First time coming here, was looking for a great casual place to relax at and wanted to finally give this place a chance after passing by it and contemplating visiting for years. Here is another bar in a plaza that isn't all bad. It has some fun and gaming. On The Rocks is good for fans of sports. Always has a game on a TV and pretty quiet sometimes which isn't a bad thing because you can actually just hang out. The prices are pretty good too. It has some pretty cheap prices on drinks and food. Most wells are really cheap and have a very nice pour. They seem to be generous most times. It's about 2 for a pour. The need for drinking should accompany the need for eating something. It doesn't have much in the way of food. They have some varieties of pretzels. It's $1 for a container full of some. Games here also include slots if you're into playing with your money. It sometimes has good odds. They have had quite a few winners. read more

I love this place! First, they're not known for their food. In fact they only have frozen pizzas. The drinks are your regular drinks. Why is this place awesome? The people, the music, the sports, the bartenders (I know, they're people too). When I first moved here I would go to J&J and someone told me to go to OTR to watch the hawks play. The place is so nice and always decorated for the holidays but the afternoon bartender today always has such a horrible attitude. She never smiles she doesn't make you feel like she gave two craps about you coming in and drinking there. It's not a good experience with her. Last night I watched the bartender Melissa, harass a guy for not paying his tab (the guy said he did). Someone then paid his tab for him to keep the peace. Then, another off duty bartender named Kristen went into the parking lot and started calling the guy who paid the tab a fa##ot while he was saying his goodbyes to the wedding party he was with. Came on Friday night for the sole purpose that their website says they have $3.50 Absolute and Effen flavors. Perfect, my friend and I's favorite vodkas. Each had a few, total bill should've been around $20 for what we had. Bill was over $36. When I asked the bar tender about the special tonight, she looked over at her manager (who was out talking to people at the bar after she had just gone behind the bar to make herself a drink) and her manager said oh no that special is on "like Tuesdays or some thing. Not Friday's" i mentioned the website and she looks at me dumbfounded and said " Oh yeah that website has not been updated in like two years. Yeah absolutely not." And when I told her oh that's ridiculous that's the only reason we came, she sarcastically goes "yeah it'll be fixed tomorrow." Thanks lady. Was offered a free beer from the bartender, turned it down because I don't drink it. The owner lets his dog (a chihuahua) run on top of the bar when everyone has their food and drinks on the bar. It's so gross and unsanitary. I don't care if the dog is freshly washed. I'm not trying to end up with dog hair in my food or drinks. read more

However their garnishments are not always consistent, for example my groups did not include cheese or pepperoni but other drinks leaving the bar did. I went with a couple friends . We decided to plan our visit for a Sunday so we could enjoy the supposed best bloody marys. They came with a chuck of chicken and a White Castle slider, with pepper and the other usual garnishes. I really liked the look but the taste was just way off. The slider and chicken were cold, slider soggy. I realize this drink is hard to pull off but if you can't do it right, concentrate on making a stellar drink. I ask if I could have mine extra spicy. Instead of adding more spice, it tasted like she poured half a jar of pepperoncini juice in it. Bartenders are also very rude. Instead of walking to our table to give me my drink, she screams the the top of her lungs over a loud crowded bar...."HEY!!!!!!" Super ignorant and unprofessional. I'm a regular here. The service is great.Great bartenders . Great place to have a cold one and a game and chill out. But lately its been more a sausage fest. Where in the past you have more female customers or an equal share of male and female customers. It feels like your just tending just half of the demographic like a month a go I was there I know things get busy and crazy I had to get the bartenders attention after numerous atemps for the female next to me I had to get the bartenders attention for her and it happened 2 more times. There is know other place I would go in Joliet than O.T.R. its my Cheers. I feel welcome every time I come here. The ladies that work there are top of the line friendly. I love this little bar! Huge on sports (NHL, NFL, NBA) more toward Blackhawks! There are a lot of TV's at every angle so you won't miss a second of the game. I been here a couple times and it's the same 2 bartenders. They are very fast, personable, and they are great entertainers! On game days they pass around free shots every 15 minutes it seems like. Don't know what type of shot it was but hey it's free! Not pricey at all and I usually get the tab and after me and lady were there for 3 hours drinking about 5 beers a piece and a couple shots and mixed drinks I think I spent not even $60. read more
