Staff are really nice and very helpful here! They didn't even make me feel dumb when I was asking for a few products and suggestions for my home projects that I'm currently working on. They never made me feel like I couldn't do my project because I am a woman. I got everything that I needed here compared to the bigger hardware stores. Most of the time at the bigger hardware stores, some employees do not know how to help me and really could care less to help me find what I need. Which then leaves me frustrated a lot of the time. TO: IAN WILLIAMS CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER OF FRESNO AG Don't waste your time going to the Fresno Ag Celebration during the weekend of June 5 - 7, 2026! You will encounter 2 employees working under the orange tent who are issuing the miniature hot dogs but acting as POLICE who won't issue hot dogs until they ensure that you have gone shopping inside the store, purchase something, and then exit the store. I have never seen such a shenanigan in which a store like Fresno Ag monitors customers before they issue one single hot dog to a customer once they have exited the store. This was quite deceiving on the part of the management and COO IAN. The public was also notified via the media and social media that cinnamon rolls were going to be provided free of charge to the customers. However, Fresno Ag's CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER- IAN WILLIAMS- stated that there was miscommunication between the store and the Cinnamon rolls business. Instead, customers were charged for eating cinnamon rolls. This is totally unacceptable to have the business inform people (via the local TV media and social media) that cinnamon rolls were going to be provided free of charge when instead they deceived the public, and the customers were charged. In the future, please don't have those 2 employees work under the tent. The male employee had a mouth on him and used unacceptable language reflective of the business, Fresno Ag. Also, STOP BEING CHEAP and policing the hot dogs issued to the customers! There were no safe areas to eat the hot dogs in the heat! YOU FAILED THE PUBLIC AND THE CUSTOMERS by policing the hot dogs issued by those 2 Fresno Ag employees and for charging customers for the cinnamon rolls! I had a very pleasant experience in the Nursery/Garden section at Fresno Ag on First Street. I was greeted by Darlene. She was kind and informative. I am grateful for Fresno Ag when spring comes and I am planning my vegetable garden. They are the only store that offers vegetable plants in the pony pack. This allows me to plant what I need and also share with my neighbors. Darlene answered questions about the plants and let me know when certain plants would be arriving. I made a request for the yellow tomato (Lemon Boy). She let me know the date it would arrive and I received a text the day before to remind me. There were also two other employees, a young man and young lady who were also helpful and kind if not cheerful. This kind of knowledgeable personalized service is rare. They might not have everything like the big box stores, but what they do have is some of the best staff that will advise you on any project you have and walk you through things step by step. Every time I've been here, the store has been clean, and for anything I wasn't able to find, the staff were able to direct me to where I could find it. Have been taking my elderly grandparents to this store for years 90% of the time usually the gardening department. Today my Hispanic grandfather needed a pipe from the plumbing department asked the worker old white man with white hair for help, he said he was going to help him then proceeded to take a phone call and instead of putting them on hold and helping the paying customer in front of him, he decided to get on his computer take over 3 minutes to help the person on the phone. Hangs up the phone then answers another phone call right after and doesn't say anything to us and gets on his computer again and after 5 mins of standing there we took off and I told him he was a joke. The gentleman at the very front counter to your left upon entering helped me find the department I was looking for (plumbing). Happy I came to Fresno Ag for a key copy instead of the typical Wal-Mart or Home Depot. This particular trip was a quick in and out, but I love Fresno Ag. Their staff is always friendly and helpful, and you can always find one around! They also have a huge variety of Hardware, Gardening, and home products! You could honestly find some great gifts here, so much to look around at, but the store size is more manageable than a Lowes or Home Depot. This may mean that you have some issues with product availability, however, my husband frequents this store for air filters, pool supplies and other household related items and he always finds what he needs. Great store. Easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. The staff is awesome! Upbeat attitudes and always willing to help. I like to get potting soil here- they have a large variety and decently priced, a good variety of plant food and fertilizers as well. The indoor plant selection has something for everyone. Plant species from Philendrons, Pothos, crotons, ferns, Hoyas, arrowhead vines, Cala lilys, marantas and calatheas just to name some I came across. The outside foliage is stocked with lots perennials and flowers to choose from. I recommend shopping local and checking Fresno ag for landscaping or hardware needs. read more

My family moved to Fresno in 1960 when I was 10 and I've been impressed with Fresno Ag now for 64 years! Today, I brought in a bathroom faucet hot water handle with the cartridge that wasn't working. Sig, in plumbing spent about half an hour making sure that everything was correct. He cleaned all the old parts with a wire brush and did everything that I would have paid a plumber a couple of hundred dollars to do. I know that when I need some help with a home project, Fresno Ag is the place to go to get consistently knowledgeable people to help me out. read more

