We decided to get out MayMoes while on vacation from out of state. It was dead when we arrived and only a couple of customers came in while we were there. Before we could eat, we had to retrieve our own silverware from the communal receptacles. It was quite disturbing to find that all they had to offer was dirty fork after dirty fork. My husband pulled out 3 different forks with food stuck on them before he finally grabbed the attention of one of the employees in the kitchen. They gave him a couple from behind the counter and only one of those was usable, so he ended up sifting through the spoons and used one of those to eat his meal. I had the pasta with steak. The portion was VERY generous. It was a little spicy for my liking (I actually don't like spice at all, and made the mistake of incorrectly assuming that pasta "with cream sauce" was a safe bet), and the steak was not good. Shaved super thin, and really really fatty. I couldn't stomach most of it, and picked apart what I could. My Hubs went with the jambalaya. He said it was pretty dry, but had really great flavor. He liked it for the most part. Overall, I don't think this place lived up to my expectations based on others' reviews, and I would not go back in the future. read more

High-quality food. The food was really flavorful and not too heavy for southern food. I got the shrimp basket with hush puppies and my husband got jambalaya with beans. So good and filling! This place is awesome. The Shrimp Po-Boy and Boudin balls were excellent. The bread was soft, the shrimp were crisp and plentiful and the Boudin balls were great. It was all very fairly priced as well. I have been burned on Po-Boys before, but this place does them right. I will be coming here again to try the grits and catfish for sure. If he does the Po-Boy and Boudin this well then everything else is going to be great that's for sure. The service was great too, very attentive and the sauce is out in the open so you don't have to bother the staff for something so trivial. We were just passing through town and wanted to grab something quick. I saw Cajun food and thought it sounded pretty good and it was in fact amazing. We only picked up the food but the staff was so nice and helpful and the food was to die for. From the cheerful staff who greeted and checked on us repeatedly to the artsy, cool decor and Louisiana-themed items AND THE FOOD... cheesey tri tip sandwich was just spicy enough, a PERFECTLY fresh bun, and melt in your mouth MOIST meat... followed by coleslaw with just the right amount of mayo and seasonings and the HUSH PUPPY just like my mom used to make in Oklahoma. The Gator Bites were really enjoyable. The jalapeños were a real nice addition to them. The Shrimp-N-Grits were also really good. Ask for extra heat. It won't be spicy, but the sauce tastes great. I had heard my family rave about this place for months so we had to try it when we were in town. From the gator bites to the pasta to the burgers everything was fantastic! Even on a busy Friday night the owner stopped by our table to chat and made us feel like we were old friends. He gave us a true sense of what southern hospitality is all about. We drove up to Logan from Roy and looked up the top-rated restaurant. We were not disappointed! The shrimp grilled cheese and Utah burger were both delicious. The beans had the perfect amount of bite. Tilley also got us fresh fries and the seasoning was amazing. They have a homemade ranch dressing we loved. We had high hopes for this place. We were on a day trip and wanted try this place. We saw it on TV. The place was packed they over sat eat in orders and there was no place to sit at all. We had to finally ask someone if tables were cleaned or not. We finally got a table. The bus boy left the table soaking wet and walked away we had to finish wiping it down ourselves. When our food came they only brought out our appetizer and my entree and then" looked at my wife and said did you order more". She proceeded to tell them her order and they promptly told her oh it's sold out. So then they brought her something else which was completely overcooked. The only reason it's getting two stars and not one is because the gator bites were fairly good. Everything else was either bland or cold. Definitely not a place I'll be coming again. read more

The James R. Harrigan tour of Logan, Utah restaurants housed in gas stations continues with MayMoes. After a very pleasant outing at the Tandoori Oven, also sharing a building with a gas station, my hopes ran high as I entered the back door of the gas station at 2495 North. After walking through the dining room (no scent of gasoline, honest) to the front counter, I quickly found the bare bones menu, and a chalkboard with the daily lunch special. Bacon Cheeseburger Po Boy lunch special? With spicy, meaty beans? Yes sir, please and thank you. A quick order and a 64 oz. keg of Coke Zero later, I was sitting at the table. Scant moments later, a very kind woman brought me a piping hot plate of happiness. The bun was a thing of beauty, it was chock full of charred meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, (pickles were moved to the side) and some kind or orange, heavenly goo...so good that I requested a bottle be brought to the table for additional smothering. As good as the po boy was, and it was good, the beans were that much better. I was immediately happy I had passed on the fries in favor of this juicy, pork-filled concoction. Not just a yes, but a healthy hell yes. I have learned a valuable lesson about dining in and around Logan this past week or so...when in doubt, pick the gas station. Seriously...trust me on this. We drove one hour and a half to try the crawfish last night, we had my dad over 70 and my teenaged daughter and went through 5 lbs quick, perfect heat, added corn and potatoes, so be sure to do that. First time experience for my dad eating crawfish and he just loved it. The menus fills an entire wall, staff is very fast and caring and for being crawfish night it was busy, go early to make sure you get them. It's only Friday nights during crawfish season after 4:30 first come first served so be sure to check that out. We were full but saw they had gator too so next time in Logan I'll be back. read more

Just visited downtown New Orleans a couple months ago and tried gumbo and jambalaya for the 1st time and hated it. Decided to give it a second chance here and it was awesome. Guess I'm a gumbo guy after all, which is too bad cuz it was on a sign that looked like it was a daily special or something. If you MayMoes guys are reading this, put that on your permanent menu!! The catfish poboy was also good, but I gotta admit Not Yo Mama's tavern in Louisiana still has the best catfish poboy I've ever had. But props for bringing all this to Utah! read more

Absolutely unbelievable food. I was only in Logan for a week to visit someone and saw MayMoes show up in the listing of restaurants nearby. I was so blown away by how good the food was that I insisted on going one more time before my trip was over. I got their blackened chicken pasta, jambalaya, beignets, and fries and seriously, words really can't describe how good they were. The staff was also super friendly and enthusiastic and we were able to get food rather quickly. About the duck slammies: the bread was amazing, the frog legs were wonderful, the duck meat was cooked perfectly BUT I was not impressed with this specific meal! The shammies filling was half fat half meat and for the high price there was not a lot of food!! I'll probably try these guys again but no wow factor yet. :( read more

I don't understand the good reviews. The Jambalya plate was a plate of spicy rice with hardly any meat or sausage in sight. But the horrifying surprise was the Jalapeño Burger with a slaw on it that literally was eclectic blue ( think Smurf blue). It looked awful and customers would like to know in advance that a blue dye is on the burger. What's the point of putting blue dye in a ranch dressing? read more

We tried this place on a take-out order. The biggest reason was hand cut fries! These were the tastiest part of our meal. I think the burger option ordered to go needs to be served on something other than a potato roll. By the time we drove about 7 minutes to our destination, it was just a boiled patty on soggy mush. The fries were tasty and they had good sauce. Probably need to try their other options for a better taste of this place. read more

We went to Maymoes after a trip to New Orleans to see how it compared to the food we ate in Louisiana. Well, it exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. The food was exceptional. We had delicious jambalaya and a burger to see both sides of their food. When we were walking out, we just kept going on and on about what we wanted to try next time. That's the kind of restaurant people want to go to! In addition, the service made everything that much better. The staff was well educated and quick to give thoughts and opinions. The chicken dumplings in a bowl was pretty good. It was the first time I have ever had them. The beignets sounded pretty good but I didn't see the cafe aulait there.
