Awful experience. I bought my truck in to get wheels rotated and balanced for my 2007 Chevy Avalanche, the price was reasonable. The following day I drove to Houston on arrival to the hotel I noticed my left front hub cap (which requires a hex screw to tighten) was missing. When I got back to Killeen I addressed the Mayo manager he allowed me to go to the shop and talk to the tech who did the work. The tech said said the cap was not left in the shop and that he had tightened it down correctly, which I doubt. Then I was told by the manager it was probably stolen. I couldn't be the excuses he was giving me. I told him I have been going to Discount and NTB for over 6 years with no issues and the same rims and had no issues like this. He then said if I could find the the cap he would refund me. It took me 2 weeks online to find it cause I bought them in 2010, which hard to locate and were discontinued. When it came there was another week for delivery. But the manager did cut a $70 check for it, but I could see the negative attitude from him thru the whole process. They don't understand the frustration of trying to find this cap online and the embarrassment associated with riding around with a missing piece on my wheel, it was an eyesore. I refused to drive my truck til it was replaced. Never again, poor quality of work as far as checking thier results after the work is done. And oh by the way after my trip to Houston the balance was off again and the Vibration came back. Awful work. Discount corrected it. read more

I currently have to get my windshield replaced after a new breakage and I'm informed of the amateur replacement done previously by Mayo Autoworks a few years ago. In the process of removing the original factory windshield, the frame was scratched and is now rusting (which might have been prevented if they actually replaced the gasket, instead of trying to make one out of sealant ). So, now it has to be repainted before the windshield can be replaced. I stopped by their office to see what could be done to make things right and was told the person who handles that was off that day and will call me. Everyone I've dealt with there has an attitude like they're doing me a favor. Almost two weeks later and still no call (which doesn't surprise me). If I could leave no stars I would. I took in my wife's car that was making a noise in the front end that anyone could clearly hear whether inside or outside of the car. They had the car for 3 days, told us they heard nothing wrong with it. Went on a ride with them, then someone said "oh that noise?" And told me it was no issue. We ended up paying the diagnostic fee for this even though they hadn't helped with our situation. Took the car back home to my father in law who has been working on cars his whole life and has his own garage. Immediately he knew it was the control arms and it was fixed within 2 days. My husband and i took in our 98 chevy. We had just replaced the motor and hooked almost everything up but the transmission and the radiator. we couldn't figure out the power issue so we took it in and told them to make it run bare minimum. We called the next day to receive nothing but bad news. they told us that they had finished tightening the engine to the trans and installed the radiator. They also said the positive battery terminal is loose, so they repaired that bringing power on. They said they had turned it over once and it "locked". We paid just short of $600 for such little work. When we brought it back home my husband was furious and did some checking. We drained the oil to find out that there was gasoline mixed in with it. "A LOT OF GASOLINE" and they used a different bolt for the positive terminal OF WHICH THEY USED AN IMPACT DRILL TO TIGHTEN IT INTO THE BATTERY STRIPPING THE BOLT "rounding it off" AND THE INSIDE OF OUR NEW BATTERY!!! ALSO, THE ENGINE IS NOT LOCKED ITS VAPOR LOCKED. NEXT TIME ANYONE GOES IN THERE I WOULD BE ASKING TO SEE ALL OF THE MECHANIC LICENSES FROM EACH INDIVIDUAL THAT WILL BE WORKING ON YOUR VEHICLE. the only thing they did right was fasten the engine to the trans and install the radiator. They told us they radiator would be an hours worth of work, i find it hilarious considering it can be done in 10- 15 minutes at home. These people are rip offs and can only perform simple tasks like changing a tire. we will NEVER go here again. read more

Went to Mayo #2 to have a bad front wheel bearing replaced with my own parts... Tech did a good job completing in the two hours promised and for the estimated price which was very reasonable. Next day had a scrapping noise from the replaced bearing wheel and went back. They said they would take a look and found a dust cover was scrapping, readjusted the cover for no charge, and fixed the problem. Only complaint I have is the Tech over-torqued the lug nuts with an impact wrench and stripped them. Had to pound a socket on each nut to remove and each was way too tight. Ended up replacing the lug nuts. Also, because of all the suspension off and on to replace bearing, the Toe/Camber were way out causing some steering problems and I believe Mayo should of advised me the need of a wheel alignment; I found a place with a Alignment price special to fix. read more

