too! We hosted a 90th Birthday Party for my Mom on May 6, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until whenever. The preparations started when I sat down with the owner Tracy. The food choices were endless. The party was just Spectacular!! I was able to come in early that day to decorate. The staff was just AWESOME! We had Cody behind the bar, Chrissy and Kyle upstairs. They say this place is one of the best bars in Joliet. Sadly I think not. Came here on a weekend, to see what this place is like. Honestly, it's just another bar but at least it's more lively here than the others I've visited. I didn't bother staying for their food either. There's ample amount of parking outside, there's a smoking section outside. Dancing area nearby. Big bar as well, plenty of seating inside too. I'm definitely not a fan of the people that come here. I stop here every time while driving to Canada! They've been doing a great job keeping up with the cleaning tables and wearing masks with covid and all that but I sure wish the tables were farther apart. Either way, the fish and chips here is a generous and flavorful portion! The fries work well with the meal and the fresh baked cookie and ice cream were to die for!! This is Saint Patrick's Day 2021! I went to McBride's with my folks to celebrate a favorite holiday. We arrived early but, understandably, still had to wait a little for seating. I've dined out on rare occasions during the COVID-19 pandemic but today found myself with a couple green beers and a fish & chips dinner at this Joliet bar and grill. All around, no complaints. We arguably got one of the best two tables in the house, given my hope for (reasonable) social distancing in a decently crowded watering hole on a beer-thirsty holiday. I was also happy with my meal and our waiter's service. I didn't think the price was bad, either: three dinners and six beers (for everyone at the table, not just me) came out to $54. May you be ever-so-lucky and find a restaurant like McBride's at the end of your rainbow. read more

Ordered the McBride's Club Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes and gravy. Complementary Tortilla Chips with Queso appeared immediately, so I thought I'd be in for a bit of a wait. We declined Our order @ that point. We finished & paid for our drinks (After a 10 minute wait) . The server kept apologizing "Sorry, This is not our standard". I asked to speak with the manager & was told a manager was not available but I could speak to the Bar Tender. We waited 10 more minutes & left! Met a group of 12 here for lunch on a weekday. They were able to easily accommodate us and our one waitress was prompt, efficient, and friendly. They offered the table free queso (w/sausage) and tortillas. The queso was delush! I ordered the grilled McBride cobb salad and it was tasty, beautifully plated and hearty! My husband and I went to McBride's on 52 yesterday for lunch. Had a wonderful experience. Staff was wonderful and very attentive. Our server.Allie was the best she greeted us, brought us to our table made sure we understood the menu and encouraged us to ask any questions. We sometimes tend to ask for things and not all at once so she was very kind and answered or brought whatever we needed. The ambience was clean and fresh and well taken care of. The food was delicious and of course we ate too much. My husband had the ribs and you know how messy those are, but Allie brought him wet wipes, which was great. We recommend McBrides to anyone that would like a casual meal out.there were groups of families and friends and seating was made available for large parties and people with children. We've had some pretty rough experiences lately, and we were very pleasantly surprised to be in an establishment that catered to the patrons. read more
