Fish and chips
George S.

Came to MB Grille for happy hour. The restaurant is quite large inside, they also have a large covered patio area outside. It's gets pretty busy during happy hour and on the weekends. We tried the Sweet and Spicy fried calamari, crispy and not spicy at all. We also tried the mussels, raw oysters, charbroiled oysters, Poke nachos, and the fish and chips. I especially liked the charbroiled oysters and Poke nachos. I enjoyed the pineapple mango margarita. They have other drinks I'm sure you'll enjoy. Staff and service were great. Very attentive and food came out quickly. Come by and have a great time during happy hour!

The best surf and turf I've had in a very long time. Great service on top of it.

Tried this place for the first time and loved it. Great parking , cozy place , we wanted a wedge salad was on point, the pickle shots was amazing, and our waiter, Shane was welcoming, friendly , down to earth we will be coming back!!!! Host was also welcoming , forgot her name . Apologies for that. Great spot to enjoy with friends.

Fettuccini Alfredo with Cajun seasoning!

Came here to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a party of about 10, and they assigned two servers to our table, which made the entire experience seamless and attentive. They start you off with complimentary sourdough bread, which was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Spring Fling cocktail--light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. For dinner, I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The filet was cooked beautifully, and the mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and so flavorful. My husband ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli, and our server suggested adding Cajun seasoning- such a great recommendation. It added so much depth and made the dish truly spectacular. Highly recommend this spot whether you're celebrating with a group or planning a date night. The ambiance is perfect for both.

The food was delicious and well prepared, with the lobster tails and grilled salmon being particularly good. They also make the best roasted Brussels sprouts! Service was excellent. The venue is spacious and offers outdoor dining, which is perfect during this time of year.

This place is quite good! The food is a bit pricey, but it's still pretty good. And the desserts? They're amazing, especially the lava cake, i've been getting it here for years.

Parmesan Crusted Halibut--so good!

We had a wonderful dinner here! The customer service was excellent - they were so sweet and attentive - and the food was top notch. We started with drinks and oysters, which were a big hit. We got the half order of the oysters from Washington and the other half of the Baja oysters. The bigger ones (Washington) have more of an ocean flavor/stronger, but my family loved them both, especially with lemon and a bit of horseradish on top. The staff was SO sweet--we had ordered only 6 and they accidentally gave us 12. They just comped it and let us have the extra 6. So kind! For drinks, got the smokin' Old Fashioned and the Mai Thai. Both delish! For dinner I had the Parmesan crusted Halbut--highly recommend! It was delightful; like chicken piccata only halibut. Super tender. My husband got the sesame seared Ahi tuna, which he said was fantastic. Even my son's kid's meal looked yummy! He got the California roll with a side of fries. Overall, this place will be one of our go-tos now. Fantastic service and excellent food! What more could you ask for?

Kids fettuccine and mashed potatoes

Food was great and service was very good. Our server was very attentive and polite and made sure to check on us every now and then. We tried the bone/in ribeye and fisherman's stew and both were very good although my steak was slightly overcooked past medium (more medium well) so I was only able to eat half of it. At the point I felt it was too late to complain about it but I'll come back and try it again as the rest of our order was very good.

I love MB grille. The food is delicious. The staff is nice and friendly. Bernie was our waiter? He could have come and checked on us a lot more than he did, but other than that, everything was great. We set out on the patio. It was a nice day, clear view of simi valley and they have happy hour from 1pm to 5 pm on saturday and sunday. During the week, I do believe it's 3 to 6, but you can always call and find out. Everyone loves a good deal, so come for happy hour. They also have daily specials monday through friday and specialty drinks. So if you're ever in Simi Valley, check them out.

Happy Hour Menu

Came here for their Happy Hour. This place reminds me of Lure and even the menu looks to be very similar. I do find the drinks here to be better, but their food is not up to par IMO. They do give you some sourdough bread to munch on while your food is being prepped. I like how fresh and soft it is in the middle. Would pair great with some chowder. We ordered the clam pot, wedge salad, raw oysters, chargrilled oysters, scallops sashimi and a lobster roll. The chargrilled oysters were just ok. The bread crumbs on top didn't really add to the dish. There was really no taste to it, just texture. The raw oysters were pretty good, though there was no mignonette sauce like how Lure servers their oysters. The scallops were pretty good, but very small amount of scallops. The wedge salad was fresh and pretty good with the ranch dressing I requested in place of blue cheese. It came with a couple of onion rings on it, but was a nice surprise. The clam pot was very meh, although you do get a good amount of clams, it wasn't very flavorful. It was just cooked in butter and wasn't even seasoned well. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but I do like their drinks and at $11.50, that's not too shabby.

Service was perfect. Our server was on top of everything and very nice. The food was okay. I thought the portion size was a bit small for the price and if you use a credit card they tack on an additional 2.75% which I think is ridiculous given the portion size. Searing was comfortable but it was a bit loud, not so loud that you could not hear someone but close to it.

Yes and a great happy hour.

Do they have a lot of Gluten Free items?

Hi Tom! Here are our NGA recommendations https://www.marketbroiler.com/_files/ugd/7c662d_a1cc737cdd674edbaf7fa88555e194a6.pdf

Are you still charging that 5% surcharge? If you are, we will not be dining with you.

