I had a massive tree fall on my property and house unexpectedly. Mayer was on site within hours and I met Doug at the top of my driveway around 2:45 pm. He told me they would have everything cleared no later than 6 pm. Admittedly I said to myself there's absolutely no way they take care of this in less than 3 hours, but sure enough pictures are attached. Unbelievable customer service, unbelievable work. If I ever have a tree problem myself, or if any of my friends ask if I have a recommendation, it's Mayer. read more

Fantastic experience. We had a giant Black Oak tree snap off and crash into the deck and second story balcony of our house. On response to my call a representative immediately came out (on a Saturday) to assess the situation and promised a crew mid morning on Monday. At the start of the Monday morning a crew was here setting up a giant crane and chipper. The tree was expertly picked up from the back - swung over the house and into the chipper area. All the mess was quickly removed and big logs set aside. A few hours later a second team arrived to remove all the large logs and remaining trunk. Site was perfectly clean and cut to below grade. No collateral damage and a job well done. Totally impressive and highly recommended. read more

I have a tree with a branch ready to snap off at any moment. They were supposed to come out in November 2023, but we kept getting pushed back. Finally we were given a date of 2/6, and it got changed to 2/7. My car was moved at the time requested by them. They had their equipment taking up spaces ALL DAY LONG. Finally i see them over by the tree at 1:30 pm. I'm thinking YAY, Finally! Only to get home 2 hours later to find out they didn't touch the branch. They claimed they "ran out of time". We were told they would come back the next day as long as they had space for equipment, THEY DID HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE. They never came back. Its one BRANCH that needs to be cut. ONE. We have no idea when they will be back. And good luck to me with tomorrow's noreaster coming, lets hope the branch come down from the weight of the snow onto my son or myself. Horrible company. Do better Mayer Tree. I do believe its time to call someone else. You clearly cannot get the job done. If your excuse is going to be that no one moved their cars where you started, and you had to wait for them to move, maybe you should have started with the area where cars were ACTUALLY MOVED. read more

Mayer tree service was recommended by my landscaper to take down and prune out trees in my back yard which were overgrown and becoming dangerous by losing large limbs during storms. One phone call, one estimate and one scheduled work date. I can not say enough about the crew that showed up to perform the work! They were polite, professional and highly experienced! They took extreme care on my property not to damage my lawn or their surrounding work area. When they left they cleaned up like they were never there. Extremely satisfied and I highly recommend them!! read more

Dan and his team have done two jobs at my place now: taking down three huge oaks with a crane (sadly threatening the house), and doing cleanup after a storm knocked a tree on my property over. I want to love my job the way Dan does! He's cheerful, friendly, and obviously happy to be there. He and his team were prompt, fast, thorough, and above-and-beyond helpful. I recommend them without reservation- and they came highly recommended by several people on our town mailing list. read more

Great Service, Great price, great business. Have used and will continue to use Mayer in the future .

Took morning off from work to have them come by for an estimate. They called me 20 minutes past the appointment time to tell me that "Something came up and they'd have to reschedule" I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Ken Brown and his team at Mayer Tree Service helped us with two separate and complex events after we had enormous trees fall and damage our yard after a bad storm. Ken came out immediately to inspect our property and provide us with a detailed estimate. After we accepted, the team they sent were professional, courteous, efficient, and above all, very safety conscious. We will continue to recommend and request Mayer for any yard / tree service needs in the future. read more

I used them twice. First time they were ok. Did a decent job. Then they came and did a horrible job. They didn't do what we asked and charged us 2x what it cost the 1st time and the job was smaller. It seems they were trying to recoup post pandemic. Why bring a bucket truck if your not going to use it. One man climbing the tree cutting branches. I couldn't supervise because I'm in a wheelchair, I feel completely taken advantage of. read more

I called Mayer (and some other tree service companies) to request a quote to remove a large branch from a neighbor's tree that had fallen onto our roof as well as a quote to remove over 20 trees in our yard. Four different tree service companies came to evaluate the fallen tree and the backyard trees to be removed. Ken Brown, from Mayer Tree Service, was the only rep who was a licensed arborist. Ken and I walked around my yard in the pouring rain as he took photos of the trees. Ken explained the tree removal process in detail. He answered all the questions I threw at him. Ken was personable, knowledgeable, polite, informative, and wicked funny! That same day I received an email with the quotes. Mayer's quotes were a little bit higher than some other tree service company's quotes, but not by much. Mayer (Ken Brown) was the only company that seemed to have more knowledge than the others. The branch atop our roof was removed the day after we signed the proposal for removal. Now that's FAST! The crew was quick and tidy. We'll have the backyard trees cut in the fall. I'll let you know how that goes. As for now, I would recommend others to at least talk to a Mayer Tree Service representative for a quote. read more

Disclaimer: Never hired these schmucks...nor will I ever! And you shouldn't either!! My next door neighbor hired this company to remove a relatively large branch that had fallen onto his chimney/garage due to Hurricane Irene. 4 guys in 2 huge trucks arrived at my house. As soon as they got out of the trucks, they were eye balling my house and driveway...looking for a way in. I just knew they were going to try to head in on my property to get it. If they were going to go in through my neighbors property, they would have parked the trucks in HIS driveway (neighbor has PLENTY of room to do so). Next thing I know I am standing on my back deck and all 4 men come trotting into my back yard! They never knocked or rang the bell. I confronted them and ordered them to leave the premises immediately. They just stood there and argued with me. The old guy says, "I knocked on your door, you didn't answer!" I said, "I don't HAVE to answer the door if I don't want too! Still doesn't mean you can just barge right onto someones property without them knowing!" He says, "Alright lady, no need to become a rude bitch." By this time, they haven't even started to leave my yard. So I said it again, "Get off my property now or I will have the police escort you off!" They left, but still arguing with me and saying I was rude for kicking them out. Needless to say, I carefully watched their every move. They ended up parking a truck with a cherry picker in my neighbor's driveway. The young kid cut the branch free and was done in 2 minutes flat. AVOID THIS TYPE OF BAD BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

