This is a locally-owned tire store that has been in business here for many years. It is truly a full-service type of business. Whenever I have issues with tires or purchase new tires, this is my go to spot. If your tire pressure light comes on, he will check for nails or screws in your tires and not just pump air into them. This has happened to me a couple of times and he gets the tire repaired in no time flat. :) and gets you on your way at a low cost and sometimes at no cost . Do you enjoy going into a place that is not plastic, glitz, muzak, and ad-banners all over (a la WallMart, Discount Tire, etc.)? Big-D is locally owned and has been in the same family for over 35 years. Mike, the owner is a tire expert and welcomes you with genuine warmth and concern. I've purchased three full sets of rubber from him over several years and have been 100% pleased by his recommendations and products. Before going out of town, I will stop in and have him or one of his very capable staff inspect my tires for safety and check the pressure. Of course there is no charge for this nor do I have to wait an hour! Big-D does tires, not batteries, car seats, deodorizers, or fuzzy dice for your mirror. Just tires. And they KNOW tires. You may find a given tire a cpl bucks cheaper at a chilly chain-store operation but for the money, for the peace of mind that your tire needs including your safety and that of others is an important consideration, I recommend Mike at Big-D Tire. We needed brand new tires and after reading great reviews about Big D's we decided to give them a try. I called him several times to ask questions and although I felt embarrassed he never made me feel bad. He didn't have the tires we wanted in stock, but he was able to get them in the very next day. I'd choose this place over a large chain any day. I ran over a nail and I wanted to keep my tire simply because I'd only had this set of tires on my car for about a year. So first I went to Tires 2 U in Killeen and was lied to. As a woman, I hate having to deal with anything car related because it seems that men at these places simply always want to get over in you. At Tires2u, I was told that I rode on my flat tire for too long and it created a heat ring so that tire is no good and I could purchase a new one for $140 . No thanks. You're full of shit because once I rode over the nail, I stopped immediately and called roadside assistance to put on my spare. Don't lie to me to get me out of my money. So I told them to put my spare back on and I left. Then I went to PepBoys and was told that the nail was too close to the edge of the tire and they could give me a new tire for $150. Lol no thanks buddy. Then I finally came to BigD and boy let me tell you... $25 and I was in and out in 30 minutes. They were friendly, quick, and honest. Me and the owner had a great conversation while his men worked on plugging the tire. He said that yes the nail was pretty close to the sidewall but it should hold. He told me to keep an eye on it and if it gives out, he could get me a new tire for $130 out the door with taxes and balancing. If the tire does give out, I'll definitely be giving this place my money as opposed to any of those other lying a-holes! Thanks for true and honest service. read more

Wow! I have been to Big D several times and have sent others there as well. This place has always been top notch! They are honest, straightforward, fast, and do quality work. I have never had a problem, nor has anyone I've sent to them. I had been told by an acquaintance who works for a big chain tire place that I definitely needed to get new tires for my car...even though they looked okay to me. Of course I want to make sure that my car is safe, so I headed to Big D. I was ready to buy a couple of new tires, but the owner, Mike, inspected my tires and said that I should come back in 5000 miles! He said that he wouldn't feel right selling me a tire that I didn't need. Would a big chain do this? Doubtful. read more

I have been going here for years, but everyone is like "Oh, discount tire is cheaper" or "Firestone on post is cheaper." Negative. I just called around, and with mount and balancing-Firestone and Discount tire were 146. Big D was 130. Now I can justify coming here even more. Plus, like another reviewer said-he won't sell you tires if you don't need them. He told me to come back once after 3,000 miles on a tire. You walk into one of those chains, they will put a chain on your wallet and yank all your money out! read more

Finding good customer service in Killeen is nearly impossible, so you can imagine my surprise too find a great tire shop right here in town. Big D is not big and is owned by a very nice man named Mike.... Big D Tire is a small locally owned tire shop with old school personal service. I have a older import car with odd wheels, the chain stores with computerized balance equipment were unable to balance after three attempts....I was told I had a bent wheel or something else?... Not to mention damaging my center caps witch are no longer available. Mike recognized the uniqueness of the car and wheels, taking special care, my car drives perfect for the first time in a long time. Thank You! Mike acknowledged his tires are a few $ more but he doesn't add on charges for mounting, balance, new stems and shop supplies ect. making Big D Tire quite competitive overall.....and you get smart, friendly, adult service.
