It's a small, cramped, dark neighborhood hardware store. With outstanding service. Kind employees. Good selection, and if they don't have it, they will tell you where you may try next. They will carry anything you buy to your car if you need the help. read more

I checked online first where the product I wanted (double strength window glass) was $39 and that 14 were instock. Arriving later in the day more than one employee was aware that they no longer carry window glass. Confused, I checked my phone, to be sure I had the correct ACE. Returning to the service desk hoping to find an employee who cared that I had traveled across town to get what was clearly meant to be in the store according to the app. The employee made no note or acted at all concerned that I had been misled and that she would fix the problem so no one else might be misled? If the job is "customer service" they seem to think a customer who has taken the time to go online and confirm their inventory, it's not their problem. I think a human being who doesn't understand customer service is a problem. read more

Stopped by Mayson Ace Hardware with the hubby the other day. From the outside it doesn't look very big. When you get inside, you'll see the store is very deep. Those aisles go on forever. It's nice that there's a neighborhood hardware store nearby for the folks that live in the Bullard and Marks area. The guy at the front register and the guy who helped my hubby with something he was after were both very nice. Lots of stuff there, even home decor and seasonal items. Purchased the wrong item at the NE ace store, tried to return the item to the dog garden ace and purchase the correct item of equal or greater value and was told I could not return the item to that store and would need to return it to the NE store. Ok, but when I go back to the NE store they said the fig garden store should have accepted the return. read more

Mayson Ace Hardware on the Fig Garden Loop is franchise owned & conveniently nestled in my community. Great if you want to find a common part or garden supply. HOWEVER, your going to pay a MUCH HIGHER price for it than the larger store on Champlain. Yesterday, Champlain Ace ran out of their 10 pound bag of Annual Rye Grass. A 10 pound bag sells for only $14.99. Mayson Ace puts their seeds in clear plastic bags & sells a 3 POUND bag for $12.99 - turning an approximately $15 bag into a $40 bag! Mayson Ace does not price-match either. That is quite a profit margin . I don't mind paying a little more for convenience, but this is over the top. Champlain has another seed shipment this weekend. Save your hard-earned money! read more

It's a local community hardware store with personal service...it's not a super-store full of new bees. To the whining-Nattering Nabobs: If you want to low-ball or nit-pick go somewhere else. So this store is closed when you go in person. But youre still able to order items for pick up. Why is that I wasnt aware this store was not an open store untill i showed up to get my order. It was the closest one to where i needed to go at the time. Doesnt show online this store is closed and no one works there. What an inconvience. Called the corporate office and the woman I spoke with tried calling it says she didnt know that one is closed either. Why is a closed store an option to purchase from online for in store pick up when you cant even get in the store. The enterance has shelves of merchandise in front of them. Love Ace Hardware. I'm a native Chicagoan & my choice of hardware there was always Ace. It may not be as big as some other stores, but they have everything I'm looking for & some things the big stores don't have. Customer service is great - always someone to help - they actually ask if they can help you find anything. So I don't have to go looking for an employee for 1/2 hour to help as in the big stores. This store is one of the best hardware stores around. It isn't the largest, but it has by far the best and most helpful staff one could hope for. This is a very small store with not a large selection, but it is also not very busy so if you have any questions they are more than happy to help. They don't have all the items the big stores have and that is kind of a bother because your number of options is limited. The one really good thing I witnessed was a customer came in to the store and had a plumbing question and the clerk was knowledgeable and explained the store had most of the parts but a few specialty items and that the man could go to a plumbing store in another part of town and get all the items in one place. That was the right thing to do instead of trying to sell the man just a few parts and then sending him somewhere else. read more

I generally prefer this type of smaller, locally owned hardware store over the Gigantic Monstrosities such as lowes and the home depot, while the big stores might have a larger selection, most of the time, you can find what you need here. If you need help, the friendly staff will always be willing to help you find what you need. Most of the time I don't even need to ask, they ask me when I walk in. Another thing that I like about this place is that they still have the Bins and bins of loose nuts and bolts and screws and things, very well organized by size and type. I don't want to have to buy a whole box of bolts when I only need one or two, here, you can do that. read more

I love the idea of a local business having owned one myself here in Fresno for 37 years before retiring. Since opening, the store's inventory has increased significantly over the years. Now it is rare for me to go there and not find what I want. It has become a custom to go there first before the big stores. They are a small store, but they carry almost everything you need. I walked in to find a leaf raker and the shop assistant helped me right away and was very good at recommending the right tool just for me. The customer service is superb, don't be intimidated by the small size. read more

I stumbled upon this Ace Hardware store tucked back in the south west corner of Bullard and Marks Next to the public library.They had everything I needed, and were extremely pleasant and helpful. You can get your items cheaper and a big box store, but ever try and ask someone at Home Depot or worst WalMart a question. They have such a high rate of turnover you can't get an answer. I have used their pool service for two years. We recently took a look at our filter baskets and they were falling apart and had all kinds of stuff in them, including it being sucked into the pump, causing it to have little to no power. I had my water tested today and learned that they have been only pouring in liquid chlorine and nothing else, causing my numbers to be extremely high. I now have to drain my pool. We have been complaining for a while about the guy never showing up and/or only spending 5 minutes doing whatever he was doing. This company has been ripping me off for two years and the owners never even bothered to call me or anything. Terrible service and terrible company. read more

AND... today, Thursday, at the counter, the owner asked if I was over 60 (I'm 74 - nice question) and said that every Thursday over 60 gets a tax discount (8.2%)... How great is that???? had to replace the timer in my pool motor clock. called another pool company, who was going to call me back, and never heard from them (Pool Mart). so since I'd purchased pool supplies from the Mayson folks, thought I'd get an estimate. called, the estimate was significantly less than Pool Mart, and they could do it right away - he even called to see if he could come early. showed up, fixed the timer, and told me the labor would only be $25 instead of the $50 he quoted cause "it was easy". how often does that happen?????? will use them in the future for all my pool care. read more