I recently had a VERY large poplar tree taken down by Mayer Tree. This tree was a particular challenge as it was massive, overhung 2 houses and a parking lot. Ken from Mayer Tree Svc. gave us a quote that was very affordable. We also got 11 other tree company quotes, but Mayer had the price, equipment, knowledge and experience that met our particular needs. They took down and removed the tree in 1 day, cleaned the property of debris, and did not go over the original estimate. Awesome! read more

All good with great personnel, equipment and price. Will use them again. As a bonus I wanted the chippage from the 9 huge trees that came down so they dumped the ~60 yds where I wanted (which I am still spreading a couple months later). read more

My friend in Essex had some trees removed and I had been looking for a service and had gotten some quotes. Contacted Mayer to see what they could do and how they would do it. (Actually, one previous company I had used initially years ago, came back to do this job with a crane a few months back, worked for a few hours, gave up because they said it would be another 4 hours and it would be dark, it was too dangerous, and they wanted to change the method of take down and to come back with the crane another day for $1000 more!) Mayer was in line with some of the other quotes I got. I liked the idea that they would use a crane vs. a bobcat as some others were going to try. The tree was large - a rotted willow, and half of it came down, half was standing. They were set up in an hour or so, I think the work was done in about 2 hours, and they were cleaning up and leaving an hour or so later. They cut huge pieces, craned them over to the driveway, others cut off the limbs, and the logs were placed to the side. Workers with the chain saws and using the chipper wore long apron like pants. The driveway and area was raked, shovels and a blower was used to make things look good. The logs were left for the following day and the person that came back for them, was friendly, helpful and also did a great job cleaning up and there was a lot of debris because lots of the wood was rotted and left debris scattered about. I would recommend Mayer to others. read more

I am shocked by some of the bad reviews here. I called Mayer a few weeks ago and a day or 2 later an estimator came out and gave me pricing, answering any and all questions. I had a pretty large job (65 trees) and the whole experience was fantastic. A few weeks later they called to schedule the work and over 2 days their crew of 4 handled the work. Large trees over wires, the house, in the woods, you name it they were here and handled with skill. The crew was extremely professional and skilled. It was quite a show. After completing they cleaned up and left very little damage considering they squeezed a crane into my backyard in tight quarters. I highly recommend them to anyone with tree work. read more

I had a very large oak tree in my back yard that was in desperate need of a trim. It had many dead branches and was partially over where I have my kids swingset. I called two separate tree companies to give an estimate for the tree and ended up going with Mayer because they had much better communication and the price was a bit lower, and I am very happy with my choice. They came out sooner than expected and trimmed the tree expertly. Yard was cleaned up nicely with no damage done. My wife was home at the time and said the crew was very professional. The bill came in at exactly what we were given in our initial estimate, so no surprises at the end. Highly recommended. Thanks! Jim read more

What a great job. Everything is cleaned up nice. Men were extremely polite and professional. I would highly recommend these guys. They took of branches hanging over my house so the sun could get to my roof and dry off the moss. Yard was raked up all the small sticks were clean up even took the dead fall leaves. read more

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. RUDE. HARASSING. Did not complete the job how they were supposed to, and they are thieves! They were supposed to leave the cut up wood for us to use, but instead hauled it away before we got home from work that day. I am in the process of calling the BBB on this company. DO NOT HIRE THEM!! read more

Tree trimming services provided were very good and price was reasonable compared to other companies. Accounting Department is where their service has been lacking. Billing us for a job 10 months after completion, saying we are delinquent when in fact we called 3 times to get hem to give us an invoice which we only received after their "new collections person" started auditing their books. Obviously, they've been having book keeping issues if they had to hire a new person to collect outstanding debts. Perhaps, now things will be better. They could also learn a few things about customer service and how to talk with people, especially their valued customers. read more

I asked Mayer to remove a large dead tree from my yard. It took Mayer a few months to schedule the service, but when they came to do the job, it was excellent. The people were friendly and they were quick and efficient. They cleaned up all the smaller sticks and even asked to clean up ones we had been piling up for months. Their estimate for the service was half the price of their competitors. Overall, very personable and quality service. read more

Mayer tree did work for us back in February and we couldn't have been more impressed or satisfied with them! Not only did they give us the best quote, they took down 3 massive oak trees that were surrounding our home and helped us to sleep easier at night knowing our home was now safe. The men were extremely friendly and really know what they're doing. They also did great clean up work and left our lawn in pristine condition. We would absolutely use Mayer tree again for any other tree work in the future and highly recommend them to anyone else in need of tree work as well! read more

I called Mayer Tree Services on Friday September 18th and asked for a estimate to take down 10 trees. I gave them my name and phone number. I was told no one would call me untill Monday or Tuesday as it was to close to the weekend. WELL it is Wednesday and NO ONE CALLED ME. It is a disgrace for Mayer Tree Services not to contact clients. Is this the Company you would hire? I would not! I will give the job to some one else and never bother with Mayer Tree Services as they could not bother with me read more
