I recently visited Ace Hardware on Champlain Drive in Fresno and was very disappointed with the level of customer service I received. While searching for a specific item, I approached several employees for assistance. Rather than taking a moment to help or walk me to the product, I was simply pointed toward the other side of the store and left to continue searching on my own. One of the reasons customers choose a neighborhood hardware store over a large box retailer is the expectation of knowledgeable, helpful service. Unfortunately, that was not my experience during this visit. I felt ignored and unimportant as a customer. Based on this experience, this will likely be my last visit to this location. Customer service is what keeps people coming back, and if improvements are not made, I believe the store will continue to lose loyal customers. read more

I have been coming here for a long time. So a week ago I was going to buy something that needed brought down from a shelf, the employee complained walked away, I left after I waited and purchased at Lowe's. Today I wanted a key made I asked an employee who was walking by he rudely told me he was helping someone else. I did hear him radio that someone wanted a key made. 10 minutes and no one came. Gosh darn it, was a bit disappointed with service all around on my shopping trip to this Ace Hardware. I have 2 other Ace Hardwares much closer but always enjoyed this store. Went out to garden section looking for a plant, no one around to help. Walked back to front of store, interrupted 2 young ladies (employees) visiting. One said there's the garden guy over there. Asked him about what I was looking for, he acted a bit out of shape & was just rude- excuse me stores are closing left & right. We're coming in in-person paying for your paycheck. I placed an online order for store pickup and due to inventory it was shipped and some issues occurred. When i took the item into the store the mgr (Cheryl) came to assist. Long story short, the young lady at customer service and store mgr were exceptional and friendly in correcting the issue much easier than the national customer service ctr said needed to be done. Please support this Ace Hardware location. The store staff always helps with questions about products and appear to be happy to do so, not irritated like so many other places. This is my go-to store for so many things, and the service is always very professional and courteous. No matter what your home needs are this store will be able to help. Parking is never a problem and normally your space is close to the door and big enough for larger vehicles such as pickups. Call me old fashioned, but I love a good hardware store. This place is walking distance to my new place and I am always grateful for the items I pick up here at a good price without being overwhelmed by crowds. Today I went in to make an extra key for visiting family members. The cashiers are always friendly and directed me to the key folks. There was a great selection of cute keys. They cut them fast and we were out the door in about 5 minutes, tops. Here's what's funny - I am old fashioned because the young people I got the keys for don't have wallets or purses. Everything is on their phone. So I'm not sure if these keys will get used, but the helpful hardware folks at Ace were perfect. read more

Customer service and employees were all very kind and friendly, however there was a USED meth pipe in the parking lot and when I went into report it so they could move it I was appalled to hear they already knew about it and their manager didn't wanna deal with the issue. Like you are a hardware store, I know you have trash grabbers so YOU could through it away or at least call the police to remove it just feels kinda lazy on managements part, especially since ace hardware claims to be a "helpful place" like help the community by picking up the literal meth pipe in front of your door. read more

customer service is AMAZING here. so are their prices. they have a great selection of plant pots, fountains & soil for succulents, tropicals, etc. but their plant selection is pretty small. they had the usual pothos, spider plant, cactus/succulent variety but nothing out of the ordinary. read more

I mourned the loss of this location's previous occupant....so it took some time before I was willing to try out Ace. I was thrilled to find that but for some upgrades, the store is the same and better than what it replaced! From kitchen gadgets to a massive variety of cleaning supplies, pet supplies, seasonal decore and garden needs, this is a great place with tons of great finds! The garden center is also filled with beautiful plants and decore. Check your plants carefully as I purchased some with hungry green worms included. I went back today and observed many of their plants with signs of caterpillar damage. If you choose poorly, they have organic and stronger pest control solutions available as well. I am glad to have found this place, bugs and all....and will be back. read more

