I was surprised how expensive it was but beggars can't be choosers. The compound is clean and well-run and I love that they sell boxes, padlocks, etc. in the office if you need them. I took advantage of that. I also love all the security measures in place. You have to punch in your personal code to enter the property, to enter your locker building, and even to exit the property. There are cameras everywhere, which means the likelihood of criminal activity on the grounds is slim. I've deducted a star because if you only need the locker for a week, they still charge you for a full month. To me, this is unethical since they are paid twice for the unit if someone else rents it during the month I already paid for. I needed the locker for 5 weeks but I'm not willing to pay for a second full month in order to keep it that extra 7 days. Instead, I brought everything back to my house rather than picking the stuff up with the moving van the following week. Such a hassle. I think this place would be perfect if they offered pro-rated rent instead of only by the month. It's just better business and makes them look cooperative and honest rather than greedy.

Short Version: Broke tons of stuff. Quoted $800, showed up and said that it shouldn't take too…read morelong. Billed $1400. Not even remotely competent Longer Version: Talked to Curtis. He seemed great and he gave what I thought was a fair quote. We were moving a basement suite and had 40-50 boxes and few other large items (dresser, wardrobe etc.) They showed up early, seemed courteous and professional. Assessed the situation and said that everything looked good. We had everything in boxes, labelled and organized. They said 2 hours to get it out at the most. Then things went downhill...fast. The two workers started arguing that about whether they should bring another guy to help. The one said they shouldn't but eventually they asked me if they should. I let them know it was fine because I like to trust people to do a good job. They said it wouldn't be more expensive because although I have to pay for each person, they would be more efficient. Reasonable. Noon rolls around and they're still not packed. Remember they said 2 hours tops then brought in another guy to help. So, it should be way under 2 hours, but we are at 4+. I started to notice that the new guy they brought has been on his phone most of the time. Seems like he's putting out fires things for Low Budget Moving. Fair enough, but not really something I want to pay for. The other guys don't really seem to be moving boxes and working hard when I see them in my suite, but when I go up, then their just chatting and doing nothing. I think this was the chief the reason that 2 hours for 2 people became 5 hours for 3 people. That is on the cost side of things, but that's not all. When they showed up they said they would insure only solid wood furniture to be moved without damage. They didn't want to insure cheap IKEA furniture or already packed boxes. That seems fair to me. They broke 2 solid wood pieces of furniture. Replaced none and offered no compensation. One table they admitted to breaking. They just fell on it and broke it. Admitted it and did nothing. The China cabinet they refused to admit they broke but kind of in the same way that a child with chocolate on their face rufuses to admin they are responsible for the missing chocolate. They took some parts of the cabinet and said they'd look into replacing it, but then ghosted me. Lastly, they just sucked at moving. I have a hundred stories from the day but the one that illustrates it best is this. We asked them to move a wardrobe into a corner that they had placed in the middle of the room. It need to be moved about 2 meters. They were struggling to move it, crawling around on their knees, pushing it then putting it down, then and trying to figure out how to move it. Eventually after my wife and watching for a while, we just moved it. It took about 15 seconds for us (minus the few minutes of watching them struggle to do their job). We aren't strong, just healthy 30-year-olds who aren't getting paid by the hour. All in all they were just not competent at the basic task, did not actually work, and broke or damaged a lot of items. Try someone else. Literally any one.

My brother and I lost our mom last year and went to the Richmond location to pick up what was left…read moreof her belongings. They were put there by someone who had caused our family a great deal of pain and misery. Naturally this person didn't provide us with the key to the lock. We showed up with the necessary legal papers and a letter from our lawyer which provided the necessary proof that we were the administrators of her estate. The attendant on hand (Michael A.) told us the storage unit was registered to a third party and not our mom, so unfortunately we would need as letter from this party. We explained that this was not possible since they were not our friend and caused our family extreme hardship in handling our mom's belongings. He said they could not help. He also refused to acknowledge the letter from the Supreme Court of Canada showing very clearly my brother was the administrator of her estate, so yes, we did have legal right to its contents. Speaking with our lawyer over the phone also did nothing. I pressed him to contact his manager (Arthur W.). After speaking with him, they revealed that our mom was listed on the contract to have access (which meant we did as we now control her estate). So they back-pelled and said they would now accept the letter from the Supreme Court of Canada. However, they could not provide us access as we did not have legal rights to the lock on the unit. Yes, that's right, we could not access our rightful belongings, which they admitted was legally ours and we did have every legal right to access, because we did not own the lock. The lock. Moreover, they claimed that the party who rented the unit had to present should they need to cut it. Or we would need a subpoena. Our lawyer has been practicing family law for nearly 30 years and has said he's never seen anything like this before. He said they are always very understanding of the situation and show remorse, as any human would. Arthur was rude, continually cut me off to say if I didn't listen, he would hang up (the irony) and seemed to take joy in finding arbitrary hurdles to block us from our rightful belongings. He showed no remorse or had any human decency in dealing with this situation. Losing our beloved mother has been extremely difficult and we are both still very much grieving. To deny us access was not only exceptionally callous but puzzlingly vile. Beware of this place! And Arthur seems like the type that would arrest the bullet in a murder case. Absolutely avoid at all costs!
