Came here for their Happy Hour. This place reminds me of Lure and even the menu looks to be very similar. I do find the drinks here to be better, but their food is not up to par IMO. They do give you some sourdough bread to munch on while your food is being prepped. I like how fresh and soft it is in the middle. Would pair great with some chowder. We ordered the clam pot, wedge salad, raw oysters, chargrilled oysters, scallops sashimi and a lobster roll. The chargrilled oysters were just ok. The bread crumbs on top didn't really add to the dish. There was really no taste to it, just texture. The raw oysters were pretty good, though there was no mignonette sauce like how Lure servers their oysters. The scallops were pretty good, but very small amount of scallops. The wedge salad was fresh and pretty good with the ranch dressing I requested in place of blue cheese. It came with a couple of onion rings on it, but was a nice surprise. The clam pot was very meh, although you do get a good amount of clams, it wasn't very flavorful. It was just cooked in butter and wasn't even seasoned well. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but I do like their drinks and at $11.50, that's not too shabby. read more

My husband and I came in to eat on Friday night and it was such a wonderful suprise when we looked up and saw an unexpected familiar face. It was Amanda, the sweet server that we used to visit at another Simi Valley restaurant. We were upset when we went back, asked to sit in her section, but told she no longer worked there. So glad we found her again! She truly makes eating out such a wonderful experience. From the moment we sit down, she is warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. She is attentive without ever making us feel rushed, makes great recommendations, and makes sure everything is perfect throughout our meal, and Friday night was no exception!! It's another one of those place that you happen to find when your looking for something fast. And it was a great experience. We happened to arrive when there was happy hour still available. Depending of if you want happy hour, you're seated accordingly. We did the later part of happy hour as well as dinner. Drinks and some of the dishes offered were great for the price. We had the oyster, mussels and fries and couple of drinks for happy hour. Everything was great. Entrees, the combo and the fisherman stew I believe. Dinner, Combo came with the scallops and shrimp skewers and two sides. The fisherman stew was perfect , seafood with pasta in a nice broth. Everything was great and flavored well. Plenty of seafood. The food is good, service is great, but spending a lot of money in MB Grille and coming out deaf is not acceptable. We went for dinner and Happy Hour was happening. They seated us right near the Happy Hour area and we (Husband & I) could not carry on a conversation. Note to restaurant please seat your guest away from the bar if at all possible. There were many, many seats open on the other side of the restaurant. No one wants to spend $140.00 for dinner for 2 and not be able to carry on a conversation with friends or family. read more

We come here quite a bit and this play is always so good. Had my usual trout dish and it is literally my favorite dish here. I get the steamed veggies and mashed potatoes and it's amazing and Healthy! My husband loves the burger and fries and it may sound weird but he says they cook it to perfection and it's a hardy meal. It's also $11 on happy hour menu! The lemon-drop Martini was delish, but I wouldn't order one if I was driving, it's pretty strong. Our waitress was good but forgot to get her name. We had a great dinner for three at MB Grill for my husband's birthday. The food was excellent, we didn't even have time to take pictures! We had appetizers of coconut shrimp and bacon wrapped shrimp - yummy!! I had the Surf and Turf filet and lobster tail - perfectly cooked, a definite melt in your mouth dinner. Hubby had Fishermen's Stew - there was so much Seafood in it - he took 1/2 home. Then my daughter had Harvest of the Sea which usually comes with marina sauce - which she doesn't eat and requested No sauce - Debbie our awesome waitress checked with the kitchen first before she completed her order and they made it with white wine sauce which she said was perfect and she brought some home too! We were so full, we decided against dessert, but I went over to ask Debbie if she could have a little bowl of ice cream to sing Happy Birthday and she was already making it. We recently dined here this past Friday with a 4:30pm reservation. We dine here approximately once a month or so. We were promptly seated at a table adjacent to the bar area. Overall the service was very good. It was not busy yet but they seemed a little short handed but it was okay. We ordered a couple of drinks then our main courses starting with a salad. The service remained consistent but it was when we finished our meals our plates were quickly cleared and the check was promptly dropped on the table in which I paid including a 20% tip over a $100. dollars. We were not offered dessert but we were considering ordering one to split. As the waitress came over she bluntly said to us "this table is reserved". It felt like she was asking us to leave. We had a reservation as well but we didn't know you could reserve a specific table. We didn't ask for this table, They just seated us here. Our total time from entering to exiting MB Grille was exactly 1 hour. I guess it was just a bizarre ending. read more

I'd give Riley 10 stars if I could. We visited the Simi Valley Market Broiler at 4 PM the day before Father's Day to celebrate my sister's birthday. It was my mom, my sister, my son, and me. The food was great, and although it was quiet when we arrived, it became very busy by the end of our meal. What truly stood out, though, was our waitress, Riley. She had the perfect balance that is honestly hard to find. She wasn't overly friendly or overbearing, but she also wasn't distant or robotic. She was simply genuine, attentive, calm, and incredibly thoughtful. Our table was a little chaotic at times. My mom accidentally spilled an entire glass of water all over the table, and Riley handled it with such grace and calmness that she immediately put everyone at ease. She never made us feel embarrassed or like we were inconveniencing her. Toward the end of the meal, my sister quietly snuck out because she didn't want anyone singing Happy Birthday to her, and my son went with her. Riley was so thoughtful that she packed up my son's ice cream (which we didn't even realize came with his meal) along with my sister's birthday sundae that we also didn't know was included. There was just something really special about her. Riley made us feel welcomed, cared for, and comfortable from beginning to end. We will absolutely be back, and Riley is a huge reason why. Love this place, especially when Shane is serving! We've been going to MB for a couple of years now and absolutely love their menu. They also have a nice happy hour and maybe some of the best burgers in LA (yes, at a fish house - weird). Anyway, we had the privilege of being serviced by Shane on our most recent visit and it was our absolutely best visit to MB yet. Not only did he recommend some new things to try, but kept visiting our table during a busy weekend lunch rush to see how it all was and if we needed anything additional. The food was bland and felt rushed. The service was terrible, we had to ask for everything. When we requested straws, the waitress simply tossed them on the table. We asked for bread, and she brought it out with our meals without saying a word. When we wanted to take food to go, she dropped off a container with no bag or anything else. On our way out, we asked for a bag, and she handed us a flat one without even attempting to open it or help. For a holiday weekend, the place was surprisingly dead.