I went online Friday morning to place an order for a Traeger smoker. I bought at as a donation for a local non profit to raffle off as a fund raiser. At check out it gave me the option of same day delivery for $50, as well as next day for $25. I called and confirmed that the group could receive the order Saturday and placed the order. Saturday morning, I received a call from Jaden, letting me know that deliveries are typically only done a couple days a week and not on Saturday. I explained the situation and he said he thought he might be able to have it delivered on Sunday. Instead, I called the person taking delivery and they decided to pick it up. I called Jaden back and let him know they would be picking it up and he told me he would make sure that I was reimbursed for the delivery fee and we hung up. I went on with my day expecting to see it post Monday or Tuesday as it's the weekend and no one likes working on a Saturday. Several hours later I received a follow up phone call from Jaden to let me know that the refund had been completed and to provide me with a confirmation number. This kind of customer service is almost unheard of but very much appreciated. read more

Looking for a particular Weber grill is like trying to find TP during COVID-19. Home Depot allegedly had the grill at two Fresno locations... nope. Found this place. Made a call and they set one aside for me, though I didn't get my hopes up. When I got there the guy loaded it up in the cart and it was the right one! They even applied my military discount! Bought a grill cover as well. They had a great selection of BBQ wood, but was out of oak. Guy called me the same day to tell me wood was in! Though out of my way, this will be my future go to for BBQ stuff! read more

I recall when Orchard was going to close I thought oh we're going to lose a close convenient place. But now that Ace is there after numerous visits in the past years they have stepped up and definitely have a variety of items with great customer care. Common complaint might be prices are high but also think about the convenience of going in and getting what you need instead of staggering around the large discount places where the employees avoid you if you need help. I took in a paint sample, that I purchased at a different store. Kate, in the paint department, waited on me. She listened to me describing what I needed, as I didn't want a "blue" base of the grey I chose. Grey can be tricky. She matched the color perfectly!!! I have to tell you, I will ONLY go to ACE Hardware for all of my painting needs and will only have Kate wait on me. I'm sure the others are good, however, since I had such a great experience, Kate is the one I wholeheartedly recommend. read more

I have defended this place from complaints on my next door app because I love the convenience of the smaller store versus large chain hardware stores where I spend half my time looking for something in a huge warehouse & walking around feeling forgotten, and I love the employees at Ace (so very gracious & helpful). I just have to give a good review today. I had bought a Stihl hedge trimmer (asked my kids for a Mother's Day present, actually) last year. I wanted battery operated & light-weight because I can't life very heavy items. It was 5 lbs & perfect! But it suddenly stopped working; it seemed jammed. I walked in ready to buy a new one, but decided to ask the employee what he thought. The next size was more expensive & I wasn't sure I could handle the added weight cuz it used a large battery. He offered to bring one out & let me try it. Yeah, the next model was too heavy. He said my old one sounded like it needed cleaning & sold me a can of lubricant/cleaner & told me to try it first. He spent a good 15 minutes with me going over all my options. He wasn't pushy & was friendly & attentive. Omg, I forgot to check his name badge!, so sorry I can't thank you by name. I bought the can, sprayed & waited overnight. Wiped it off & it's back to working perfectly. I really appreciate your employee, Ace, and your store! I've had good experiences every visit - looking for nuts & bolts; sprinkler heads, critter repellents, a variety of things. Paying extra, as I told the Next Door app people, is worth it to me for the kindness & understanding I get for trying to do my part as the "semi-handywoman" of the house. Thank you! I absolutely love this place and find myself here multiple times a week. It is one of the only remaining hardware stores where you can find super nice people who are available to help with whatever you need. There are often people walking around asking everybody if they are doing okay or if they need help which youd never see at a big box hardware store. The employees are nice, knowledgeable, and willing to spend time suggesting methods or products for your project. They even have other cool services here like window screen repair and knife sharpening. They are very dog friendly and will often give your doggo a treat when you walk in the door! They have multiple isles of high qualify pet food, treats, and toys which is super fun. I find prices are a little higher than other stores but VERY close once you use your rewards points and coupons in the app. And for the atmosphere and customer service I am definitely willing to pay more to do business here. read more

I have been in this store and the staff has been marginally helpfull but today it took 3 calls talking to a young woman and young man before I gave up on trying to communicate as the giggle hold side conversations and are unable to enunciate into the mouthpiece for effective communication, going elsewhere. read more