Went Jan 23 and... no surcharge!

It's 5/21/22 Do they still have outdoor seating?

Hi Danielle! We are currently in the process of constructing a permanent patio. During the construction, outdoor seating will not be available. However, we are excited to offer outdoor seating again soon!

I recently heard that MB Simi Valley has a built in tip and charges a COVID fee. What does that mean and Is this so?

The fee's greed, nothing more. If they have excessive costs due to covid or employees wages, just raise the cost. They're taking advantage of the situation.

Are they open on Christmas Day?

No they will be close for Christmas

What is your corkage policy?

$10 per bottle on the restaurant. $20 per bottle in the Happy Hour section.

What time is happy hour?

Mon-Thurs 4pm-7pm Fri-Sat 3pm-7pm Sun All Day 😁

Do they open for lunch on week day and weekend?

My understanding is that they are only serving dinner now. Hours from 4:00 to 10:00 PM. I just tried calling (at 3:15) and no one answered the phone.

You'll hear many patrons describe this restaurant as a hidden gem. Believe them. From our observation, reservations are highly desirable and may prove necessary for weekend nights. The only seatings available when we called a day earlier were at 4:30 or after 7:00 PM. We took the earlier, and frankly are glad we did. We arrived at their unassuming storefront location as the first patrons of the day, were warmly greeted and immediately seated. From this moment forward, my wife and I agreed: If anyone hopes to run a highly successful small restaurant, Bella's Bistro is the template. Inside, the ambiance was tasteful with gentle background music at the absolutely perfect tempo and volume to allow for conversation. We found the furnishings, tableware and restroom immaculate. Fresh flowers and a candle adorned each table, and the decorations for Valentine's Day were just the right tone, conveying appeal without being garish. Kudos to the staff for getting it right on all of the above. Though I generally set expectations low for the wine list or bartending at a small establishment, Bella's features a diverse wine list and specialty cocktails that pair very well with their menu. Of particular note was the superb crafting of cocktails during our visit - again, exceeding our expectations. It was during cocktail service that we noticed the full-service bar tucked in the rear corner of the restaurant, offering barstool seating and counter service for those who may be so inclined. We shared a nicely prepared caesar salad, while enjoying the basket of varied breads. While refrigerated butter pats were provided in the basket, it would have been a tad easier and more appealing if a small container of whipped butter had been offered instead. Our entrees included their homemade ravioli as well as chicken parmigiana, the latter included a large perfectly crafted portion of chicken accompanied by perfectly prepared spaghetti. To say this restaurant knows how to make and served great pasta is in understatement, with the ravioli a choice to be savored. A simple cheesecake dessert topped off the evening. Though the restaurant was full as our meal ended, we never felt rushed or ignored. Service was at all times attentive but never overbearing. There was genuine interest in our enjoyment and satisfaction. We encourage you to try Bella's Bistro!

The other night we checked in for our reservation & the hostess proceeded to take us to our table. She initially took us to a table set for 6, meanwhile we were a party of 7, so she motioned for us to sit at the next table, which was set for 7 people. Upon walking to our table & pulling out our chairs, a man in a suit, who I presume was the manager, asked if we had been helped. He completely caught us off guard because we hadn't even sat down yet. I answered him yes, & then he proceeded to tell me that usually someone from the front would walk us to our table (as if we had just walked into the restaurant & sat ourselves). What?! I responded & told him the host did. In actuality, she walked us to the vicinity of our table, not right up to our table, but that's a discussion for him to have with the hostess. Being we were customers & this was a nicer restaurant in comparison to a more casual or fast food place, the way in which the manager confronted us & handled the situation was completely unprofessional. Anyways, the rest of our party soon joined us & after ordering drinks & a couple of appetizers, we ordered our food. Well, out of the 3 medium well steaks we ordered, all 3 were brought to us rare (red & much more raw inside than we prefer, or ordered). We sent all 3 back & when they came back, they were better, but still not medium well). This is surprising because being Larsen's is a steakhouse, I would think the cooks would be able to gauge the temperatures more accurately. Needless to say, the seasoning they use gives their steaks a delicious flavor, so we did enjoy that. Another issue we encountered was our waiter, although very nice, took the initiative of charging our party for extra kids chicken tenders, simply because our friends' daughters were sharing them & had asked for an extra plate. While that was a kind gesture, he should have asked their parents if they would like extra tenders, not just do it & then charge us. Also, my friend's husband ordered 2 sides with his prime rib, thinking it came with 2 sides. When the bill came it reflected the $10 additional side, so he asked the waiter about how it, to which the waiter responded that the menu clearly states that it only comes with one side. I understand that & our friend's husband clearly didn't see that (nor did we pay attention when he ordered it, we were talking), but typically in cases like this, the waiter would let the person know that they would be happy to accommodate their request, but that the extra side will be an additional charge. After being at the restaurant for over 2 hours between the slow service, issues with our steaks, & discrepancies over the additional charges (which the waiter did take care of), we left a little less than satisfied with the restaurant, & the waiter was clearly not happy with us. Although the waiter took care of everything, not once did the manager come back to our table to apologize or ask how everything was. Usually when there's an issue, the manager will stop by the table to check in. I don't know that we'll be returning to this location.