Really annoyed at this place...got it towed there and ran a diagnostic for $150...then told me what's wrong and it will be an additional $600...for a new starter...r u crazy?? Got the starter at auto zone for $130 and had a friend help...so I gave them a free $150 for nothing....super upset, then they kinda told me good luck as I pushed my car off their lot...no help or discount... After dropping my car off at firestone 9/20/13 for a 12:00 for an oil change and at 5:30 my car had not been touched after calling at 4:30 for them to tell me my car was next to be in the bay. Took advantage of me, asian military wife with little knowledge of vehicles, i can see why their rating are so low. I had back seat light that wouldnt turn off, they charged me $108 to remove it (took 2 minutes to unscrew bulb, that's it!) , offered me to fix it for an additional $100. My fault for not knowing much about vehicles, but military husband was flying home that day after being gone for months. Shame on them, whatever happened to small military communities taking care of each other? I tried to ask them why it cost so much to unscrew the bulb but they weren't really interested in assisting me other than to take my money. read more

I wish I could give less than one start for this review. To start, I took my 1996 Honda Accord to Mayo once before and they seemed honest about the what it would cost to fix an exhaust issue. They quoted approximately 700-800$ from what I can remember. When I told them that was out of my price range for a car I barely drive (I work from home), they said I might be better off going to a muffler shop and they recommended one that would do it for 300$ because that is what they specialize in. That honest experience made me come back. This past two weeks, I started driving my car more often. My hood would not latch and my brakes were making a scratching noise. I took it in and spoke with "George." If you ever go to Mayo, please be aware, George is like the shady salesman you want to avoid. He insisted that my latch would cost 55$ to fix and the brakes would be 460$ (approximately). I notified him that at the time I don't want to spend this much on this car, because a) I might consider buying another one in 6 months anyway, and b) I don't drive it often enough to justify spending that much at once. He said the latch was so important that I should fix it immediately and he would even knock down the price to 30$ because he thought it was a safety issue. I agreed to have him do the latch, and the front brake pads for a total of 265$. I had no idea what to expect in terms of costs and I should have shopped around or called my mechanic from back home. I also should have trusted my better judgment that when a guy says "I'll give you special pricing because of the situation" it doesn't always end well for my wallet. When George explained that the latch needed to be cleaned up, I told him that my neighbor had tried to help me (my husband was on a short deployment at the time) and de-greased the latch for me. He said he would clean it up, and I told him I didn't want to pay for something that I could easily do on my own. He insisted it would fix the problem. Fast forward to yesterday afternoon. I went for an oil change and they notified my my hood would not close properly. I got out of the car and explained, "that's funny, it should. I just got it fixed." They asked me where I went to get it fixed and I told them Mayo. They laughed and said you should probably get your money back then. I called Mayo this morning and they had me speak with George himself. He said "I told you that was a temporary fix," when I explained I was frustrated that I paid to get this issue fixed. He then said "they must have mishandled it at the oil change shop." Really? The oil change shop, the one that opens/closes hoods all day long somehow mishandled it? I think it shows a lack of integrity on George's part to try to blame his shady faulty workaround on the oil change shop. He said he told me at the time it was temporary and then I explained that at the time I said "why would I pay to just clean this up, when I can do that at home with a de-greaser?" He put me on hold and came back and said "the best I can do is change your cable out, but I'd charge you parts and labor." I told him that was not going to happen, because after all, who knows how much he would charge me and if he would even fix the problem. I told him I was going to write this review and submit a report to the better business bureau. He told me "call back when the owner is here, his name is Junior. You can talk to him." Overcharged for incompetent work. After spending $1400 and they worked on my truck for two weeks at both shops on the loop. The mechanics did not do the repairs to standard and management were barely willing to do the bare minimum to complete any repairs. The manager became a lawyer when I had return my truck after driving it ten miles and having my service engine light come back on and the vehicle having a coolant leak; the manager clearly wrote a disposition on my receipt clearly stating that after paying them hard earned money that Mayo does not stand behind the work they do and that there is no warranty. read more

