Other storage companies wave late fees depending on circumstances, so I've been told by reliable sources. And by these same sources I've been told that you can often make arrangements for access aside from paying whats owing in full. These people will not budge, compromise, or be what I would consider reasonable. Don't take my word for it but I highly recommend doing your research into this by inquiring about these specific policies with other companies. In summary: generally I wouldn't recommend this company based on these policies, but to boot the poor customer service does not help as well.

i rented a storage locker for my 1 bedroom apartment in early september as a backup plan in case i…read moredidn't find a place to move to for october 1st, which i paid for the locker starting october 1st and i was still allowed to stay in my current apartment until november 1st due to a mutual understanding and agreement with my apartment manager. so november 1st comes around and i had no luck finding a place and moved my stuff into storage and i have rented many storage lockers in my lifetime and have never ever experienced inside money scams and inside storage locker employee living in his apartment on the site, very rude and did not follow through with there advertising policy posted saying get the second month rent for free! to make a very long story short, i just finally vacated the locker 2 days ago and found that my very nice love seat and couch had been knawed at and had holes everywhere and mice and rat droppings ( shit) totally infested in my furniture, i removed them from my unit and took them to the dump! i am a single mother and work hard and have paid for everything i own with pride, and have also been paying almost $600 a month for the rent on that storage locker, i now have just finally found a place for myself and my 14 year old son and do not have any furniture, he told me that i did not purchase any extra insurance????? i have bcaa tenant insurance which he just applied on my account in december because he tried ripping me off again. i have pictures and witnesses and i will definitely be fighting for justice! like i said i have rented many storage lockers and never seen mice running in the hallways and been infested and ruined my life! justice will be served. i am speaking on behalf of my stepdaughter and she does not want to be named. be aware and do not rent from this place

Very polite and I am sure he will politely respond here as he did privately. The 1/2 drive charge before and after is a cost that is being added after the fact not in original discussions. (Happened both for packing and move) After my correspondence with him on the extra hours he turned the blame on me that the packing was not done right (unorganized) and the van was parked a bit further away from entry for download. As per packing, his own team were involved in packing majority of our stuff. They spent 5 hours the week before. Furthermore the big portion of our stuff was already stored in their pod since July. Yes They were still many boxes left in our house but very little furniture to move: - piano, dining table, 3 disassembled beds, 1 sofa, 1 coffee table, 2 bed side tables, 2 book shelves, one drawer, 3 chairs , one bbq , one lawn mower and one tv So I still don't get why it cost us this much time and money. Yes we were in unfortunate state that the spot in front was taken. That for sure slowed things down, but not 4-5 hours extra. Yes I made the stupid move to watch my kids around 6 pm instead of watching them for entire time so I let them do the download on their own. Did the download actually took from 3 to 8 pm no breaks?! I would like to believe they were truthful. I tried to resolve this with Kevin privately. . We ageeed that the guys worked hard and took only their claimed 30 min break! I raised the issue of lack of management and proper estimates and that needs to be fixed and for that I need to be compensated. He offered me future discount for a future move !!!! (Which basically is a very pretend polite way of dismissing me) I moved with this company 20'years ago. I was happy enough. That's why I went to them this time. But I will never recommend them again as it will turn to be very costly.

When we phoned, we got a real human who was decent, knowledgeable and helpful. The cost of their largest container was 1/5 the monthly rent at the storage facility even though it held the same amount of stuff. Our container was promptly delivered. I was clean with a dark wood laminate floor. We had the option of keeping it in our yard or having it carted away to be stored in their yard in the lower mainland, where we could request it be made available on fairly short notice. We chose to keep in our yard. In either case, you use your own lock. We used it for 5 years. It kept everything clean, bug-free and rodent-free (We have a lot of rats in Steveston.) The mice had been into the storage facility we used earlier, making a bit of a mess. (Also, rodent urine and droppings, once dry can put bacteria humans can catch into the air, so best avoided.) When it came time to empty the container, a quick call to an equally pleasant Big Steel Box representative meant it was picked up when we wanted it gone. Since you pay for delivery and pick-up when you first order it, there were absolutely no added costs. An ethical company that does what it says it will. Highly recommend for moving, short term or long term storage. To me, if you don't need fast, regular access to your goods, having them store your container is a great alternative to a storage facility. Would definitely use them again.

Container was delivered without me present & placed facing the wrong direction. I have spent three weeks trying to get this moved (during which I can't use the container) as I can't properly access the doors to load directly to/from a vehicle. Big Steel Box has refused to be accountable & will only turn the container 90degrees if I pay them another $120 delivery fee to fix their mistake. I WOULD NEVER recommend Big Steel Box.