This is the most painful review I've ever chosen to write. I've been shopping at Fresno Ag for over 50 years. When I was a child my mother would take me into the old location at Gettysburg and Blackstone. The wind chime display was my favorite - it was magical. The house I live in has dozens of wind chimes and the vast majority are from Fresno Ag. During the pandemic I was making one of my near weekly trips to Fresno Ag for some of the plethora of things I buy there. As I approached the door the chalk board "Face Masks Required" sign had been altered, presumably by a customer. The "e" was erased and the "c" was changed to a "g." I assumed this was a one off and it would be caught by an employee if not by end of day certainly when they brought the sign inside at night. I returned three days later and the sign had been unchanged. I picked it up and carried it inside to the office. I stated to the woman at the desk, "as a gay man who shops here regularly could you please fix this sign?" The woman behind the desk didn't apologize but stated someone must have done that and she'd have it fixed. Today I went in to exchange a BB gun I had purchased a few weeks ago because it was defective. Everyone was great. The exchange was easy. The customer service here is awesome. But it's clear they only want certain customers. In the gun shop is a rack presenting gun mats with 10 different designs for customer's to choose from. Mats are rolled so one can't see the full design. They range from gun rights to blue line to red line to totally apolitical (I believe). They chose to only display one mat. The "Let's Go Brandon" mat. They had 10 designs to choose from. They could have displayed all of them but they chose only to display one and it's "F#^@ Joe Biden." Don't get me wrong. I'm not upset they sell this item. They should sell it. It's an option and its money coming in. This is about choosing it as the sole display example. Why would a store choose to display just THIS ONE mat. Then I remembered the "F@g Masks Required" sign and how long it stood in front of the store. This store doesn't want my business. The masks sign they can claim ignorance on for one day but not four. The "F$#% Joe Biden" euphemism was consciously and deliberately selected from amongst 10 designs to be the one they would display. None of the employees thought it was a bad idea? No one said anything? They must all feel this way. Or they're in the minority in the store and afraid to say anything. I know what it's like being a minority and being scared. Fresno Ag is choosing sides and making sure their customer's know about it. I am clearly not welcome there and they clearly do not want me in there spending money. I left today after exchanging my BB gun rather than finishing my shopping at Fresno Ag. I drove to Lowe's (where I hate to spend money because most of it leaves the community) and spent over $150. It would have surely been a $200 purchase at Fresno Ag where prices are higher but I historically felt good about spending that extra. Now I don't feel safe there. I feel unwelcome. They did, after all, on two occasions make conscious choices to alienate me and virtue signal that I'm not welcome there. I will not be going back. After 50 years Fresno Ag has made it clear they no longer want me in their store. They do not want my "fa@@ot" money. They do not want money from anyone who may feel differently than they do. Sad to see a Fresno tradition and icon choose to advertise their bias and deliberately alienate a huge swath of the population. I'm not mad about any of this. I'm sad. Depressed even. I was having a hard time ordering a patio set online and Ian not only helped me but also got me the online sales price and arranged the delivery and assembly of the set. Employee Mike Mendoza Poor customer service! I purchased an ACE item was told it would be replaced. Darlene the manager of lawn and garden ordered the replacement that she looked up in her computer the day I was there and said when it comes in next week she will call me, she called me today. I made the trip back out to pick it up. Then was told by employee Mike Mendoza he was not replacing it. He said he could not find this ACE branded item in his system, Strange that Darlene did? its stamped ACE on the handle she looked it up and already ordered a replacement for me. I was there today to pick it up. Mike said this was his decision as he was the store manager in which he is not as I know this to be true. Mike needs re-training in customer service. WOW! He didn't care at all. Mike has no customer service skills. Darlene apologized to me for Mikes issues. She said she will have the owner/ store manager call me. I look forward to speaking with him. I purchased a keyed lock and after 2 days it didn't work. I went back for an exchange but they refused to change it then asked me if I beat it with a hammer. I told them "does the item looked like it was hammered? it is new!" then the gentleman that I purchased it from came and recognize me and told the cashier to give me a new one. there is too many places I can go without this kind of hassle. I do my business now with national hardware, it is a longer drive for me but it is well worth it. read more

Home during COVID- one of the COVID unemployed so I had plenty of time on my hands. I needed a few things for my next project and my normal hardware store didn't have it. Called the other bigbox which also didn't have what I needed. Annoyed, I googled a local hardware store and called Fresno Ag. Took a moment to understand what I was looking for, but "oh yeah, we have those" was the eventual answer so hop into my car and here we go. Everyone is wearing masks, spots on the floor for distancing, one way entrance and exit, plexiglass for the cashiers and the lady I spoke to said she feels lucky to work with so many people who believe in science. I love that, because other businesses' employees don't tell me the same thing. There seems to be a lot of pushback in this area, so I feel obligated to point it out for those who care. They will make you wear a mask, they control the number of people in the store so you may have to stand in line a minute. Be prepared, and I would suggest extra kindness and compassion will go a long way. The items in the store seem well priced, I was in a bit of a hurry and I wasn't trying to linger. I did find a little pile of ladybugs for the backyard garden, which I haven't seen "off season" since I moved to Fresno. That shows a dedication to organic gardening and I love that too. Finally, I was concerned about where (in which political coffer) my money may end up in, so I emailed and asked. I got a response the next day, and was relived to find that they don't make political contributions. Rather, they reinvest in the community (Think: Valley Children's Hospital, employee reinvestment) so my money will stay here. I *really* love that. So, lifetime customer here. read more