The members were very welcoming, respectful and nice to get you in through the door. Now when it came to getting me out the door all that went out the window. It turned into a "this is my shop and you cant come and tell me what i can and cannot do" situation. The day prior i passed by and got what they call a rough estimate, i was told the job on my vehicle was going to be between $150.00 - $180.00, when the job was completed i was told i had to pay $256.00. There are things that come with the job and that is included in the job pricing and all, but when your reason for charging me all that money is because your telling me that now those things have to be paid for individually, well that is just ridiculous. There is no legitimate system in which they base their prices on, because they look at how much the hours on the job is and then decide to add $50.00 - $150.00 depending on what they see fit to take from you. The guy Jake or the ''Joker'' assuming responsibility for the shop, when questioned about the price became aggressive, disrespectful, and unprofessional to me the customer trying to get a reason and explanation in why the estimate given to me was so off of the actual price. His solution while cutting me of every time i tried to speak was for me to give him $200.00 and that i should look at that and take it basically telling me to shut up because according to him he was doing me a favor. I am a soldier here in fort hood, now by that think about those soldiers that are really struggling and they are trying to take the few dollar to keep their car running. What is going to happen when they are given a price on a job or like they say a rough estimate and then the price magically shoots up just because they see it fit. Now that soldier or civilian cant pay his or her car. I live a few blocks from the shop and they took me in ''MY'' car to my house because i ask to, and then brought me back when it was done. How is this a favor when your using my own car and gas and i live about a minute and a half from the shop. This was the "Joker" telling me that he was doing this to me as a favor. If this is really a favor i guess that the call to let me know my car is done should be something they should have charged me for also. This is ridiculous and I am clearly not recommending this location to anyone who wishes to not go through this experience. I hope that this review can help if you are trying to get your car fixed. By the way this is why i feel strongly about all this. I currently a soldier but before i joined the service i went to school for automotive worked at an auto shop and also worked at one of the Mercedes Dealers in NYC. In both of those place low end and high end, you get an on the dot set price including the taxes and all. There is no reason why this cannot be done here also. The system in place for hourly job pricing is there and all you need to do is add the store fee and taxes to that. The reason they refuse to give you a set price is because they want to hold the upper hand in being able to add a few or a significant amount of money extra for the job. I took my vehicle to this place for a vehicle inspection to renew my registration and decided I would buy new tires while there. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The tires were ordered and I would return the following day to have them installed as they said the tires would be in that next morning. Everything seemed ok until the next day when I was pulling up to the shop a pitbull ran out into the street in front of my vehicle, and me being a dog and extreme pitbull lover I pulled over and got out to call the dog over and he was more than happy to come to me even jumped in my vehicle. Here's where it got interesting a gentleman later to be known as the actual owner of mayos comes full speed at me ready to fight and accuse me of stealing his dog. I tried to reason with him that I was just trying to keep the dog from running out into Stan Schlueter and that I was not going to steal the dog. Even went as far as telling him that I was in fact pulling into the shop to continue my business with his company. I get it you're passionate about your dog it was a very beautiful blue pitbull. I would be upset as well I am a pitbull owner and I care very much for my dogs and have had my very own stolen from my backyard however this guy was ready to fight me from the get go and called me a thief even after I explained I i was actually already a customer of his but no matter he was in such a rage calling me a young punk and thief. I almost felt as if I was going to have to stand my ground and defend myself from him as well as his employees who the very previous day were nothing but professional and courteous calling me sir and thanking me for my business. They surrounded me and told me to leave the location but I was adamant about receiving a full refund for he purchased tires and I would never return. I'm only telling this story to state the already obvious that the way the owner handled himself was unprofessional and that in hindsight I should have just not even got out of my vehicle. I'm sure his dog would have been just fine running out into the traffic of Stan Schlueter. I found out later from another mechanic they actually sell used tires to customers stating they are new so I guess it's better that this happened I went to Walmart and saved 50 dollars when actually mayos said they price matched Walmart go figure. Gave me recommendation that didnt feel like the usual let us do whatever and take all ur money. Reasonable price, felt it could be cheaper, but people gotta eat. Saw Mayo sr. Outside. Also friendly. I really gave them a chance but I was let down again and again. They quoted me 198.00 for a new battery. We went to O'Reillys and got it for 107.00! They told me I needed new tires which would have ran me about 450, I took my car elsewhere and they told me all my car needed was balanced. Mayos "inspected" my car and I found out 2 weeks later i was in need of new brakes. So overall they are more worried about making money and getting you out quick then actual quality work. read more

Other places didn't realize there was a hole in my tire when my light came on.I had my car inspection and everything. I was quoted $1200 to replace my AC compressor. Guy tells me the price on the compressor is $600. I think this is very pricey. So I pay my $165 for diagnostics and go across the street to O'Reily to price the part myself. They have a new one in stock for $225. Hmmmmm. In fact, I looked all over the place to see if I could find this part anywhere for north of $300 and could not. If I wanted to be price gouged I would have just gone to the dealership. If you want to be price gouged just come here. Cause it seems like the what they are in the business of doing. read more

Went to Mayo Autoworks on Saturday, July 22, because my "low tire" light went on. After waiting to learn what was wrong, they drove my car out of the garage and told me they just added air to a couple tires. Two days later (the next time I drove it), the "low tire" light was on again. I took it back, and after again waiting to learn what was wrong, they drove my car out of the garage, then told me they had fixed two valve stems. A) Why hadn't they done this the first time? B) Why didn't they come and tell me what was wrong first, before performing the repairs? If it's because I am a woman, and they're men, that's bad enough. If they just wanted to force me to pay for what they'd done... that's horrible. I will never go back there again. read more

