Stopped here for a late Mother's Day lunch. Have been to the excelsior location before but this is the first for Rogers - food was the same as the other location and just what I remembered it being - good but not great. Portion sizes are awesome and the fries with the seasoned sour cream were awesome, but the Cabo Steak Wrap I had ordered was just fine. Not something I would order again - a lot of rice and not much of other ingredients on the inside. Our table ordered the green beans as well which were better than I what I expected. For bar food, this place was good, but don't think I would go out of my way to come back for a meal. read more

This was probably our third visit to the dining room. It's very nice and the customer service is excellent. Brenda was our waitress with quick service always checking on us. In fact, she's so effective that she got my refill and I didn't even notice. My wife had the teriyaki chicken salad which was excellent. I was disappointed in my stir-fry chicken. It had little rice and cashews and mainly only two vegetables. Hence, the only reason for my four stars instead of five. We didn't have the carrot cake for two but it looks so good. Our neighborhood spot and we've never been disappointed. Celebrated our 25th there last night and shrimp scampi was wonderful.

Quick service, and friendly staff. The beer options are lacking, unless you're fine with the very basic stuff. Plenty of mule options though. I enjoyed their French Onion soup, and their chicken sandwiches are always very good and consistent. A good value that'll get you higher quality food than an Applebee's. read more

Stopped in since it Was close to the hotel I was staying at. I had looked online and they had. 7 Oz filet with veggies, perfect for a late dinner. When I got there the menu had changed and no longer contained a filet. They did have a 16 Oz ribeye though, a little heavy for a 9 pm dinner but far be it from me to turn down a ribeye. I tried to be good but didn't work. I had the steak medium and it came with a veggie medley and a baked potato. Steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Veggies were good, potato was a little undercooked for me but I ate the good parts and saved some calories that way. Service was prompt and efficient. Had a wine to wash it all down. Very good food and great portion sizes. Waffle fries are worth the $2 upgrade. Its a large building so despite the parking lot looking rather full, the restaurant had plenty of open seating. Unfortunately, the waitress was so dry and uninterested in her customers. Her attitude really sucked. read more

Local, very popular upscale sports bar with a large bar area & separate dining room. They also have outdoor seating (seasonally) with big screen TV and Firepit. Lots of TV's in the bar offering up all types of sporting events. This place has it all and the food is always fresh, flavorful, hot, good sized portions and on point! It is obvious why this place is typically always busy! Servers & staff work collectively together and it is always a wonderful experience. They also have GREAT food & drink happy hour specials! Every time I have been here (6-7 now) the staff is always super friendly a few times they'll stand and chat with you. During Covid I love they have outdoor seating and the food has always been pleasant. Meaning I haven't had anything I have hated. My Friends always comment how nice everyone is when I take them there, its a nice place on a warm night for snacks and wine on the patio as well. An awful experience with friends and our two kids. We made a reservation for Sunday for four adults and two kids with high chairs. They attempted to seat us at 11:30 and had two high chairs that did not fit at the table. See the picture we took. We asked for a regular table and they offered to stack the high chairs three high and have us in the bar at a high top. We saw several open tables and asked and were told they were reserved. Remember, we also had a reservation for thirty minutes earlier. We asked for a manager; who ended us telling us that was our option or wait for another hour. No apology and he was extremely unhelpful and did not hint at caring about the situation. It left us wondering if it's not family friendly restaurant. read more

Not much really happens in Rogers, MN. The small Twin City "suburb" is full of residential housing and warehouses and shuts down pretty much right around the time Chicago happy hours are beginning. That's where Maynard's comes to the rescue. Happy hour specials with real food? Attentive, friendly wait staff? TVs tuned to professional sports (the Twin Cities apparently love high school sports)? Maynard's has got your back. I will always come back here because of their lively vibe, great food and drinks, and the kitchen staying open after 8pm on a Sunday. My instincts tell me the clock is ticking on this location. They significantly reduced their menu pre-Covid to eliminate single meal ingredients which took a lot of fan favorites off the list. Meanwhile, places start popping up all around them that crush it in service, quality, and selection. Add in hit or miss service that means you get either a super nice server or someone who hates life and should be working the counter at the DMV. I'm afraid this once amazing neighborhood go to is now reserved for single mid-lifer's looking for love at the end of the bar. I was hoping for a better result after a long hiatus from Maynard's but no such luck. Look to Short or Tall, Clive's, or Rockwoods for a much better overall experience. read more

Surprised that the ratings aren't higher. We thought this place was great. On many levels. Food Ordered: Club Sandwich with Clam Chowder- Our server was explaining it as part of another special and how good it was so I had to try it. Cajun Chicken Sandwich with waffle fries Fruit which consisted of pineapple, grapes, strawberries, melon and was fresh. Seasoned sour cream was okay- but not as good as the others I've had elsewhere. Our server was great! Really does her job well is charming and helpful in making decisions pertaining to the menu. We chose to sit outside in their nice patio area. We sat at a low top, but they have high tops, too. Nice fireplace that they light on cool nights with festive lights strung around. It's nice being able to sit outside on warm days. I came here last week with a friend and it was really good. I had the Cajun chicken with Alfredo and loved it. When I brought the leftovers home my boyfriend enjoyed them too. I was excited for a night out so we could enjoy it together. Tonight we went right around dinner time. First problem started right away when we asked if we could sit on the patio and the hostesses whispered amongst themselves before saying it was full and we could be put on the wait list or we could sit in a booth by the bar. It was pretty busy so I understood and chose to sit inside. When the waitress came to take out drink order she was not personable and did not smile. The drink I received was horrible and tasted nothing like the mixed drink I usually order at other restaurants. Our onion rings were brought out by a nice young guy. We then waited for a long time for the waitress to even check on us. When she finally did I told her my drink was wrong and I just wanted water. She grabbed the drink, came back with water all with out a smile or words. Then our main courses came. I had ordered the chicken Alfredo again and my boyfriend got a burger with coleslaw. Right away I noticed that the noodles were different but I didn't mind but the sauce was extremely runny like someone has just watered it down. My boyfriend had me try his coleslaw which tasted like relish or something, just not good. Also his burger tasted like Char, if we wanted Burger King we would have gone there. BK would have actually had more flavor. We didn't even bother with dessert. All in all I would say it very disappointed and don't plan I'm going back. read more

I have to upgrade these guys to 3 stars. We had dinner before a movie. Our previous experience, at the Sunday brunch buffet, wasn't that great. But I have to admit, dinner was much better. I'd describe the food as similar to an Applebee's or Ruby Tuesdays or a TGIF...except it's not part of a big chain. The food was decent this time. And the service was excellent. We usually make it to Maynard's in Rogers, Mn for the Sunday brunch. Its worth the price if admission on a normal Sunday (about $16 per person). They do charge a premium for special Sunday events such as Father's Day (about $26 per person). The best items on the Sunday morning buffet are the salmon, wild rice soup and key lime pie. The Belgian waffles are also very delicious. If you arrive before Sunday at 11 am you can snag an "early bird" discount on the buffet (about $2 per person). On the whole, Maynard's in Rogers, MN is a very solid venue that can boast of low staff turnover and huge customer loyalty. There is no "best" day or time to come in for dinner in order to avoid a wait time - there is always a wait and often times its out the door. If you are going to a movie at the nearby Rogers Movie Theatre, hang on to your ticket stubs and bring them in for a two for one on your favorite drink! read more
