I have a tree with a branch ready to snap off at any moment. They were supposed to come out in November 2023, but we kept getting pushed back. Finally we were given a date of 2/6, and it got changed to 2/7. My car was moved at the time requested by them. They had their equipment taking up spaces ALL DAY LONG. Finally i see them over by the tree at 1:30 pm. I'm thinking YAY, Finally! Only to get home 2 hours later to find out they didn't touch the branch. They claimed they "ran out of time". We were told they would come back the next day as long as they had space for equipment, THEY DID HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE. They never came back. Its one BRANCH that needs to be cut. ONE. We have no idea when they will be back. And good luck to me with tomorrow's noreaster coming, lets hope the branch come down from the weight of the snow onto my son or myself. Horrible company. Do better Mayer Tree. I do believe its time to call someone else. You clearly cannot get the job done. I called Mayer (and some other tree service companies) to request a quote to remove a large branch from a neighbor's tree that had fallen onto our roof as well as a quote to remove over 20 trees in our yard. Four different tree service companies came to evaluate the fallen tree and the backyard trees to be removed. Ken Brown, from Mayer Tree Service, was the only rep who was a licensed arborist. Ken and I walked around my yard in the pouring rain as he took photos of the trees. Ken explained the tree removal process in detail. He answered all the questions I threw at him. Ken was personable, knowledgeable, polite, informative, and wicked funny! That same day I received an email with the quotes. Mayer's quotes were a little bit higher than some other tree service company's quotes, but not by much. Mayer (Ken Brown) was the only company that seemed to have more knowledge than the others. The branch atop our roof was removed the day after we signed the proposal for removal. Now that's FAST! The crew was quick and tidy. We'll have the backyard trees cut in the fall. I'll let you know how that goes. As for now, I would recommend others to at least talk to a Mayer Tree Service representative for a quote. read more

Disclaimer: Never hired these schmucks...nor will I ever! And you shouldn't either!! My next door neighbor hired this company to remove a relatively large branch that had fallen onto his chimney/garage due to Hurricane Irene. 4 guys in 2 huge trucks arrived at my house. As soon as they got out of the trucks, they were eye balling my house and driveway...looking for a way in. I just knew they were going to try to head in on my property to get it. If they were going to go in through my neighbors property, they would have parked the trucks in HIS driveway (neighbor has PLENTY of room to do so). Next thing I know I am standing on my back deck and all 4 men come trotting into my back yard! They never knocked or rang the bell. I confronted them and ordered them to leave the premises immediately. They just stood there and argued with me. The old guy says, "I knocked on your door, you didn't answer!" I said, "I don't HAVE to answer the door if I don't want too! Still doesn't mean you can just barge right onto someones property without them knowing!" He says, "Alright lady, no need to become a rude bitch." By this time, they haven't even started to leave my yard. So I said it again, "Get off my property now or I will have the police escort you off!" They left, but still arguing with me and saying I was rude for kicking them out. Needless to say, I carefully watched their every move. They ended up parking a truck with a cherry picker in my neighbor's driveway. The young kid cut the branch free and was done in 2 minutes flat. I recently had a VERY large poplar tree taken down by Mayer Tree. This tree was a particular challenge as it was massive, overhung 2 houses and a parking lot. Ken from Mayer Tree Svc. gave us a quote that was very affordable. We also got 11 other tree company quotes, but Mayer had the price, equipment, knowledge and experience that met our particular needs. My friend in Essex had some trees removed and I had been looking for a service and had gotten some quotes. Contacted Mayer to see what they could do and how they would do it. (Actually, one previous company I had used initially years ago, came back to do this job with a crane a few months back, worked for a few hours, gave up because they said it would be another 4 hours and it would be dark, it was too dangerous, and they wanted to change the method of take down and to come back with the crane another day for $1000 more!) Mayer was in line with some of the other quotes I got. I liked the idea that they would use a crane vs. a bobcat as some others were going to try. The tree was large - a rotted willow, and half of it came down, half was standing. They were set up in an hour or so, I think the work was done in about 2 hours, and they were cleaning up and leaving an hour or so later. They cut huge pieces, craned them over to the driveway, others cut off the limbs, and the logs were placed to the side. Workers with the chain saws and using the chipper wore long apron like pants. The driveway and area was raked, shovels and a blower was used to make things look good. The logs were left for the following day and the person that came back for them, was friendly, helpful and also did a great job cleaning up and there was a lot of debris because lots of the wood was rotted and left debris scattered about. I am shocked by some of the bad reviews here. I called Mayer a few weeks ago and a day or 2 later an estimator came out and gave me pricing, answering any and all questions. I had a pretty large job (65 trees) and the whole experience was fantastic. A few weeks later they called to schedule the work and over 2 days their crew of 4 handled the work. Large trees over wires, the house, in the woods, you name it they were here and handled with skill. The crew was extremely professional and skilled. It was quite a show. After completing they cleaned up and left very little damage considering they squeezed a crane into my backyard in tight quarters. I highly recommend them to anyone with tree work. read more

Tree trimming services provided were very good and price was reasonable compared to other companies. Accounting Department is where their service has been lacking. Billing us for a job 10 months after completion, saying we are delinquent when in fact we called 3 times to get hem to give us an invoice which we only received after their "new collections person" started auditing their books. Obviously, they've been having book keeping issues if they had to hire a new person to collect outstanding debts. Perhaps, now things will be better. They could also learn a few things about customer service and how to talk with people, especially their valued customers. read more

I asked Mayer to remove a large dead tree from my yard. It took Mayer a few months to schedule the service, but when they came to do the job, it was excellent. The people were friendly and they were quick and efficient. They cleaned up all the smaller sticks and even asked to clean up ones we had been piling up for months.