I took in a 2007 Avalanche for an issue that was misdiagnosed- I paid for the diagnostic, and the fixed the "issue". Soon after I had the same issue so I took it back waited with the vehicle for hours, then they tell me it was something else- they ordered the part and told me they'll call me when they got the part, almost a week passes when they finally call, I bring my vehicle back in and wait a another couple hours and they tell me the part is not the right part (their explanation was from ridiculous, as if I ordered the wrong part)- never lost my cool- no problem... I left they finally got the right part and only charged my for the part (no labor-).. they install the part and everything is fine for a couple weeks! I call back because I have the same issue and the tell my some story about how it NOT under warranty! I took my truck to All American (where I should have went in the 1st place) and they found the issue- turned out that MAYO's put a used part (probably from a salvage yard) on my vehicle! it failed and they refused to make it right! I just spent over $600 for what? For them to not stand behind their work, sell me a cheap & defective part, and just act so nonchalant an unethical about it! DONT EVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! My first and last time going to this place for any work on a vehicle. My daughter's car needed some suspension work. This place is close to where we live so I took it up there for her. I paid for the full diagnostic. The result was $1400 to replace struts and ball joints. After we got got the vehicle back there were clanking noises and other problems that were not there before. I have not called them even though they did tell me they warranty their work for a year because the previous work did not give me great confidence in this shop. I'd rather cut my losses. I should've left after overhearing a conversation with another customer while waiting. The gentleman was concerned about the price he was quoted to which the employee responded "well it is tax season so your refund should be coming soon". These are not mechanics more like thieves. A female friend took her car into Mayo because it was smoking from under the hood. They charged her $88 do basically tell her that there's an oil leak somewhere and she needed a new alternator. I am a mechanic so she called me to look before they began work on a $1300 estimate. A long story short, She just needed her engine cleaned and a new valve cover gasket which was less than $30 from autozone. I checked the alternator both at idle and 2500 RPM and charges between 13.9 and 14.1 volts. Please don't ever take your car there. read more

Pissed to say the least! I dropped my truck off for an oil change and front end alignment, made an appointment Saturday for Labor Day service, I asked how long it would take and they said two hours approx but they will call. No call so I headed to Mayo at 11, shop was closed but the gentleman must have seen me and came back saying they did call, I'm like no you didn't and here is my phone. What is sad nowhere was it posted they were just going to shut shop down, they just did it. They did not even know if the car had been finished but charged me for a front end alignment and after picking it up it's confirmed, alignment was not done but i was charged.! If I had not shown up they would have just left me without a vehicle! All they wanted to do was go home. Gentleman said owner called and told them to shut down. It is a shame a business would be so lousy and just leave a customer hanging and just close shop! I called shop on Tuesday morning and shop manager answered, i asked for the owner but you know he was evasive, saying he comes and goes. At this time I did not know this was the guy who RIPPED me off on Monday but it didn't matter, i wasn't rude nor will i ever be rude. He was like, yeah, I just checked with technician and we did not complete the work, so just go ahead and bring the truck back in and we will do the work. WHAT? Do you really think this is so simple, you lied and charged me for services not rendered and you aren't even remorseful. At no time did i feel i could go back to this shop as its' not an ethical place to be and I did not want to have to deal with this shop anymore. I called Mayo 2 to ask for the owners number, Shop Manager, Crystal, immediately wanted to rectify my concerns and told me to bring truck to her shop and she would have technician look to see if the work had been performed and she would do what she needed to do to help-----------------superb customer service. She would not give me the owners number either but i understand and she was willing to take my name and number down to have him return my call. I headed over to shop Mayo 2, the son of the owner runs Mayo 2 and he happened to be at the facility. I explained to the son what happened and he said he would talk to the manager that this must have been a miscommunication.......................no, there is no miscommunication...........your shop owner was completely wrong. i continued my story to ensure he knew this was not a miscommunication. Well, Crystal had Chad look at my truck and he ended up doing an alignment, he showed me all the numbers and shared the problem with my truck more were the tires, i had no idea and was so appreciative of him sharing that with me, I immediately ordered tires. Thank you Chad and Crystal. I still don't believe this was handled appropriately,, what really happened to the shop owner who lied? What i find disturbing is that i was NOT offered any compensation, i wasn't looking for anything free but something should have been offered? probably would not have even taken it but its the principal. I was inconvenienced in bringing the truck back and I don't feel like my complaint meant a whole lot and not sure the shop was appropriately admonished. I can't honestly say in good faith that i believe this problem is fixed. Mayo 2 ROCKS because of Crystal and Chad, I would go back because of them. read more

never use again.... i had a water pump go out i called auto zone for price it ranged up to 80 bucks i called around see who could do it quick mayo said could guy called chuck quoted me 280 plus part and take 4 hours so i headed there at 11 am i arrive they take it apart then tell me pump wont be there till 430 and guy gives ride to my inlaws i call following morning at 8am said yes got it in would be ready by 10 well they then bust my radiator and said 430 but i got out of there at 230 642 bucks later i priced radiator up 132 and they got parts from auto zone they so over priced never use again read more
