Here's the deal, I was driving down the road in Killeen and my suburban died right in front of Al's shop. I coasted into the parking lot next-door checked a few items and determine that I had absolutely no idea what was wrong with my truck. Thinking the worst that the fuel pump was bad in my truck. I walked over to the garage and explain my situation and they were happily willing to help and went immediately over to my truck. The next thing I see is my truck being pushed by several employees and pushed onto a lift. Four mechanics immediately want to work to try and figure out what was wrong with my truck. Unlike most shops, they actually took my input and were very receiving of the information that I gave them It took approximately 20 minutes to figure out that the computer had gone bad on my truck! Thinking the worst and thinking thousands of dollars I went inside and they called multiple parts shops and dealers to see if they can get the part. It wasn't available until the day. I was brand-new to the area and they were happy to give me a ride to the rental car company down the street. I called the next day and they stated that my truck would be done by the end of the day and that it would need to go to the dealer to have the computer flashed. When all said and done I was expecting a bill much greater than $1000 and was pleasantly surprised when the bill was just slightly over $600. They had to tow the vehicle, had for mechanics working on it for over two hours and get the parts and a dealership have to flash the computer and then bring it back. They were extremely fair very courteous and upmost they were honest. They could've taken me for a lot of money but there is still some integrity left in the world. If you ever have the misfortune to enter this establishment, be sure that you get everything they tell you in writing. That probably won't happen, as they wouldn't give me a written estimate and the service writer told me that he doesn't even enter any of the information into a computer for future reference, just makes written notes. They have a problem with remembering to install parts that were requested, but don't have any problem with charging the full labor price for the work. My advice is to avoid this shop and get a written bid from a reputable shop in the area, that possibly has an endorsement from AAA. There are several shops that fit in this group, including some that include a 2 to 3 year written warranty, at approximately the same cost as this shop. Without a written record, you'll probably have no recourse if the work isn't done as agreed on beforehand. read more

I had my truck towed in after it quit on me. I let Al know that the fuel pump was failing and I was trying to limp it in but it didn't work out. I just told him to check everything out and fix it. The AC and tires needed attention as well. Half a day later, he calls me and lets me know it's all done. Wow! Then when I go in to pay, I'm expecting a hefty bill (tires alone usually run me about $1100) and he charges me $1400. Again, wow! I was impressed. Now I know where I'm getting tires for all my vehicles. This shop is fast and affordable and I'm their new loyal customer. They have a big cat that lays on the window sill inside the shop office. Be warned that if you pet him, you'll be petting for a while. He's super friendly and soft. I wholly appreciate the fast service above all and I can put my truck back to work now. read more

Horrible service. I took my John Deere riding lawnmower to their shop. They charged me $200 to fix a problem I had with the ignition. I tried to pay with my bank card and even though they had a machine to process my transaction they refused to take anything but cash. When I wentOutside to look at the lawnmower nothing was fixed on it. They had carelessly spliced wires and didn't even wrap them and left them sitting on the engine with gas and oil leaking. When I mentioned to them that they did not fix the lawnmower correctly and left it very unsafe to use the owner began to curse me out call me the N-word and a thug. Then he and two other gentlemen tried to all fight me at the same time. I had my son in law call the police because we felt unsafe. When the police arrived the owner refused to release my property even though I had the cash to pay for it and says he'd take me to court so he could keep the lawnmower. I would not suggest this business to anyone looking to have a positive customer service experience. This was by far the worst experience I have had in my 50 years on this planet. read more

I called this company twice to repair my tractor. Both times they said it was repaired but it never worked. They always find a different problem. The last time they came we spent over 150 dollars and it did not work even for a day. My son called them several times and they said to call later because of the quarantine. We kept calling and now they hang up the phone on him. He was calling as they had requested. The tractor has never worked and we have to cut the grass with a regular mower in 1.7 because we spent a lot of money and they never fixed it. read more

Al's only charged me a little over $200 on a repair they completed the same day, and other auto shops said would take a couple of days wait for parts and cost $400 - $500. So I've never really kept a car for longer then 80k miles..ever! It my daughter that is 13 said to me that when she is able to drive she really wanted my vehicle. I promised I'd give it to her. But that was going to change when 2 weeks ago while driving back from Temple the engine blew a gasket and ruined the engine. I met thru the church that I attend one of the Mayo Mechanic family members. If anyone knows the Killeen area code, these shops are the place to go to. But before I went to AL's Service Center I was referred to another shop by my friend. I didn't not only spend a lot of Wasted time, but sounded like I was going to break the promise to my daughter. The motor and to repair it was going to be over $9k plus 2-3 weeks. I was seriously thinking..sell it for parts, as I mentioned earlier. I met G. Mayo at church and when I met him he told me, if I ever had a vehicle issue, to not hesitate. So I finally decided to locate the shop and it's the original shop from where it all got started from. I was not only treated with respect, but the price was 60% less expensive, engine within a week and repaired within a week as well. Hard to believe right. I'm giving this great facility a 5 star rating not because they did not only take care of me with my vehicle, but they genuinely cared. I'm in customer service and I know how customers can be. I've had my share of bad customers. Btw, no one want to spend money when their car was working fine and then it's not. I can't imagine the daily customer that probably blames the world on everyone but the reality of the situation. It's broke! Needs to be fixed. If you want to save and really be taken care of. This is the place to go. Now I can keep my promise and I can confidently know that what I'm giving my daughter is a vehicle that's been given a new heart. I went to another place for a wobble in the from and they found $2300 in stuff wrong, some of which I knew wasn't true. I went to Al's and they found the trouble was an unbalanced tire. Just a minor thing that they fixed very quickly and it didn't cost $2300, more like $24. I have taken my car to Al's before and they always do a good job. read more
